¿¿¿Performance ENB for GTX660???

Just did a quick comparison, results? No difference, not even 0.1fps, surprised?

 

Testing place: Swamp north of morthal, in front of the entrance of Movarth's lair(reason for this is this area always gives me the lowest fps).

ENB used: Seasons of Skyrim

Specs: i5-4670K 4.2ghz/GTX 770 4gb, latest 340.52 driver/8gb RAM, 1920x1080 

 

With ENB enabled AA/AF:

Yes the weather is different in the second test but I don't think it affects fps.

´Key, guyz, PEACE! After all, didn´t install the Optimal Bethesda Textures. Reinstalled CoT, Supreme Storms and the Weather Patch, and the sky bug was gone :P Now i have that breathtaking sky. Talking about ENB, i found this one called Tamriel Reloaded ENB: took the cold and no letterbox version. Loading sreens are: skyrim(exterior) 30-50s, cities 20-40s, 10-30interiors, and the fps are perfectly playable. Although i had to reomve RLO cuz it caused me lag. 

 

I can now start a new game bt would like to run the Texture Optimizer. Yatol, whats your config using it?

Considering I get about a 30 frame difference on on two titans when forcing profile AF through nhancer versus only using ENB, I'd say yes; surprising.

 

If SoSe uses Downsampling, that would account for getting no difference. Also "application controlled" invokes Skyrim's own AF, which is why folks like Matso and Kyo advise using an external lock and foregoing Skyrim's native AF completely.

If you not affraid and have some free time to look after, overclocking the CPU can help your framerates as well.

 

The Exxx Intel CPUs have a great overclock potential. I had an E7200 for 5.5 years and the OC made a huge difference in many games.

PS: I can recommend as well Bleak and Unbleak ENBs, my PC is GPU limited, but i can run both with 30+ fps in outdoor on an AMD 260X, which is much weaker than your graphic card. (I use them with 0.119 DLL).

Yeah, surprising for you, perhaps, but that's because you got 2xtitans, which very few of us have, with SLI systems, drivers can be a hit or miss here and there.

 

What I am not getting is that you call someone's advice "incredibly terrible", when it's basically true for most of us who don't run a sli system(OP included), and it's also what S.T.E.P guide and almost every enb preset author tell the users to do.

Make sure your AA ANTRIPOSOFIC are disabled in your skyrim launcher and Nvidia app. ENB take care of that.

 

Incredibly terrible advice for any nvidia card with a driver above 320; forcing nvidia native routines and disabling ENB produces about a 50% boost; the ENB uses 100% out of frame calculated values which will destroy performance versus using onboard calculated-per-frame, the Nvidia "magic driver" (337.50)  specifically has built in shader and run time optimization routines specifically engineered for Skyrim that provide up to a 30% boost in full load framerates for anything over a geforce 480, it's literally posted in the patch notes.

 

 

 

 

 

I was intrigued by this "magic driver" you spoke of and did some research since I don't remember reading about such breakthrough.  The title of this article said it all:

EDIT: Also, release note said the improvement only applies to 7-series cards.  OP has a 660.

I'm sure nvidia's marketing had just as much a hand in a driver roll-out that directly competes with Mantle as their engineers, to be sure; that would be why I mentioned my actual frame differential versus whatever synth benchmark I could throw up via nvidia marketeers and partners.

 

Regardless, the driver update significantly boosted Skyrim's performance both on my titans in single and SLI, and to a lesser extent on my 580 (5-15 frames), which has a roughly similar architecture, as does the 6XX series, on any GPU dependent processes for any user, that should hold true, as long as there isn't a bottleneck in their respective setups.

 

It's also worth noting Skyrim has zero Dx10 or 11 hooks or libraries, the dx10 folder in Skyrim only contains installation runtime updates as of the game's release, which said article fails to mention.

A rule of thumb I ever had to do regarding performance:

  1. Unless you have a very-high end gaming PC with enough speed (i.e. more optimized cores and threads, SSD drives), lots of memory (both system and video RAM) and resources to handle it, generally most people with average PCs should be damn careful when using uGrids over values of 5, especially with other memory-hogging textures, high-poly meshes and mods that add lots of trees, grass and statics (such as Flora Overhaul).
  2. For textures, keep 4k or 2k only for bodies; anything else should to be 2k, 1k or even 512x512 (for non-essential objects or phenomena such as snowflakes, dust, smoke, leaves). Also, an A8R8G8B8 .DDS texture will eat more memory than a DXT1 or a DXT5 .DDS texture.
  3. Meshes? Mods such as SMIM requires the system to process those more complex meshes, and consequently reducing performance. Either use the half-resolution versions or use none at all.
  4. Grass... If you want thick grass without killing your framerate, Grass on Steroids does it right, along with iMinGrassSize (in skyrim.ini) set between 70 to 96.

Hi guyz, I am preparing for a serious playthrough, without boobs or penises xD As the title says, i have already tried several ENBS (RealVision, Project ENB,...) and they all seem to lag when turning around in-game which makes to play very uncomfortable. At this moment, i am using Zoners Performance ENB v.2, and it looks pretty steady, except for when i turn around... again. Do you know of any other better looking but no high-demanding???

I literally just went through the same exact shit. I've spent the last 3 days trying to figure this shit out. Fucking Skyrim looked beautiful and played well but as soon as I turned to look behind me, BAM, drop in FPS. Like to a damn crawl.

 

I'm sure everything that everyone is saying will help you but the fix for me was a new game save, literally starting all-over. For some strange reason, and I don't know why, I could use every single mod I had before on the stuttering Game save but tied into a new start and it does not stutter.

