(Solved) Is the Downgrade Patcher needed for Creation Kit on older game versions?

I want to install Creation Kit for Fallout 4 and Steam is the only way I can since no one uploaded it to Nexus or other legit sites like they did for past Bethesda games. Problem is my game doesn't have the next gen update installed so Steam will probably try to install an updated Creation Kit if it can even install it with my app manifest file set to read only for FO4.

I see that the Update Downgrader mod on Nexus has settings regarding the CK but no one has been able to answer me on the mod page or Reddit so I'm asking here: Do I need the Downgrader to make CK work with Fallout 4 even if the game is not on the next gen update? If yes, can I run the Downgrader for ONLY the CK, without it touching my game since it's not even updated?

You can't get the CK from any legit sites other than the official distribution platforms.

The patcher has specific arguments and settings to downgrade the CK. Use that. Is it needed? probably yes, want to test? don't downgrade it, use it and see if your game likes the new files or not.

Nexus has both Skyrim's & Oblivion's while the wikis have FNV's/FO3's so its wild FO4 is out of touch. Also if my app manifest file for FO4 is read only, will it still be allowed to download CK or can it install elsewhere

Where are you finding this? All I see are fixes, patches or other files for the CK, not the CK itself. Older titles is understandable as Steam wasn't the only source back then. But since Skyrim all the CK have been released through Steam, and only Steam since the Bethesda launcher was discontinued.

Try it. If it doesn't work you can just use the console to get the 2 CK depots and use those files to downgrade the CK. But if the CK has its own appmanifest you should also set it to read-only.

guess not anymore then cuz my skyrim creation kit downloads came from Nexus way back then, not Steam & cant find em in my tracked mods anymore but i still have their standalone zip files backed up like every mod I download.

also CK doesnt get installed to the game folder anymore? thought it needed to hence why I asked if I can run the downgrader without touching my game & if steam will allow the download with the games manifest read only?
