I listen to music a bit while playing Skyrim or New Vegas.

Vader, Symphony X, Meadows End, Acephilix, BLS, Mudvayne, Stone Sour, Pantera, etc...

Probably been posted before, I'm sure, but being new, I didn't see it.

Anyway, what's your poison?

Mostly Amon Amarth. Nothing is more fun than slaying a whole bandit camp while listening to Death in Fire or Valhal awaits me.

Two different things usually: In game music or a selection of various artists.

Some examples included:

Tenhi

Wintersun

Enslaved

Opeth

Ihsahn

It depends of the game.

- for Skyrim, SR3 and such games, the game's music is good (really like the SR3 radios :P).

- for Banished or Sims 3, Jamendo (Electro channel) is my friend

- and at work, commercial music (R.E.M, Massive Attack, AC/DC, Morcheeba, Björk, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Indochine, Girollaz, Metallica, Scoripons, The Coors ...) and non commercial music

I like some good jazz too.

Lord of Magical Death, huh ?

Well, if I would listen to anything it would be metal or classical, maybe a mix of both, metal for action events and classical for the others.

Last time I did, was going into solo battle against a mass of Xenon in X-Beyond the Frontier...

... to the strains of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring :D

EDIT: Otherwise, it's really just let the music play. One big favourite, though, Battle 01 from FO3

(Aside: I'll always just turn off the in-game music in racing games, without ever hearing it - gets so frelling repetitive! Sooo quickly!)

Hell yes. Not just because I'm Norske, but Amon Amarth does kick ass.

That's what I love about Symp. X, kind of like Kansas on steroids. :)

Only while playing Beth-Games, or generally speaking?

If the prior, then nothing usually...Shooters and the like I need to listen whats going on around me

But when I play Strategy-Games like Total War...stuff like this is simply da best to enhance my bloodthirst:

Awesome piece of music, powerful, strong, makes me see not giant robots fighting vs. monsters, yet massive armies of romans and phalangites marching and battling each others

One of my favourite bands, song starts slow but once it gets it going its perfect for slaughtering celts, germans, romans, whatever you like

Another wonderful band with lots of powerful, epic songs to listen to while conquering any world you like:

Speaking about slaugthering romans ... with this song I an already see them romans fleeing in terror from celtic headhunters

And finally a german band doing a capella metal (yeah, its possible, check it out). Of course the song is perfect for any

great war or battle you might plan in the near future!

When I played Skyrim I avoided my foobar3000

For FO3 and FNV yeah I put on tunes. depends my mood.

Now back in FFXI (MMO) I had music on nonstop. I did like the musics in most areas but listening to it over and over and over and over for long periods of time when you are xp'ing in a group for hours gets really old very quick. The only time I didn't listen to music was when I was about to do an even with my event LS and we used a voice chat such as Skype. Other than that I have to have music playing. And like I said it depends. Varies from EBM, Metal or drum n bass. For Fallout 3, I use Eeries Wasteland Music Overhaul. I like to enjoy dark ambient asthetic sounds while I'm roaming the wasteland with or without my side kick.
