Let me break down how wrong this is:
- Unreal Engine 5 is actually semi-moddable out-of-the-box - new pak files can be added into the game's data to override existing assets, though this is limited to ONLY modifying existing assets without something else to load custom ones.

For the average mod user, it is even easier to use model replacement mods than you made it sound. Modding UE5 games for the end user can be as simple as dropping the pak files directly into the ~Mods folder. It is no different than modding EA's The Sims games, really.

- UESS exists to add scripting support to UE5 games. It generally doesn't take too long for a compatible UESS profile to be made (in fact, one is available on Nexus right now), though the actual script modding portion of it takes time due to needing to reverse engineer portions of the game to identify functions
- On top of all that, Oblivion Remastered is actually still loading most of it's content from Creation Engine files, so you CAN make mods in the same way you would for any other CE game, with the exception of not having a script extender (yet) and not having a usable Creation Kit (yet). Some people have already published mods that work in this way, most likely made using Xedit.

EDIT: I did some digging and it turns out that the graphical assets are not loaded from the BSA's but are handled by UE5. Makes sense, I suppose. The original Oblivion CK can actually open the ESP files and edit them, so once someone figures out a way to link modded UE5 assets to modded plugins, it will be essentially as moddable as original Oblivion, minus the script extender (for now, until the UESS stuff catches up)

Thank you for your work. Graphical asset includes skeleton and animation, right? Seems like getting a framework out will require some work.

60EUR, it won't even run on my current system and I already own an original boxed copy, a X360 copy and a GOTY that came with Legendary Edition boxed set.

How many other remakes will there be? Oblivion Special Edition, Oblivion Anniversary Edition, Oblivion SuckToddsCock Edition? Beth is creatively bankrupt and this is pure cash grab, no matter how you want to spin it and how many bells and whistles are attached to it.

Do old mods work?
Someone claimed some do that do not need the Script extender.

I hope we get to see updates to tools and a Script Extender soon-ish.
Maybe even a way to port over old oblivion mods in that scenario.

Games decent tho.
Not 60 bucks decent but decent.
Picked it up for 35$ and that is a very agreeable pricetag for what this remaster offers.

I also bought the boxed edition back when it first came out and proceeded to let it sit on a shelf for years because at the time that I bought it there was no way my laptop was going to run it. Had to wait years before I upgraded my system enough to play it.

As for whether or not this is a cash grab or not, well of course it is. Every product that every company produces that isn't free is a cash grab. Now I think you're implying that this "cash grab" isn't worth it. Having played it for a few hours now, the graphics alone make it worth it for me. Could they have bothered to upgrade the original engine? Maybe but I think it is actually really nice that they left it alone because it makes porting old mods to the new game extremely easy. Honestly, I think the biggest problem that old aging games have is that their graphics end up looking like crap (in contrast to modern games). That alone ruins the experience for me playing a lot of old games. So being able to play one of my favorite older Bathesda game again but with it looking like new makes it extremely worth it.

So in the end I guess it is subjective like just about everything else out there. The updated graphics is the main if only selling point about the remaster and on that front I think many folks would say that the remaster delivers on that front and then some. Granted, you will need to have some good system specs to enjoy those update graphics to the fullest. Folks should not hold the fact that they can't play the game because their system isn't powerful enough against the company.

afaik, it's

1. No script

2. No asset

There's a few mods that's been tested. Seem like mod with only new item works (but can't be dropped as the old model format doesn't work in remastered)

It seems to have been tweaked slightly in terms of racial skills and leveling speed. ESO (the Youtuber) went over some of the starting traits and some of the alterations made to them.

So does this mean four more releases of Oblivion instead of a new Elder Scroll game?

Is this even a question?

Has anyone been able to find the strings files for Oblivion Remastered?  Some of the mods that are adding new things to the game are having the names of objects appear in-game as "MISSING STRING TABLE ENTRY", which appears to be attempting to read the string data as a pointer to one of the .strings files that contain the localizations for things like item names and subtitles.

I've checked in a few of the .bsa archives and searched within the game data in the steam folder, but I can't find anything that appears to be the strings tables in question.

I definitely HOPE Oblivion doesn't get the Skyrim never ending re-release treatment, I think this is just them giving us a bone to chew on while they keep working on ES6 (though wouldn't shock me to see Skyrim get the same remaster treatment at some point....hell Todd Howard would put Skyrim on your TOASTER if he could lol)
