Slickbutter Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Trying to move my mods and such from Skyrim on Steam to Skyrim GOG It seems that some of the mods are working, but there are parts that clearly aren't in the very beginning. Alternate Start - Doesn't activate, just begins mainline quest RaceMenu - The bodies and such seem to be showing, no naked people or invisible parts, but the menu for changing very specific aspects of your character isn't present. It's just the default menu and has two additional menus that start with a $. Like "$expressions" On another note, Devious Devices does seem to be working, I assume. See, you know how the wrist bindings are usually in front of the character in vanilla? Well, once everyone got off the carriage, their wrist bindings were now behind them. So that's a sign some if not a lot of mods are working, supposedly. Here is the mod list. All of it is either up to date or has a GOG version. But I didn't select an older version of any mod unless it says that is the latest GOG version. Sorry for only taking pictures. I tried looking online on how to make a list, but it doesn't seem that's a built in feature for Vortex.
Yinkle Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Not sure what all the fuss is about switching to GOG. Yes, you aren't forced to update, but as mods are updated on the Steam side of things, you will inevitably want those improvements. Newer GOG versions could take a while or not even happen.
FauxFurry Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 You may need to find alternatives to those mods or a specific GOG version of the mods. In the case of Alternate Start, it is best to swap it out for Alternate Perspective. RaceMenu has an updated GOG dll available so you will have to download those if you want RaceMenu to function.

I was just hoping to have at least one version of Skyrim I never have to worry about it changing, and I also don't have to worry about accidentally updating anything when I just wanna play the game I finally successfully modded. 5 hours ago, FauxFurry said: You may need to find alternatives to those mods or a specific GOG version of the mods. Hmmm... I did download that... 1179 DLL and put it in the Vortex Mod list. Oh crud, did I do it wrong? Was I supposed to export it in the game file directly or something?

Did you load it before or after the main file? If it is loaded afterwards, it should function.

So I tried to check the plugins, but I only found Racemenu GOG, but not the patch in there. So I can't compare the load order numbers.
Slickbutter Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Okay, found the Loadorder text file in %localappdata%\Skyrim Special Edition GOG And I realized, despite the Racemenu Patch GOG 1179 DLL being enabled, it's not appearing in the Plugins menu, Loot, or even the Load Order Text file. I decided to take a look inside the zip folder, and it has a folder reading SKSE, which then has a folder reading plugins, then the actual file which is skee64.dll How do I get this file to be active in Vortex?
Just Don't Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Enable it as any other mod. Load it after Racemenu or any other mod conflicting with it. You'll never see it in the plugins list or LOOT because it's just a DLL replacer, you still need Racemenu for the other files. Just overwrite the DLL with the GOG patch one.
travelmedic Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Do you have the proper SKSE for GOG? It uses a different version.

Just to make sure, I just need to install the patch like any other mod in Vortex? I've already done that, but the issue still remains the same.
Just Don't Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Like I said it's a two step process. If you only install it and then let Vortex overwrite the patched DLL with the one from your Racemenu install then you're not using the patched DLL. So step 2 is key and should be something you do for every mod with a conflict, it should be easy to spot even in Vortex. I hope.

Without the patch, SKSE won't run and say Racemenu GOG has an error and needs to be updated due to the DLL. With the patch, it opens the game. But the issue still remains that the Racemenu menu won't turn on. I did some more looking around and SkyUI, which I believe opens the MCM in the pause menu is also not showing at all. I have version 5_2 installed. This may be related, or maybe it goes deeper elsewhere.
