For those of you that aren't a fan of the AI images... @eddyboy and I have worked together to get a mod started.

Hades 2 Free the Nipple Edition
Like its predecessor, Hades 2: Free the Nipple Edition modifies the sprites of Hades 2 to be spicier while still staying true to the game's original visual style.

Unlike its predecessor, it is a Team Project: Package compiled and uploaded by Kuipo. Art compiled and created by Eddyboy, involving contributions by Dorian Bates, Medician and Emikochan.

This is currently developed for the 1.1 release of Hades 2. NOTE: You must be using high resolution textures to see the replacement images.

What it changes:

Currently this mod only replaces the artwork for:

  • Aphrodite
  • Artemis
  • Hera
  • Melinoe

Over time as Eddyboy creates more art to implement we will update more gods.

Install Instructions:

Install of this mod is the same as my mod:

  1. Install r2modman https://thunderstore.io/package/ebkr/r2modman/
  2. Run r2modman, and create a profile
  3. On the left of r2modman select Online
  4. Select the "Filter" button in the top right and check the "Allow NSFW mods" to enable NSFW content and select Apply
  5. Search for FreeTheNippleEdition and select download (Say yes to installing dependencies)
  6. Launch the game by selecting Start Modded in the top left of r2modman

Link to the package on thunderstore for whatever reason if you want to install it by clicking the "Install with Mod Manager" button:

https://thunderstore.io/c/hades-ii/p/FreeTheNippleEdition/FreeTheNippleEdition/

Thanks to Eddyboy for making the art on this with help from Dorian Bates, Medician and Emikochan.

its SO GOOD, thank you both @Kuipo @eddyboy for the collab

not working on my end. just default textures. could it have something to do with the recent Hell2Modding update? NSFWResprite still works though.

Same here, sadly! I made sure to follow the instructions carefully.

I tested the NSFWresprite AI version mod, to make sure it isn't just me and that one worked flawlessly.

I did see this error maybe it has something to do with that?

To those curious why their new mods (ie, Hades 2: Free the Nipple Edition) don't work with their old mods:

For some reason, you will have to manually remove the old mods from your file directory. Uninstalling the mod alone will not be enough. You can use both mods at the same time, but there is some finesse required regarding how it overwrites. It is my suspicion that game prioritizes based on installation date (old prioritized over new).

It was a fresh install in my case, i didn't download hades 2 and r2 mod manager until i saw the free the nipple edition mod. I only tried the AI mod after once i noticed free the nipples mod didn't work.

Do i need to reorder perhaps? Or is the load order already correct once it's downloaded with dependencies.

If you downloaded Kuipo's mod (which overwrites every portrait) you will have to both uninstall and manually delete it from your mod folders (config+plugins+plugins data) before installing another portrait mod.

Mod order appears to be ignored, or at the very least I have not been able to figure it out, so the only remaining solution is the above.

i actually install kuipo's mod manually, not through r2modman. i remove all directories and files associated with it whenever i try a different mod which are:

plugins/Kuipo-NSFWResprite

plugins_data/Kuipo-NSFWResprite

config/Kuipo-NSFWResprite.cfg

unless there are other stuff i need to remove that i'm not aware of, then there's definitely something wrong with FreeTheNippleEdition.

and like @LohseHere said, they had a fresh install and only installed kuipo's mod AFTER they tried FreeTheNipple and didn't work.

I've added both AI mod and the Nipple mod through r2mm, and manually installed two other portrait mods. I have only ever had one issue (that included Hell2Modding) which was resolved by fresh installing the short list i wanted + all dependencies. I now only have that short list + the Nipple mod and all their dependencies.

uninstalled everything, removed all residual files and directories, installed ONLY FreeTheNippleEdition and let it install its dependencies. still nothing. it shouldn't be this complicated to troubleshoot when it's basically the same implementation of kuipo's resprite mod. i guess i'll just ignore this mod for the time being.

I'm assuming you also went in and removed the entire r2mm hades folder (AppData\Roaming\r2modmanPlus-local\HadesII), is that correct?

I hadn't yet updated to 1.1.5 which I've just discovered is missing the portraits (the new ones could be there, but I can't force a bath scene to check lol)
https://thunderstore.io/c/hades-ii/p/FreeTheNippleEdition/FreeTheNippleEdition/versions/ for 1.1.4

i doubt that would do anything since it only contains a YAML file named window-state that has the following written on it:

windowWidth: 1536
windowHeight: 816
maximized: true

which is pretty much self-explanatory what it does. if anything, it should be appdata\roaming\r2modman that would make a difference if deleted but that would also delete every profile and configuration changes i've made which i'm not too inclined to doing right now. i'd rather hear from the actual creators of the mod first.

I think that's on me; some of the portraits are not in the folders you expect them to be (meaning not packaged with in the respective god's .pkg). Sadly, I don't have much time on my hands currently, but I'll get toward more development on the mod towards the end of the month.

Man, what a blunder.  I make a post about the mod and make a release for it that's broken *shakes head in shame*.  Anyway, I've fixed the issue (that was literally just an extra quotation mark) and added two new images from Chloranthy for Hera displeased and Artemis default. It should get pushed out to the thunderstore at some point here soon.

I would also add that you should try to use r2modman to install the mods via their online section as then you can simply disable and enable different mods in the client. It's true you can't have my mod and the free the nipple version enabled at the same time but I swap between them just by toggling these buttons:

The mod does seem to run for me now. Looks great! I did run into Artemis and her portrait was not showing up proper. Her body was invisible. I could see her eyes when they blink and some other effects only.

Oops, I see that Chloranth already reported that!

I’ll take a look at Artemis tonight. I don’t have as easy of a way to test her so I will spend some time and make sure it works.

I found what I was doing wrong. I fixed it and it shouldn't happen again (I hope lol). 1.1.7 should fix the issue and all the images should show correctly now.

Artemis is showing up for me now, but she looks a little misaligned. The blinking eyes are up at the top of her bangs, and the bottom portion of her legs at the hem of her skirt is cut off and repeated. It's a little hard to explain. I can post a screenshot if you need it.

I've released version 1.1.13 for my Hades 2 NSFW Resprite mod.

I added the last female character in the game that I hadn't replaced yet, Persephone. (I still haven't encountered her in game so I kept kind of forgetting about her.)

1.1.13 - 2025-11-15

  • Added completely new portrait for Portrait_Persephone_Queen_FiredUp_01

artemis's serious expression is fine but the default expression is scaled a bit small

also, not sure if you've changed artemis and hera's codex portraits, but they're still the default. only aphrodite has changed.
