AngularMomentum Posted May 30 Posted May 30 (edited) Hey there.  I know this isn't my mod, sorry if I've stepped on your toes with this, but I found that the book was missing on my playthrough (my guess is that it was removed by Famine), so I cracked open the GECK and got to work adding a "My book is gone!" option that simply adds it to your inventory when you close the menu. While I was there, I also made a number of other changes to suit my own taste, as I feel like the diaper stuff was too overpowered in a gameplay sense, and I hated the bars always taking up space on my HUD. I'm providing this here so that you can take whatever you want from it and add it to the original mod (or don't use anything, I'm fine with that).  I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm playing this as a "real" mod, meaning that while I love diapers, realistically I am wanting this to fit in with the rest of the game in terms of balance and the world, because I also love New Vegas. I'm using it alongside a real NV playthrough with tons of other mods (JSawyer Ultimate Edition, Famine, Mojave Arsenal, etc etc) where I also want to enjoy the game itself, rather than just having fun with nude/sex mods. While it's quite a stretch to have people being totally fine with me walking around in a diaper all the time in settlements, that's a suspension of disbelief I can live with because it doesn't happen particularly often. What I can't live with is having gameplay changes that effect the whole playthrough, especially if they are unbalanced, so I did what I believe is a reasonable balance pass, even though I know the intention of this mod seems to be to just have some cute/fun diaper gameplay in NV without really taking the time to balance it around the rest of the game, and that's totally okay. For me, I like how the resource management of using diapers (especially while incontinent) fits into the rest of the gameplay. Yeah, it's a cute fetish mod that lets my character wear adorable diapers and other amazingly cute outfits, but it's also a genuinely interesting part of my gameplay experience, and I feel like that elevates this mod and makes it a significantly better experience for me - I don't have to choose between a challenging, gritty New Vegas playthrough or a fun sexy romp, I can have both, and that's great.  Anyway, I've uploaded an ADDON that needs to be in your load order AFTER the original mod, it doesn't replace it.  - Added a "Show Bars" option to the MCM. When disabled, the HUD bars will no longer show up. You can already see your diaper status by checking it's Condition in the pip-boy, and you can ascertain your piss/poop status via corner messages. - Added a "Add Bonuses" setting. When this is disabled, you won't get the repeated potty use or the Well Rested bonuses, as I feel these are too powerful for not a lot of effort. You also won't get the +10 AP recovery and +15 weapon damage for relieving yourself - Added a "Play Sounds" setting. When disabled, the corner notifications won't have sounds. I found the sounds overly loud and too annoying (especially the pee notifications) - Added a "Auto-Use Toilet" setting. I play with a controller on my TV sometimes, and so I am lacking buttons. With this option enabled, sitting on a toilet will automatically pee and poop in it as needed. This is a big help when using my controller. - Added a "Stinky Diapers" setting. When messy, you will have a debuff that reduces your charisma by 2 and Sneak by 10. This debuff can be removed by using a toilet (to simulate wiping yourself). I know there's been talk in this thread about bathing needs, but I couldn't find anything related to it in the mod. I hope I haven't duplicated functionality here! - Added a "Help, I've lost my potty training book!" menu option that will add a copy of Potty Training and You when you close the menu. - Incontinent perk AGI changed to PER as I feel having a permanent +1 AGI is quite overpowered - You will no longer be able to manually poop and pee when sitting on a toilet if you're Incontinent, so it's an actual penalty. - Talcum Powder recipe now requires Flour as well as Abraxo Cleaner, but produces 2 Talcum Powders. Abraxo Cleaner was a bit too easy and meant I would basically always have access to +1 CHA when shopping or talking to anyone, which is a decent buff for not much cost.  There's a reasonable chance some of this stuff is broken and doesn't work properly. I was in a hurry and unfortunately, while I don't mean to speak ill of anyone, the code in this mod was quite messy and difficult to work with unfortunately, so I've probably left out some conditions or not accounted for something.  Probably the only gameplay thing I am unhappy with right now is the bedwetter perk. It's very trivial to bypass any drawbacks by simply taking off your diaper before you rest. Since pissing in a bed doesn't really do anything, it's basically free upgrades at no cost as long as you remember to change into and out of your diaper and armor when resting. I would probably use an AuxVar to mark a bed as "soiled" and not let you sleep in it again until you use a Box of Detergent to clean it.  ALSO, just an interesting/cool note: Since I'm actually gay I don't use any female body mods at all. And yet when diapers occasionally show up on female enemies/corpses, generally it doesn't looks particularly buggy. I know the vanilla models aren't supported, but that's kind of neat. Honestly I feel like diapers on NPCs should be made unplayable, because it's kind of strange to take and use someone elses diaper.  Since you're already using JIP LN, I would recommend setting some auxvars (https://geckwiki.com/index.php?title=Auxiliary_Variables) on diapers to track if they are wet, messy, etc. This way we can do things like always give the player a messy diaper debuff even if they change out of it and in to something else, then change back. It might also make for cleaner code if you use them for trackng the players needs rather than quest variables (and making things as event based as possible rather than a big looping quest script). But this is just my advice. I'm a somewhat proficient modder and I am working here under an alias because I really, REALLY don't want this being associated with my other mod work.  With permission, I wouldn't mind doing a complete rewrite of this mod from scratch (using the same assets) at some point if possible, to make it properly event-based and using modern mod development techniques (like UDFs, auxvars, etc, rather than using a big looping quest script for everything). One thing that would be particularly nice would be to have diapers that can track their state and then change their textures based on auxvars so that it's really easy to change the diaper textures to visibly show how wet/messy they are (maybe even switch to "leaked" versions that show smears on the players skin or something), or have it get bulkier as it's condition goes down, and do it all dynamically based on state and have it remembered by each diaper independently without needing new item types for each state. This would still require a bunch of extra assets, though.  If someone was to create the right assets (for males and females), and if I had permission, I would love to add a bunch of really nice features, like: - Dynamically changing clothing models to show diaper bulk - Dynamically updating diaper textures and models to show when they are wet/messy by staining them and making them bulkier - Showing "burst" or "leaking" diapers, both by having the diaper itself be leaking onto the player model, and by having "soiled" clothing/armor models - Proper tracking of the wet/messy state of each diaper - Other optional features togglable via the MCM, such as making all crucifiction victims naked and wearing diapers - Other nifty features like maybe a quest involving locking plastic pants that can't be removed without finding a key  DLNewVegasExt.esp Edited May 30 by AngularMomentum

