Dr. Sax commented that the moderators would prefer mods to be uploaded to the Downloads section. There are two good reasons for this. On one hand it helps the moderators do their job by making sure the mods that get uploaded are legit and follow the forum rules. On the other hand it really helps us users because, as Dr. Sax pointed out, once this game explodes in it's popularity and mods start pouring out it will become very, very difficult to hunt through possibly dozens or even hundreds of pages to find mods in a thread. Better that the mods be in Downloads section so that they can be browsed through easily.

They just need to make a forum area for this game then instead of a single thread.

Yeah this is so annoying and pretentious on the mods part. This is clearly a game that is going to be extremely popular as far as modding----but we have to pretend it needs to prove itself rather just making the obvious choice.

Sims have years of mod development.
Will take a looong time until we have actual good mods of good quality and not MS paint nipples.
Even longer for custom animations etc.

The game is very barebones, not many careers, not much to do really.
Zois just stand around most of the time doing nothing, even with smart ZOI enabled.

we already have custom anims actually just only camera moccapped for now

we thought the same for baldurs gate and that section is practically dead atm

(mostly because the main sex mod dev just keeps disappearing without telling anyone)

When I made my account, it was encouraged to post paywalled mods because the spirit of this site was that of the spirit of modding

Maybe that was encouraged, but never by us. Modders who paywall have more incentive to dmca us than regular ones, and we have always been in favor of staying online.

The spirit of modding isn't about any stance on monetization, it's about making mods. Not telling others what to do with theirs. Not plastering stolen mods over our pages. Not sitting around asking why there aren't any mods yet. Or for that matter demanding that a new section gets made for a game that we don't yet host a single upload for. I'm sure it'll get made when there are a few.

plenty of nsfw decor mods have come out but outside of that its just the nude mod

sadly i dont think many people who are posting mods know of this place, or just decide its not worth posting here

Not really, this plugin just makes it faster to import into the game. you can import models into the game easily through the documents folder using glb format.

One question, can you import a character model from another GLB formatted character model? or do you have to wait for the blender mod kit?

Haha, that's interesting. I hope they just don't want to release mods on this site, because at least that means they are making mods.
Maybe in the near future I can search on Google and find out where they release mods. Of course, I still hope they will release them on Loverslab.

I wasn't demanding anything—I was commenting, but about the paywalled thing, here's a genuine question: How can they DMCA something they don't have the rights to? If they do not own the game, I've always been taught that it's illegal to make mods and monetize them because that's piggybacking off the developers. They can't submit a claim when they own neither the assets nor the game, correct? If anything, it'd be a false claim with no legal power behind it.

Whether their monetization scheme is legal or not doesn't make their mod fair game for anyone to copy or re-distribute.

The first depends on the game dev - not all are against all forms of monetization to begin with. Even if they are, they often don't do anything about it. Even if they do, a cease & desist or DMCA will end the infraction before it gets to court. It's only definitively illegal if a court has pronounced it so.

Meanwhile, if the modder has made the mod from scratch in blender or something, they definitely own the asset. Whether or not their distribution of it for a particular game is illegal, which again, we don't know until it is. Even if it is, their ownership of the asset isn't automatically transferred to the game dev, let alone the community at large.

you don't need to own the game to own the meshes and assets you create. It doesn't matter where those meshes -go- they're still yours. obviously this differs if youre using meshes and textures you don't have the licenses to.

Adding onto this, companies benefit from the modding scene and modding takes -time-
We should be less inclined to defend a company's IP, and more inclined to support individuals who dedicate their time to making our experiences more enjoyable.   The company benefits from modding scenes existing, it's free algorithm mentions and advertising, keeps their game's active player base alive for longer. They're good, they really don't need lil guys like us worrying about their IP on their behalf.

if you are so inclined to worry about paid modding, then go remake the paid mods, for free, and make them better. that's the answer.

...Decided to try and find the game somewhere just to see if my computer can run it...I didn't bother going through all of it, just messed with the character creator for a moment. It runs, I may get the game on Steam soon-ish. Kinda bored with Sims 3 anyways even with the mods (that bug out and lag the game all the time, lol).

why is it so hard for people to understand that locking mods behind a paywall does nothing but hamper the scene itself? modding should be a unified front, not treated as paid DLC.

Why is it when a new game comes out and we don't have perfect week 1 mods this place always devolves into people complaining about paid mods? How many years has it been and ya'll still too broke to drop $10 on something? Do you even consider how infinitely harder it has become to make these mods from the free ones you were used to 10 years ago? First you have to decrypt files, you have to make new textures- including all the textures that effect shading, you have to paint weights and do new rigging- and then probably scrap it and do it all over again when there's clipping... and after a whole days work trying to do that the game is going to probably crash the first time you import it. AAAAAND after all that the next patch of the game is probably going to break it and you have to fix it again.

Paid mods DO NOT hurt the modding scene... if anything it gives motivation for those willing to put in days of work making a mod- and help lessen all the people making requests and complaining.

If you can't afford the price of a DLC to see some titties, you either need to rethink your finances or you're too young to even legally be on this forum.

Maybe if you bother to read the thread or remember the previous discussions that came before it, you wouldn't have to ask yourself again why people don't see the value of a $10 mod that's going to be inevitably replaced by free mods instead while there are much better things costing $10 like expansion DLC or even full-fledged games containing significantly more content than just a singular nude body.

I know where this goes... the thread either will get locked or severely pruned. Yeah people don't see the value in a lot of things... I'm sure people don't see the value of eating a nice meal you're just going to shit it out the next day... but it's the pleasure you get from it and it took some people really know what they're doing to make it that good.

I know this always goes nowhere with these people... but at least this time the mods are watching you. Post links to stolen mods and see what happens.
