I've seen a decent few people describe hornet as the perfect eroge protagonist as well as describe silksong as having the perfect atmosphere and enemies for an eroge so I'm genuinely surprised that no one has made a sex mod (with pregnancy ofc) for the game yet

That would be because you'd have to create custom code and custom events for the game to do that, which I don't think anyone has figured out yet.

 

i.e. - if you go to X location and/or talk with X character, X event will happen. In your case, you want "X event" to be sex. Adding pregnancy on top of all that would make it even more complicated since that would mean Hornet would need an entirely new set of sprites and likely a limited move set due to being and looking pregnant, and ONLY after she's executed the "sex event".

 

I know it doesn't seem that complex in your head, but when you really look into everything that goes into it, you kinda realize it's a lot to ask for. Plus, modders are only barely scratching the surface in coding mods in general, so it's very unlikely we will ever get to the point of adding custom events.

 

So, now you know there is no need to be "genuinely surprised" it hasn't been done yet.

 

Also, not a single nude mod for Hornet has been finished yet, so perhaps let's let them focus on one task at a time.

To top it off, a lot of those types of mods tend to become too ambitious of a project. They never get completed due to burn out, lost of interest, or life happens and the modder gets too busy. Its a lot of effort for what could just be animations made instead that follow canonical proportions, rather then a whole mod for the game.

People already have to put in a lot of effort for a "simple" nude mod due to the massive amounts of animation frames that need to be edited/redrawn.
now imagine the amount of work it would take to give each enemy 1 sex animation (maybe more if you want variety like enemies of the same type ganging up on her).

sure it's dorable, but without a full team of paid artists and proper planning, it would take a lot of time and one very very very determined artist.

Apologies if my comment came off as ignorant and entitled, it was not my intention. I more so meant to express surprise at why there haven't really been any large scale attempts to mod silksong for sexual content considering hornets popularity as a character in smut, although as you said that's likely because silksong isn't that well understood yet for modding as well as people just not having the time, motivation, or resources to do it and thinking back on it I definitely could've worded my comment better

Yeah, we're really not there yet. If you think about it, even older games like Metroid Fusion haven't been fully cracked open yet. You should never assume the resources are available yet, especially if you don't see many finished mods in the current listings. Popularity isn't a factor in this matter.

To add onto the issue, the fact that Silksong is a sprite based game with a fairly significant library of sprites in it (especially for Hornet, the playable character), it makes it significantly more work to implement any changes to character appearance.  Just looking through this thread, there have been multiple attempts to make a nude or even just sexualized hornet mod, yet all of them are either still in progress, on hiatus, or abandoned due to just how many hornet sprites need to be changed to make her new look consistent across everything.  In comparison, many games using 3D models can have character replacements and edits out within hours of the tools to import said modified characters being made available to the public.

If someone were so inclined as to do a mod adding pregnancy events to Silksong, I would suspect that the most efficient and realistic way would be to just co-opt some other events that happen in game and turn them into sex/pregnancy.  The most obvious one would be the prison event, as Hornet has a small set of sprites with a limited for just that section (which has already had a few mods making it more sexualized and could be adjusted into a naked pregnant hornet) and it ends in a small cutscene that could potentially be changed to a quick birth scene.  Of course that's a single missable event in the game, though maybe some of the other bits that are along the lines of discrete cutscenes like sharpening the needle could likewise be edited by someone driven to make pregnancy scenes in Silksong.  Of course, doing so would essentially involve drawing an animation frame by frame, which as noted above is a different and more involved skillset that making models or animations for game that uses such assets rather than sprites (though I suppose for animations there's not actually anything stopping a person from just making the animation with models or other tools, then converting it to the correct format, it just is less likely to fit in with the art style of the rest of the game).

Honestly, I just want a mod that gives Hornet big boobs |(the bigger the better) and a fat butt, nips and pussy when she's naked. Maybe a boob window. The first few attempts early on in the thread were the ones I were hoping would be completed by now.

Takes time, also I haven't heard from IEatMulch since they last posted. It is quite a task.

I personally think just having a basic nude mod for now, using sprites from the prison section as an example, is good enough at the moment. Before moving on to anything more then that, imo.

