Anybody know a good alternative besides skype thats trust worthy and independed.

MS gather your info through skype and sell it to third partys plus i don't realy trust MS.

Same reason why i use waterfox(firefox) instead of IE or chrome which i don't trust even less then skype.

Also not happy with performance of skype its avarage quality.

I know of VIBER but have to investigate more if its reliable and can be trusted?

I use skype for live chat through mic/headphone talking with friend.

Just wanne know if you guys know better independed one with good performance?

Im not discussion here if im right or not about MS or Google, i won't change my mind, so don't bother trying convince me :D

P.S Ok i just find out viber i need to install first on a mobile phone or i can't use it, but i don't have a smartphone lol

Richard Stallman in partially pleased.

That said, a few years ago I looked for an alternative and did not find anything. I hope something appeared since then.

After what NSA did, i doubt there ever be an alternative. Man this looks like 1940 all over again minus the killing yet.. Where is the 3rd world war when you need it..

Not sure what phone you have but have you tried facetime ??

teamspeak or Ventrilo and google hangouts as well but if you don't like chrome doudt you would like to use hangouts.

also last I checked these three don't support cameras.

Hangouts supports cameras.. what the hell are you talking about?

Ofc people are just as leery aboug Google as they are about Microsoft. Also, Hangouts requires a Google+ account.

I may be wrong, but I think Teamspeak and Vent require servers that people pay for. They're for clans and guilds and stuff like that.

Teamspeak requires paid servers (or rentals), but you can host your own Ventrilo server on your machine -- if you're so inclined and know how to do such things. (I use Ventrilo all the time to stay in touch with some family that moved pretty far away -- much more reliable than the terrible cell phone coverage in this backwoods hinterland I live in. :P)
