I need a good PC game to play. Problem is it feels like I have played most of the great games. I need some ideas. Preferably RPG's, action, adventure, or RTS.

Games that I have played:

Mass Effect 1 and 2

Witcher 1 and 2

Bioshock

Deus Ex 1 (currently playing)

Diablo 2 + expansion

Dead Space 1 and 2

Fallout 3

Neverwinter Nights

Dragon Age Origins

Left 4 Dead 2

Portal 1 (not that interested in the sequel)

Half Life 2, EP1, EP2

Crysis 1 and 2

Batman Arkham Asylum (will try Arkham City...eventually)

Titan Quest

Torchlight

Company of Heroes

COD 1 and 2 (not interested in Modern Warfare and all that shit)

Sims 1 - 3

Oblivion (will be buying Skyrim sometime soon)

Terraria can prove a lot of entertainment.

You get to explore.

It has bosses.

it has tons of items.

and it's only 10$

and apparently bastion is really good. I have not played it. but i'm only hearing good stuff.

I know it's not in the realm of what you're looking for and just to confirm that fact I'd avoid Civilization 5 like the plague. I just downloaded it last night since the previous games have given me so many years of fun but this one is almost insulting how bad and even aggravating it is. Such a let down for a game with such great history.

Once again not what you're looking for but if I was locked alone in a small room for the rest of my life give me 'Master of Orion' the original game.

Size: mbs.

Play-worthiness: Forever

I had it on on laptop without color and without sound and I was so addicted that many times I stayed up until 5 am playing it when my wife was away.

My tips would the Assasins Creed series, and Mount & Blade (Warband if you prefer knights, With Fire and Steel if you prefer guns and pikes).

A game in the Total War Series, Perhaps?

Or Europa Universalis III? Or Victoria II?

Those are all Strategy games though, idk if you'll like 'em. :P

Freelancer, always freelancer.

The game had such a strong fanbase that literally THOUSANDs of solar systems have been created that can be explored, and multiple storylines and playtypes, including battlestar (which I still have never watched, is it any good, or is it one of those shows you have to absolutely love sci fi to start?) and star trek, and one group made our solar system! (crossfire)

The entire game is about 80 solar systems, 40 factions, hundreds of landing spots, and the play style that EVE online copied.

EDIT: geeze, I sound like an advertisement.

If you haven't tried them yet, I can really recommend Overlord and Overlord 2. Not very high on replay value but great fun and highly original. Sort of brings back the Dungeon Keeper atmosphere, but with a very different gameplay style. Good humour, and running around with an army of minions at your heel, pillaging stuff, is just good fun.

You must play Deus Ex Human Revolution man if nobody has said it yet, if yes then I'm sorry :)

Also Assassin's Creed series is quiet interesting. Resident Evil 5, GTA series (start with GTA IV). I don't know, there are a lot of games I like.

Well, Terreria is kind of like Minecraft, and I don't like that game so ya.

I will play Human Revolution when I finish 1 and 2 first. (I got them both for $5 on steam)

Total War does sound interesting....as does Supreme Commander, does anyone know if that is a good one?

Ah! I still play that game, and Master of Magic. (I also like MOO2, but not of course 3).

I've always thought that If I owned a games company, I'd upgrade the MOM graphics, increase the number of worlds and opponents and release that as a sure fire winner.

Some of these are pretty old, but if you haven't played them you should.

Icewind Dale 1/2

Baldurs Gate 1/2

Fallout 1,2

Planescape: Torment(Sheesh if you haven't played this, you should).

Starcontrol 2/3 Starcontrol 2 is free now.

Divinity II, I liked it a good bit.

Empire TW - Shogun 2, along with Medieval total war 2(if you're a fan of RTS games)

Magika if you like a game that isn't serious about itself but fun.

If you like spacesims:

Freespace 2, then grab the SCP open pack which includes the original Freespace and silent threat, and silent threat expanded(community expansion to close it up), as well as updated graphics(volition released the assets and engine source about 10 years ago, and it's been updated by the mod community ever since)

You need a copy of freespace 2, grab from GOG for $5.

Grab the java downloader, click gimmie everything. It's about 12gb to download it all, plus other stand alone campaigns and mods. Blue planet is very good.

Freespace 2 ingame rendered trailer here and all that:

[video=youtube]

Ingame looks as good if not better in many cases.

Everything else was already mentioned.

Yup, The Baldur's Gate saga is a must for the pc rpg, and with the mod you can play the 2(+expansions) as a single game.

(Saw it last time for ~15€)

Trine is pretty good also, reminded me of Lost Vikings for a moment x)

Honestly I HATED Morrowind. I tried to like it but I just did not like it at all. Oblivion isn't nearly as in depth as it, but it's less annoying and the graphics aren't complete crap.

Posted

You never tried Better Bodies, mesh replacers, graphics replacers, MGE or the executable patch Jerbsinator?

I agree, Morrowind out of the box looks dreadful. Replace everything and it becomes a superb game.

I dunno, out of the box it was the TES game I enjoyed the most. Combat was absolutely terrible though but I loved the lore and diversity in the game. The world seemed very unique and the story very interesting. The graphics didn't really worry me too much, but I have pretty low standards for graphics when it comes to older games. Oblivion (and mostly likely soon Skyrim) win with mods though obviously.

On second thought however, it's probably the nostalgia that's making me hold the game so highly. Anyways, I should probably stop going OT.

Seeing that you've played FO3, why not try out New Vegas? Although I only spent a bit of time on it, from what I can gather it's generally considered to be quite a step up from FO3.

Really? No one's mentioned it yet? Okay then!

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Oh ya I forgot about that one. Honestly I am too chicken shit to play that game. It looks freaking terrifying.

Also the worst part of Morrowind was the combat. Absolutely HORRIBLE and that is why I dislike it.

Hold on to your seats--here it comes. It just popped into my memory.

This game 'scared' me. I remember jumping out of my seat twice (no, I didn't run out of the room--just out of the seat.)

RotH

Realms of the Haunting

(It's available at GOG--just $5.99.) http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/realms_of_the_haunting

It's old graphics with fantastic video cuts, fighting, mysteries, puzzles--you need a walkthru for this one.

Here's a quote: 'The graphics may look very old at the beginning but, trust me, once you start playing you won't notice it anymore.'

True, true, true.

For anyone who ever played it: Remember the cut scene of the man removing his gloves?

Scary...

Understandable :)

And I agree, the stupid luck based combat drove me insane. Any game that features it will have horrible combat.

If you're still interested, I can tell you that the total war franchise is downright amazing. It's got the city/empire management like other rts games, however, the battles are the winner here. No game really captures the epicness. And plus, there are many different time periods to choose from.

I personally enjoy Rome: Total War the most out of any total war game. But I also like Empire because it has a different spin on things. Medieval 2 + kingdoms has some amazing mods, and Shogun 2 looks beautiful and combines all the features of old games and adds even more which sets it apart from anything else.

Civilization games are great if you enjoy city management over battling. It's all preference.