A small update since I started here. If I had more free time, there could be more done by now. And I must say, some of the sprites are fun to make.

The movement is basically done, excluding looking up and down (I don't know why, but I just can't get to making these two). Still there's a lot left like taking damage, dying, swimming, downspike, etc. Some are short and easy and some are the swimming ones.

Oh this is awesome! i tried to edit them myself, but wasnt able to connect the sprites well enough for a whole animation + the sprites are all over the place and i was struggling to find the connected ones.

Evening all, I may as well want to say I had burnt out and took a break for a while, and will be back sometime after my work shift today. I am nearly done with the shakra rest sprites (about 3 or 4 sprites remain), and also working with making the animations smooth (certain body parts were off and revised, and thank goodness my phones art app also has animation options(but sprites are tiny for default size)) and slowly but surely nude hornet is a pain but im making it work. I got no screenshots for today so I'm sorry. Small update, I finally got a new laptop intended for gaming and silksong looks much smoother.

quetion. how hav you manage to go past all of the reused frame? you know for example the on the knee frame wich i used all across her animations for example. how have you made complex animation around this issue? ecaue personaly it anoyed me o much i stoped

dunno if I understand that correctly, but if we're talking about frames that appear in other animations (such as hardland frames in the downspike land animation), then I just try to take them into account in advance. 

 

in general, along with Patchwork mod, I use the DefaultHornetAnimations library to understand which animations I am editing and also pics inside have the same size to redraw them together. whilst Patchwork allows me to see which frames are used in these animations to replace them in Sprites folder when I'm done or just checking if they will work.

when it comes to Moss Mommy, she's much easier, 'cause she has 22 frames when Hornet has like fucking 500 folders of animations (some repeat others)

right now I only edit animations before Moss Mother fight, which means that it can mess up some of the future ones, but right now there's no issues.

 

so to sum it up, my process is:
1. drag all the frames from DHA (Run anim for example) into your program

2. redraw them (check through Patchwork if some of the frames are used anywhere else and already been edited, drag em there too and redraw according to them)

yeah so doesnt help me much.
i was adding much more involved animation, like she doesnt just move and is naked. more like she masturbate while healing and stuff. making repeated frames actual hell to deal with.
what ened up happening is that she was leaking while picking objects up. like . girl . no it comes from another animation.
i hope a mod for kin librabries exist some day and it actualy duplicate these sprites so tthat theyre separate.

so does that default library contain info on whats reused and where?

nah, it's only to understand which animation is which and redraw frames together without seeking every one through atlas folders. DHA is just a bunch of folders with pictures after all.

 

but Patchwork does help with that since in it's in-game menu you can pause the anim playing now or choose anything from the list. and then you can see which frames are reused. it also shows the path to the frame like atlas3/name

 

dunno, I think you need to code an actual mod to make something even a little different from the original frame order. and I know only how to draw so that's what I do.

i mean. a generalied mod that add features for kin mods. like the current on that add different sprites sheet for each weapon if you chose to do so.
because it is an inconvenience. yeah you can work around it. but in hella lame ways. it would be like saying that patchh work wasnt needed to make skin mods... yeah. but thats not why patchwork exit. its there to make our life easier.

in any case. is that a new patchwork feature? does it tell you wich frames are reused now?

what I meant is that you can just see the repeating frames. PW shows you the name of the frame and path to it so you don't have to look for it. so in case of sitting animation, there's "hornet_sit0000" when she lands on the bench in "Sit" animation and the same frame is used in "Get off"

 

sorry if all this blabbering wasn't helpful, that's all I can say.

how do you know its also in Get Off ? where do you get that info?

i have the name of the frame. and what do i do with it to get all of the other animations where its ued in?

just discovering them while I prepare to redraw
in one of my earlier posts I said that if one of the later abilities has the same frames and I drew them differently, it may mess it up

but maybe it doesn't and everything will be fine

 

for now I know some of them, but not every one

btw it was a surprise for me to discover that Harpoon Throw and Needle Throw (in-air) have no repeats, while they look kinda similar

it's also a fun one when you see identical frames with different names
