mastering48 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 I need help installing some mods for Skyrim SE. I've looked through tons of information, I'm confused and desperate. Can anyone help me with installing mods? At least figure out what I did wrong or what I'm missing? All i need is to add to the game basic sex, with people and creatures in the game.

mastering48 Posted February 4, 2025 Author Posted February 4, 2025 Well, it took time. I have read the pdf file in the first link named "Mod Organizer 2 & Other tools From zero to "Hey Sexlab is working!". I did all steps. Lets sum up what I have achieved. I managed to start a new game from an alternative start. I managed to start a sex scene with another character. I still have questions, because I was not able to fully check whether everything works correctly. 1. in pdf instruction they recommend use SOS mod. But there is problem, I will quote: "You will need an updated .dll file. The problem is the original user maintaining SOS for SE isn’t active anymore. You can try the multi-edition installer or a similar .dll replacer that matches your game version.". Also they say i can you alternative: SOS Light. That's what I did. I installed Tempered Skins for Males - SOS Light Version - part 1 and part 2. But for some reason the MCM didn't see this modification, by the way, just like some others. If you look, there are quite a lot of mods in the game initially. But MCM only sees: Sex lab, Sex lab light me up, SKY UI, SL Anim Loader, and Mfg Fix. 2. the second observation that I made when choosing which version of mods to install is: most mods consider version v1.6.1170 as SE, but there were some that considered v1.6.1170 as AE. In this situation I was more focused on the version of the game as I have it installed v1.6.1170, but its SE. I don't have AE. 3. During testing of sex scene, I couldn't switch the pose. Despite the fact that there are settings in the sex lab and I went into them, but when sex starts, I can't choose the pose I need from the list. And the pose is chosen randomly each time, as I understand it. I haven't figured out the second, third and fourth links yet. I want to consolidate what I have.
traison Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 6 hours ago, mastering48 said: But MCM only sees: Sex lab, Sex lab light me up, SKY UI, SL Anim Loader, and Mfg Fix. MCM stands for "Mod Configuration Menu", it is not a mod manager/list. If a mod that's supposed to have a MCM menu is missing, check the Papyrus log. 6 hours ago, mastering48 said: I was more focused on the version of the game as I have it installed v1.6.1170, but its SE. I don't have AE. You almost got that right. The version number is all that matters, not what you paid for, not what the receipt says, not what Steam thinks you have. SE is everything in 1.5.*, AE is everything in 1.6.*, thus 1.6.1170 is AE. 6 hours ago, mastering48 said: The problem is the original user maintaining SOS for SE isn’t active anymore. When AE came around there was issues with getting SOS updated, so people changed over to SOS Light with degraded performance (presumably). After that a few dlls came about but version support was spotty. It should be fine now though, but finding the correct dll could be tricky considering all the forks and bandaid solutions around. 6 hours ago, mastering48 said: During testing of sex scene, I couldn't switch the pose. If I remember correctly, that's not a feature in SL. The list you've seen most likely comes from SL TOOLS which can be a bit tricky to find sometimes, probably because its old and there's a few fixes and variations around. The one I've used for ages is called "Patched SE SL TOOLS Updated". In this case you can ignore the "SE" part because the mod contains no component that would be allergic to specific game versions. 6 hours ago, mastering48 said: And the pose is chosen randomly each time, as I understand it. Depends entirely on the mod that starts the animation. From the animations added to the SL thread, a random one is picked initially.

Getting the correct DLL is a bit tricky, if you consider finding the proper DLL by using the recommended forums posts (i.e. SL Index or Compatibility tracking posts) to check for up to date mods a tricky procedure. It's pretty much install an additional file and go. 7 hours ago, mastering48 said: 2. the second observation that I made when choosing which version of mods to install is: most mods consider version v1.6.1170 as SE, but there were some that considered v1.6.1170 as AE. SE and AE are terrible ways to tell versions apart because everyone will have their own definition of what really is and isn't SE or AE. For example I don't consider 1.6+ versions to be AE because Steam still calls this game SE in my library and the "Anniversary Edition" is a paid DLC, not something you get for free or by letting Steam update your game to the latest version automatically. But all it matters is the version numbers match so.
mastering48 Posted February 4, 2025 Author Posted February 4, 2025 Thank you for helping me. I decided to give up the full version of SoS. Will use SoS light, looks like it works fine. Managed to fix the problem with poses. I installed Patched SE SL TOOLS Updated and UIExtensions (SL tools was asking it). And now I can choose a pose from the list. Thanks for advice. I have question about nonconformity in some poses, for example, when penis try penetrate forehead but according to the animation concept it should be face fuck pose. As far as I understand, the sex lab automatically aligns the actors at the beginning of the act. I even tried using the alignment key manually. What advice can you give me in this case?

Animations are made with X body sizes and proportions in mind (animation author's choice). Unless you replicate that author's exact setup you'll need to do some manual adjusts. Use the hotkeys to move actors and the schlong so it aligns better. When you do SL will generate a new config file (a json if I remember correctly) storing that info so next time you start that same animation your changes will be applied automatically, also works for future saves if you keep said json file somewhere in your mod manager.
danna233 Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 I think all animations are made for a Nord woman. So if you play someone tiny, like a Breton, you'll have to manually adjust the animations in the sexlab menu. I play a Breton, sometimes I have to raise her up 4-5 notches. It's better not to lower men down, otherwise they'll fall into the floor with their feet. Group sex is generally impossible to set up correctly because of the bunch of actors, it's not clear who's under what number.

To get proper actor alignment for everything, enable "Even actor height" in SL's MCM. Note however that this does not undo NiOverride edits like leg length, that requires script edits.
mastering48 Posted February 5, 2025 Author Posted February 5, 2025 I found body slide preset on this site I would like to try to use it, but I do not understand how. If I install it, will my character have the same shape and clothes will also adjust to my shape?
Just Don't Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 Install preset. Open Bodyslide, select installed preset in the corresponding field. Batch build everything you use. Now your game will have all female actors using that preset. If you want only your character to have that preset you'll have to look into mods to apply presets dynamically. OBody NG is my recommendation there. It has an installation article already so check that if you're interested.
mastering48 Posted February 5, 2025 Author Posted February 5, 2025 Wow, OBody addon impressed me. When I played pre-made builds before, there was no option to change the body. This always upset me, because I remember that when I played Oblivion, there was such an option. I can see my preset in OBody menu. Also it sees my current preset as Unknown/Unassigned Preset. Is it possible to save it, and should I ?

It remembers your pick after switching preset for the first time. If it's still saying unknown I'm not sure, never had that in my game.

OGB6969 Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 Couldn't really find an appropriate topic for this, but: I have a great deal of animation packs from various creators. When I run (with no errors) FNIS XXL it shows that I have: "5506 animations for 14 mods and 45 creatures successfully included." But when I run "SL Animation Loader" after activating all the animations, in the in-game MCM there are only around 600 human and 400 creature animations loaded. Am I missing something simple here?

OGB6969 Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 That makes sense. That's bothered me for years. Thanks