 

I tried cleaning with TESVEdit and nothing. I even tried going through and disabling certain mods that were performance intensive and still nothing. Load up a new game save with the "EXACT" same mods and like magic the stutter is fucking gone. Now, I don't like that I had to start fresh but personally I was not too far in because I purposely started using MO for this specific reason, to get all the mods I want running good then play through fully without installing new mods everyday.

 

If you find out a better solution than the one I used I'd love to know. Also, the ENB I use is a mixture between RealVision Full and Sharpshooter Extreme, a personal mixture I tinkered together since I really love the deep-rich colors of Sharpshooter's ENB.

Oh, if a game suddenly CTDs, I start again but instead of a new game

  1. I open the console at the main menu
  2. type COC QAsmoke
  3. as soon as the anonymous character spawns in QAsmoke, 
  4. I wait until some mods finish loading
  5. bring up the console again, 
  6. then type the command save <anynamehere>

The next time it happens, I simply open this QAsmoke save, and then load the most recent working gamesave.

these stutters that's because your ram is full, game unload x to load y, then it unload z to load x, then it unload a to load z

it will probably come back later

i had huge stutter in cities enhanced before, got rid of it by lowering the res of some _n files, and the game still look the same (mo is nice for that as you can do that without replacing anything)

 

 

getting rid of error in papyrus log can help too

I don't recommend mipmaps, when we have a program like that to reduce texture size and/or res.

 

Mipmaps just taking up more VRAM, when we have a program like that to control the texture size ourselves, and can just keep the game's texture setting on High to avoid the mipmap usage.

 

Also, the settings used is a case by case basis, some things actually look better when you just resize the texture from 4k > 2k > 1k, etc. instead of turning them into DXT1. Some end up looking blocky, and others have a lot of artifacts.

Rather than using TO, I use Bethesda Performance Textures.

I would avoid using ENB, but that is just me.

 

From my experience using ENB it cuts my Skyrim performance in over half.

It is not my computer, but I don't want to post specs because normally when I do that for any reason I get flamed for bragging.

 

Currently I am using an FXAA injector.

Is most places outdoors I get about 60 fps unless I am sprinting for long distances. I blame this on the fact I increased the speedmult and have enough stamina I could sprint from Riften to Whiterun or farther.

 

As for visual mods I have.

 

 

The Offical HD texture pack (not sure why now)

Immersive Roads without ENB (with optional extras)

Lush Trees and Grass

Seasons of Skyrim - Springtime Overhaul

No, we don't flame or bully people on the basis of their computer specs, unlike most computer hardware forums.

 

About the best option you can have is SweetFX and ICBINE 2 (I Can't Believe It's ENB), along with Dynavision and Imaginator.

 

Furthermore, 2k is the maximum you can allow for nicer textures.

Oh wow, I've never seen this optimized mod. I'm gonna use it, thanks!

 

A lot of my clothing and things just look really horrible, and since my GPU is low end I never bothered to search for something like this figuring most things would just guzzle vram.

I was using Realvision option A before this, and it gave me the same results as the rest.

I do have dynavision installed, but did think to list it. I had not seen Imaginator before now. I need to try that one.

Tried Realvision once, but for some reason there's some performance loss and that it didn't look good on an LCD monitor. I tried every other preset but either they were too dark, too bright, too colorful or colorless. Or they simply ate up framerates like peanuts.

 

Currently I use True Vision but with SweetFX and AO disabled, plus some quality settings turned down a bit, and for screencapping used a Ultra-fast bokeh effect DoF file from Kyo's old packs.

I have a 660 gtxoc, and i run skyrim with kyo's pure lights at 30/60 fps (with ambient occlusion off).

 

Kyo: 

I don't use any in-game image space modifier, with the exception of Dark Dungeons for ENBRevamped Exterior Fog, and Remove Ambient Interior Fog at times.
I don't use weather modifiers as well. I'm only relying on ENB Series to modify all rendering aspects from back to front, with the addition of SweetFX to provide 
LDR additional corrections, sharpening and SMAA anti-aliasing.

 

I do this, it works fine, i just use the skyrim particle patch for enb : http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1499, and some textures mods (texture file size: 12go)

 

I get this without cot, rlo, or anything like these mods :

Newer dll's have more features, thus less performance. Older ones have more performance. Though some newer enbs have been configured with the new dll's to give more performance, but either way, you are going to get a performance drop regardless. Just older dll's have less of a performance drop than newer ones.

 

As for names, there is plenty of threads here in LL that talk about enbs. You can even go to Nexus under the enb category and find tons of them. Without knowing what mods you use or what your visual preference is or if you want performance or quality, it is rather hard to suggest any kind of enb for you.

 

Seriously, instead of waiting for us to name some off, just go look at the Nexus (type ENB in the search if you want for faster results) or just search the bunch of threads here on enbs. This way you can find one to your liking and one that supports the mods you use.

I can wait, I'm going to install the game again on next week. 

The reason I asked here, because many user make fantastic screenshots here and they probably know some unpopular/new ENB which worth a check.

Plus, its literally makes me mad how idiot the avarage mod creater there. So i rather ask or look around here.

I think I have to agree with Spyder on the dll's.  I have noticed that the newer ones were a little more costly on the frames, though I will say that not as much as I was expecting.  As for performance enbs, I'm not really too sure.  I previously used a 670 for a few years without too much complaint.  Unfortunately, I think The Big's cpu isn't necessarily strong enough to handle most enbs being a dual core cpu.  Then again, I'm not even sure Skyrim makes use of quad cores like more modern games do....  The only suggestion I could give be to go really lite on the graphical mods and stick with ones that improve game functionality like the unofficial patches, etc.  

 

Now that I think about it, I wonder about the performance in regards to Injector vs. Wrapper installs.....
