You didn't miss much with Battlespire, trust me, lol.  It was probably one of the most bug ridden pieces of software I've seen.  Daggerfall I do remember that there were a few nude textures.  Daedra seducers were topless in Daggerfall.  I just didn't remember an option for players to be nude.  I need to DL the Bethsoft version.  That'd doubtless be easier than trying to find patches for my old CD ROM version.  I'd love to give it another go if I can get past the antique graphics. :)

I am very new to The Elder Scrolls, because I bought my first Elder Scrolls game 5 months ago (Skyrim), but I like the story in Oblivion the most (bought it a few days ago). The Skyrim one seems a little boring I think, but maybe it's because I completed it 10 times  :D But in my opinion Oblivion is best

Skyrim you don't buy for story you play it to explore make your own adventure and in the mean while you can do the quests you encounter on your journeys though out skyrim.

Skyrim is open gameworld and your totally free to do whatever you wanne do you don't have to follow anything game let you freely explore it yourself from the moment you step out that first cave(even with mods you don't have to that eather).

But skyrims real power are the mods then it realy shines.

Easly 200hours gameplay in skyrim and many even surpass 1000 hours gameplay because of mods and open game world with so much to discover and explore.

If your saying you have complete 10 times(prolly follow main quest line and then say ive completed skyrim lol and its boring then this kind of games is not for you you want games that guide you through a story and follow the path games tell you. Skyrim is no such game.

a very heavy question and a very heavy decision!
I belong to a slightly older generation, I have the complete "The Elders Scrolls saga" played and I find it very hard to decide.
all were Plays Well, apart from the bug's once, but I've made my decision. for me was the best roleplaying of all time "Morrowind"!
but this year i have-lost faith in "The Elders Scrolls" appear with the "The Elders Scrolls Online" is for me a world collapsed!

yeah I know that Morrowind and Oblivion have nude mods. :)   Battlespire, all you had to do was go in and select nude in the options and IIRC enable a simple parental control or say you were over 18, lol.  Daggerfall I don't recall the nude option at all.

As for your question on Arena, I honestly don't recall.  It's been years since I played it.  From what I do recall, the control setup options were REALLY limited though.  Hopefully somebody else will have a better answer for us.

what makes a good game?

1) it comes with a good game, not always about naked breasts and ass, or to implement specific sex animations.

2) where would Oblivion and Skyrim without these mods, without the modding community would these games no longer exist

3) Bethesda has all his construction sets published to these games on run hold.

a really good game does not need any mods!

Well its not that easy... I started playing TES with Oblivion and it was/is a great game. Some years later I started playing Morrowind and since release Skyrim. So far I would say Oblivion is my favourite, because I startet playing TES with Oblivion..... But I have to say that all 3 games are my favourite games, but Oblivion is just a bit better, because it was my first TES-game. Actually I dont want to choose between one of these 3 games, but for this thread, its Oblivion.

Edit:

I mean only the game, without any mods or unofficial patches.

And, well, I also would say its Skyrim. Oblivion and Skyrim are on the same line, both with pro's and contra's in gameplay as well as in the story.

Almost every game no longer exists 1 year after release without a modding community, except those online games...

A bad game is bad game, with or without mods. I remember playing FarCry 3 without mods, and then playing with mods, and I think it is made to be played with mods, the vanilla game sucks imho. But I didn't play that much with mods either, because I think the game is bad.

I ended vanilla Skyrim, and now I'm playing modded Skyrim, and to be honest I never ended modded Skyrim with SexLab mods... because now the mods made Skyrim completely different and it's not even useful to play the dragonborn to have fun. On my last game, I don't have dragons to kill because I used Alternate Life mod and didn't do the Helgen+Whiterun part to start the dragonborn quest, and I'm still having a lot of fun ! There are some NPCs from mods, talking to me like if I was the dragonborn and it's breaking immersion but I try to avoid them and it's pretty easy to roleplay some random character using the common skills every NPC can use.

What I mean here is that a really good game can be a different really good game with mods.

A bad game can be a really good game with mods. A complete overhaul... or sometimes just some few details!

I remember playing FarCry 3 with mods and saying 'This is what the game would have been if the 18+ thing was really meaning something, not just here because you see some tits' and it wasn't a mod adding porn or even eroticism, only balancing difficulty and adding realism.

My favorite Elder Scrolls game is Morrowind, I spent 7 years playing that game.  Played three years vanilla on Xbox, then four years modded on PC.  My second favorite is Skyrim and my third Oblivion.  Never really got into Oblivion, but I love Skyrim.

  • 1 month later...

Morrowind was the last one that was good before adding mods. Oblivion and Skyrim didn't become worth playing until such extensive modding that Bethesda no longer deserves any credit for them.  If Bethesda made crappy games on a good engine, or good games on a crappy engine, I would cut them some slack, but what they release is shovelware on every level.

EDIT: Oh, my first TES game was Arena, before Daggerfall came out.

Morrowind...

Skyrim did amazing step forward in graphic but got strip more than oblivion of roleplay elements.... Morrowind was simple the perfect rpg....Choices that matters..Action and consequence.. An in depth character creation...Varied skill...spell...And cute puzzles... Also not holding hand in locations.. No quest markers at all to find location you actually had to use your brain...Asking people...And way more superior storyline and characters.....

Morrowind...

It had only 4 voices(I miss those voices hehe) but sounds and voices i still remember so clearly even i played in '02-'03 Morrowind was first solo RPG i had real feel of open beautiful world screaming to explore.

First 6 months i did not even mod Morrowind.

By far my best RPG ive played.

i like skyrim best but have only played oblivion and skyrim, and only skyrim was modded. what nearly ruined oblivion for me was the oblivion gates opening everywhere and ruining the pretty scenery. for that reason i hated the main quest in oblivion, and left off doing it as long as possible. and i avoided kvatch.
