Regardless, I think I'm bringing Looker back and making the bunny suit sprites someone different, like maybe Professor Oak, even though he doesn't walk.

i know some people would be disappointed to not have a nude rowan, but personally i love the idea of you being the professor of this rom hack. i think it would be a shame to let those sprites go to waste. i have no idea how hard this would be or if something like this is even possible, but it would be cool if you could use all 3 variants for your professor. like have her clothed the first time you see her, then naked later, and then in a bunny suit at some point.

 

regardless, i definitely agree that the bug catcher and scientist should both be replaced by those sprites

I did try to give Lucas a bit more shape here:

I found a few more non-overworld sprites that need edits.

These are from the intro. The first one is from the trainer card. It's trainer case 30 and trainer case 13.

The below ones are low priority since I don't even know where to find them in the code. I may not even be able to edit them.

 

This is one of the box wallpapers. You need to generate a secret code to the mystery gift guy to even access it.

It's stored with the rest of the boxes, wherever they are.

Caitlin and Darach are annoying to edit.

Because the "frames" file uses two palettes, I have to use this file.

I had to edit each of Darach's little squares individually.

Why he is split in two and not all together like Caitlin I do not understand.

Speaking of Caitlin, she has the wrong palette here, so I have to go into Tinke and increment the palette once in order to edit her.

Literally no other sprite in Tinke I've seen has this property.

They're so weird. Why weren't they just a normal double battle sprite?

 

Also I'm just now realizing that I forgot to update Caitlin's VS Face until now. Whoops. That'll be in this update.

Now, to my knowledge, every single battle sprite has been edited!!!!!!

That's just how Platinum stores its sprites. It cuts all of them up and then arranges them when it's time for them to be loaded.

Would you believe me if I told you these sprites are some of the least cut up ones?

I heard the term "meta sprite" used sometimes to refer to sprites made of smaller sprites that come together to form.

You're on an absolute tear, dude. And you're knocking it out of the park. I was gonna give it a shot, but I doubt I could even match what you've done on the males. Holy shit.

With this one, I think I would move his ass one more pixel out, but this is the only one I have any notes on.

As for the Hiker chest hair, I would be willing to give that a shot. If anyone has the one that was removed, so I could use it for reference and comparison, I would appreciate it. I've been out of the loop enough that I don't even know where they were. Maybe I can find a shirtless one that fits the bill on Pixiv or something.

Once you change the width and the height, the sprites look better, but they're still messed up unless you go into the animation frame viewer.

If I recall sprites were stored that way to save space since a lot of those sprites shared bits with each other especially in the Gen 1 and 2 games. The sprites would only be properly assembled when needed.

Edit: Okay I have found them all. After these and the rest of the overworld sprites, I don't think there are any more sprites that have humans with clothes on them. Though I could definitely be wrong.

  1. The intro sprites are in the normal place for intro sprites, demo/title/op_demo.narc at 87, 91, and 98. And the Barry ones are from Diamond and Pearl.
  2. The trainer card that has the gym leader faces is at graphic/trainer_case.narc/trainer_case_30.RGCN and its palette is trainer_case_13.RLCN.
  3. The box with Team Galactic is at graphic/box.narc/box_122.bin and its palette is box_121.narc.
  4. The contest hall sprites are at:
    1. contest/graphic/contest_bg.narc/contest_bg_1.bin and its palette is contest_bg_30.RLCN 
    2. contest/graphic/contest_bg.narc/contest_bg_19.bin and its palette is contest_bg_34.RLCN, but only palette number 2 of that. 
    3. contest/graphic/contest_obj.narc/contest_obj_31.bin and its palette is contest_obj_1.RLCN
    4. contest/graphic/contest_obj.narc/contest_obj_34.bin and its palette is contest_obj_2.RLCN

Do you think you could show me a youtube video of how entering the underground looks? (Either under the mod in an unlisted video or without the mod in a regular video.)

From what I'm seeing, it looks like the first column is what each of them uses.

I looked into the code for the underground sprites, and those looked the most similar.
