Agent Tex Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 (edited) Hi everyone You might know me from my comic series and blogs here. I’m based in the UK, and I wanted to talk about something that’s just happened with internet access over here. The UK government recently introduced new regulations requiring users to verify they’re over 18 to access adult content. But instead of implementing proper age checks, many websites are just being blocked outright. Today, I noticed that Rule34.com has been banned. I know this site is not technically a traditional porn site, but it does host NSFW content. I’m wondering—will this end up being treated the same way as other adult sites under the new restrictions? Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone knows more about what’s going on. Edit UK Online Safety Act takes effect today. Users must verify identity with a third-party and scan their face to access adult content online. Proposed screen time limits require age verification for video games exceeding two hours. - Non-compliance fines up to £18M or 10% revenue; sites may be blocked. Access to porn games, niche gaming forums, or non-state-approved content will be restricted. - Platforms like PornHub, Discord, Reddit, and Grindr are compliant. Ofcom investigates 4chan, which may face Cloudflare block under court order. - Aims to prevent kids from accessing harmful social media content like porn. Edited July 25, 2025 by Agent Tex 1

Unless and until a site can implement U.K. law-compliant age verification, they have no choice but to block U.K. access. Presumably more and more jurisdictions are going to start passing similar laws. And then we'll all set out VPNs to a server in Macau. 2

That's because you know next to nothing about the UK or this topic. This not just about the UK. The EU and circa 20 US states will be bringing in similar laws. These laws cover a wide range of sex-related material, not just video games. It's not about banning things, it's about implementing age verification systems. There was a major inquiry into the sexual exploitation of girls under the Tory govt but the nice right-wing people ignored every recommendation of the ensuing report. There is another currently ongoing inquiry set up by the Labour govt. Edited July 25, 2025 by Grey Cloud 5
Count Chocula Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 (edited) This might not be news to anyone, but I was curious so I set my VPN to a UK server and went to pornhub and this is what I saw. Spoiler Didn't see any difference when going to Nexusmods. And I made sure that, while logged in, I was trying to look at a mod Nexusmod's own policies would not have allowed me to look at if I had not been logged in and opted into seeing adult content (and in fact I could not see it when I was not logged in). ' EDIT: It makes me wonder why pornhub is willing to jump through the hoop to comply with the U.K. law but not for the French law. Edited July 25, 2025 by Count Chocula 1
Agent Tex Posted July 25, 2025 Author Posted July 25, 2025 I can confirm Twitter is now porn free in the UK

sophiextime Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I feel very sure Loverslab will be fully restricted very soon in the UK. It fits the criteria too well. I see no reason why they wouldnt. Its sad. Its going to be like a huge wave of bans , restrictions and very limited access for the gaming world and modding world. Enjoy this site will you can in the UK. you may not see it again soon. 1

Only if Brits don't know what a VPN is. Of course, laws requiring government approved VPNs or even the outright banning of VPNs might follow eventually. Edited July 25, 2025 by Count Chocula 1

LL could be in deep trouble The UK can only enforce UK law on UK entities, subjects and foreign corporations/individuals with a direct relationship here (e.g. trading, service supply etc.). AFAIK LL is not based in the UK nor has it offices/residency here so UK law cannot be enforced against it. The UK government could in theory impose a block on the LL IP (if it's even aware of this site) which is easily circumvented with a VPN. There seems to be a lot of pointless conjecture and panic on this subject, basically wait and see what happens then adapt to the situation, either through compliance or circumvention. Guest Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 Watcha gonna do... the wave of extremists who are mandating the rules governing the bodies and minds of others has not peaked yet, in my estimation, gonna get worse before it gets better. The sheer amount of hypocrisy is sickening to say the least, our bodies and minds should be Autonomous* to any other being/beings/entities on Earth, sadly that is not where we are currently. When will we all wake up and actually do something about it? IDK autonomous /ô-tŏn′ə-məs/ adjective Not controlled by others or by outside forces; independent. an autonomous judiciary; an autonomous division of a corporate conglomerate. Independent in mind or judgment; self-directed. Independent of the laws of another state or government; self-governing.

If I had treated you this way I might be inclined to blow it off but I have not nor would I. Far too many users here who think and act like the opinions they have should supersede all others, I have just as much right to say what I think as you do. I did not write the definition in the dictionary, I did however use it to mean exactly what it says, hence the need for such a tool, so others cannot twist the meaning or words to fit a different opinion. If I am not allowed to post what I think and feel then the Moderators can inform me of that, you won't.
DrunkenCow Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 I thought we were supposed to be outraged over the roughly 800 gacha games being removed from Steam due to Visa/Mastercard and not the actions of a country that still pays taxes so their inbred leader can protect his pedo cousin. 5