Yeah, that'd be absolutely fine. Admittedly, I'm a novice when it comes to scripting. I had no idea AuxVars were a thing and I don't fully understand UDFs either. I didn't find a lot of great resources to learn how to mod, the wiki is great but some articles can feel a bit advanced for a caveman like myself.  As far as the design philosophy goes, I made everything into a bonus because I didn't like the way I did it in version 1.0. In 1.0, there were more debuffs and penalties for not fulfilling your needs and it just wasn't my cup of tea. If you're more into the survival side of things, that's totally fine, I just focused more on the silly "Wild Wasteland" side (I let the players throw turds, after all).  But yeah, I'd be very interested in your advice as a more experienced modder.

So don't feel bad about it.  21 hours ago, Watermylawn220 said: As far as the design philosophy goes, I made everything into a bonus because I didn't like the way I did it in version 1.0. I think with enough customization options the mod can be good for everyone.  It probably seems a bit strange having someone use a weird sex mod while caring about balance and authenticity, but we certainly exist, all 3 of us.  21 hours ago, Watermylawn220 said: But yeah, I'd be very interested in your advice as a more experienced modder.  Basically, you've duplicated a bunch of scripts. Each diaper has it's own unique script, which is uhhh very bad. It's going to be a nightmare to maintain. Code duplication is almost always bad. Instead of having a separate, unique script for each diaper type, which will require making any change multiple times, it's probably better to use auxvars on the base form to determine the characteristics of a particular diaper, and then using a generic script that reads those characteristics to determine how to behave (like which "balled up" diaper form to use)  I don't mean any offense by this, but it's a common problem I find among many projects, especially mod projects. Instead of finding someone who knows what they are doing and collaborating, a lot of people try to make code work themselves, and programming tends to be incredibly insidious because you can get something working pretty easily and it tends to give people a false sense of security. Unfortunately getting something working isn't really that difficult as it's quite easy to hack something together, the real problems will happen when you need to expand on things, iron out bugs, and add more details, which is where projects fall apart because they don't have a good fundamental basis to work from. I completely understand wanting to roll this yourself though, especially since it can be quite difficult to ask for help for niche fetish mods and a lot of experienced modders find this stuff objectionable, so I get it.  Anyway, I will get to work on this and see what I can come up with, but it should be much easier to add features in the future.  If anyone wants to submit the art for the things I requested above, I will try to implement them. The only hard requirement is that there must be parity between males and females - so if someone decides to make, say, "bulky" versions of armor to show a diaper underneath, they need to do it for everyone. Otherwise we will get feature inconsistencies and other annoyances and honestly that's an issue I find in a lot of adult mods (most of them only work for men OR women, usually not both, especially sexy clothing mods).  My top priority for art would be having wet/messy and wet AND messy versions of each diaper, and being able to swap out the textures/models. AngularMomentum Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) I think what's best for now would be to just have some wet and messy textures for one diaper type (probably the basic white medical diaper would be the easiest), that can be dynamically swapped in based on diaper state. This would be a good test for a new diaper tracking system. Edited June 1 by AngularMomentum

AngularMomentum Posted yesterday at 01:10 PM Posted yesterday at 01:10 PM I'm really, REALLY not an artist. Does anyone feel like contributing wet and messy variants of the white medical diaper? Nothing detailed, even if it's just a 5 minute job, I just need SOMETHING I can use to test the new diaper state system.
