So far I got two motivations: Greed and Anger. The Greed part wasn't too far off from the link of that youtube video I posted 5 hours ago.

Any strong emotion. Just go with the seven deadly sins.

Didn't know gluttony was an emotion. Perhaps a combination of emotions?

I'd say gluttony is an emotion and has nothing to do with hunger (which I would say is not an emotion).

So basically stress.

Edit: There are actually quite a few emotions that come with gluttony.

In my opinion, gluttony and greed a nearly the same thing.

So that narrows it down to 6 deadly farts sins. At the end of the day wrath is just a product of fear and sloth is just apathy towards a particular group or groups but that is just my take. I'm not well versed in psychology. This is a subject that deserves to be looked into. Just not tonight.

I've had people tell me that people aren't stupid. It just seems that way because I have an IQ of 160. However, I find that hard to believe when I see people in the grocery store who don't understand the simple concept of, if you're going to stop and look at something, get out of the middle of the fucking aisle. Also, if you go to a movie theater, don't bring your fucking baby with you.

Yes.  Without those labels the manufacturer is open to massive fines in our overly-litigious society from minor scrapes and burns.  You can thank McDonald's and their 210 degree F coffee for that and the lawyers that went well beyond the skin graft their client asked to be paid for.

Just sounds like the coddling nature of humans or other animals to some degree. Was going to happen with or without that lawsuit.

While I've never read the actual report, I have heard numerous times that the reason behind the the lawyers going for such a big lawsuit in that case was due to one and possibly two factors.

1. For certain, the reason had to do with McDonalds ignoring the simple requests (plural) to pay for the medical expenses.

2. For not so certain, the stupidly high amount in the lawsuit may have been that it had to be an idiotically large sum, just to get the corporate heads to take any notice whatsoever rather than just ignore it as yet another cost of doing business.

Some people  love to trot out that old McDonald's verdict as evidence of, I don't know, a legal system out of control, or something like that? They base their judgment on "dumb woman burned herself with hot coffee, blamed McDonald's, won a lot of money." But that's not how it went down. Wikipedia is not renowned for its authoritativeness, but this article will give a decent background. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald's_Restaurants

Just an observation. I have read a few articles about the ideal brewing point of coffee. It is somewhere between 167-206 degrees Fahrenheit which McDonalds was 180–190 °F. Still imagine blistering coffee like that going down your throat. Even if it doesn't injure you 3rd degree burns can't be healthy. McDonalds probably should have had one of their employees wait for it to cool down before serving. Preferably an employee with a thermometer. I'm not a coffee drinker by any stretch but there is a semi-guarantee in the food and drink industry that your meal won't injure or kill you. If there are coffee drinkers that want their coffee hot enough to shorten their lifespan they can make it themselves.

In the end it sounded like both sides were held responsible to some degree(no pun intended) and a valuable lesson was learned that day or not🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️.

One of the observations I heard at the time was this. When you make coffee at home, it's typically brewed at like 140 F (roughly). Then it's typically poured into a cool ceramic mug that rapidly sheds heat. McDonald's coffee at time was brewed at 180 F then put into an insulating styrofoam cup.

When you make coffee at home you don't put into an insulating styrofoam cup with a lid. You then don't stick the cup, of whatever material, between your legs while you remove said lid. The temperature is really the issue here - the issue is why would try to remove the lid from a cup while the cup is between your legs. The old girl must have been desperate for that caffeine hit.

And the vehicle wasn't moving when she spilled.

But hey, let's just fall for the corporate propaganda.  It has electrolytes, just what plants need.

"Tort reform." One of the many vapid cries on a certain side of the political spectrum in the U.S. "Solutions in search of problems." And I have no doubt that the "tort reform" criers would not be satisfied with nothing if they suffered third degree burns on their crotch and inner thighs necessitating $10,000s in medical expenses.

Not long ago I was a bit of a killjoy but that was not my intention. Sometimes people get themselves lost in stories of heroes and magic. While there is nothing wrong with that sometimes I feel like people have a hard time separating fact from fiction. Much like stories our world has it's own rules and logic. I don't want to ruin the child like wonder of the world but I don't want people to fall prey to snake oil salesmen and hacks.

One person's killjoy is another's pragmatist. When I've said in conversations that love is just chemistry (which means it just physics, because everything is physics) a few people have taken exception to that notion, a couple of them quite vociferously.

Well, I don't drink coffee so I'm no expert.

gluttony is a higher tier of greed really, but I'd imagine ego which leads to ignorance leads to stupidity given ego blinds you to thought and truth. just my 2 cents on it.
