I wonder how many more pages it would have been if platinude's pages on the hacks/games thread were moved here, since the hacks started there.

I originally moved the project to its own thread because I didn't want it to bloat the general hacks/games thread, and yet now it's even bigger than the place that spawned it.

 

Thank you, everyone, for getting this silly little project so far. I really appreciate your support, whether you're a spriter, lurker, or just someone who wants to contribute.

Been lurking for a while and was inspired to try and make some edits and was able to get these two trainer classes.

I couldn’t decide for the breeder whether to keep the apron or remove it entirely and also did one with a little half apron.

Breeder may need some more work on her boobs, though.

Yeah, it’s my first time editing a sprite to be nude like this and the boobs were giving me a bit of trouble since there’s not that much to work with compared to the swimmer.

 

Any suggestions or advice to try and improve it?

There are 82 unused trainer battle slots, 82 unused front sprite slots, and 89 addable overworld sprite slots in fire red and leaf green.

Now I see why there are so many hacks for fire red. You can add so much in addition to what's already in the game.

This is frankly absurd.

That's a lot of unused slots. I wonder if they had plans for any of them, considering it was just a remake of the originals.

Well, the reason for that is because the 82 front sprites for Ruby and Sapphire remained in the ROM and they just added the FRLG sprites at the bottom.

Each front sprite needs to have at least one battle assigned to it, so that's why there are also 82 unused battle slots.

The reason there are 89 overworld slots is because gen 3 games support up to 240 overworld sprites but only 151 are used by FRLG, though you do have to physically add more yourself, so that process is not as easy.

 

Perhaps they wanted to include some of the Ruby and Sapphire trainers in a post-game battle facility, like how the Battle Frontier from Platinum was directly ported into Heart Gold and Soul Silver, even keeping the front sprites that aren't used anywhere in Kanto or Johto. But when that did not work out, they just decided to add the Battle Frontier to Emerald and keep the rest of the front sprites in the game as leftovers.

I tried a bit of a more difficult one with the channeler as well as tried my hand at a pretty simple male.

It still feels like the boobs on the breeder are off somehow even after messing with them. Maybe it’s the length of her torso?

The word Hermaphrodite is an amazing word. It's derived from the name of a Greek god "Hermaphroditus" the child of Hermes and Aphrodite. Two of the most attractive of all the Greek pantheon, Aphrodite specifically being the goddess of love and beauty. And Hermaphroditus themselves were said to be extremely beautiful.

 

Also Hermaphrodite is a proper medical term with a long history and linguistic roots. Intersex is a made up word created by people who got offended because they were too ignorant to understand the words meaning, and it has no real linguistic roots. Your own sighted sources prove that much. The only way the word Hermaphrodite could be seen as insensitive when correctly used has to do with the nature of the person and not the nature of the word. In that manner "Intersex" is just as insensitive, as it still removes a person from traditional norms.

 

"Ignorant" describes a lack of knowledge, education, or awareness, often used to indicate someone is uninformed about a specific topic.

 

I'd understand getting offended by a slang term as slang terms are often created to carry a derogatory nature. But there is nothing derogatory about either the word Hermaphrodite or Futanari. Being offended by a proper word is like if someone was offended by the word blue. It just doesn't make any sense, and it only proves that the person getting offended lacks knowledge.

 

I understand why someone would dislike the word Futa when it's specifically misused to describe someone who is transgender, as that would be derogatory. The same way people would often misuse Hermaphrodite in the 80s and 90s. This is an unfortunate reality of the fact that transgenders are typically unaccepted by society and most people don't understand the correct meaning of these words. Transgenders will likely never be accepted by society at large as they are the result of unatural body modifications, and humanity tends to dislike body modifications of all types. That much has been a constant throughout history.

 

My intention was to educate. I don't want people getting offended and fighting because of ignorance. Futanari is a proper word, not a slang term for transgender. The person who requested a Futa character used the word correctly. Viewier's initial response made me worry they didn't understand the word. I'm just sick of cases where individuals are offended because of someone misusing a word to be derogatory and those offended think that uprooting our language is somehow going to fix it. It won't, the problem is systemic. People don't like things that are uncomfortably different, and that is especially true in the case of other people. Some express this through hurtful words and actions.

 

I personally do not support transitioning. This is because I believe that for the overwhelming vast majority it is simply the wrong path in life. It is quite normal to feel uncomfortable in one's own skin at times throughout life. Yet our society has tried to convince people otherwise. And even though we routinely convince ourselves that such discomfort will never end, that is rarely ever true. Most people will suffer far less if they can accept themselves as they are, instead of trying to transition into something else.

Channeler is the only one that isn't compressed. Try sending them in a zip file.

Channeler is unlikely to be accepted without at least a few edits since she's my favorite trainer class, minus Lass and Hex Maniac (not for lewd reasons).

Her arm in front of her face does look great, though. I may just tear it off and place it on a different lower body.

Hopefully now they shouldn't end up weirdly compressed.

 

And yea channeler is a fun trainer class visually. Any specific edits you got in mind? If not I'm all down to just have the arm section chopped off and used elsewhere.

Also, it's really funny that Lorelai is the only one who got extra walking sprites because they expanded on her in the Sevii Islands.
That's why Lorelai is the GOAT. I think the reason she's first is because she wanted to battle the most trainers to weed out weaklings.
