Is there a sharing thread for tattoo pack configs people have set up for Rapetats? I could have swore there was. I blew up my old mod list where I had like 900 slavetats configured T_T

I don't know if there's a sharing thread somewhere or not. If it helps you to get started, here's my current settings.json (in ...My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\JCUser\rTats) settings.json

I'll put some info about it in a spoiler.

How I defined the misc. categories:

Thank you for clearing that up. I just want to save 1 esp slot by removing Fade tattoo and use Remove your tats SE. Thank you for your work, hoping for the next update to come soon.

Anyone use this with Practical Defeat Reanimated? I may just be getting unlucky but I'm not sure if its scenes are triggering tattooing. Will try turning on 100% chance and see if it works.

The newly added tattoo is not saved properly in settings.
Perhaps this is because OneDrive changed the path.
Is there a way to fix this?

It categorizes each tattoo that I have installed - excluded, unassigned, face, hand, etc. That way if you have 12 tattoos they're not all sitting on top of each other - only 1 tattoo can be applied from each category (except unassigned, they are always available). I thought you wanted a starting point? Instead of doing it from scratch? If I was wrong, just ignore it.

You can, but it does require form ID compression, which can break mods that integrate with them (IIRC there were one or two mods when I was looking a while back whose Rape Tattoos integration references by form ID directly, which ID compression would break, although I can't remember off the top of my head which).

I think if you set 'Tattoo Color Mode' to Fixed and select black all the tattoos will be black unless the tattoos themselves have assigned colors.

Then you would need to add colors to the .json files of the riekling and orc tats you're thinking of. I'll attach a .pdf describing the process, if you don't already know how. Slavetats colors notes.pdf I put it together from various comments in the Slavetats support topic some time ago.

 

I don't know of an easier way to get what you want.

What are you wanting to do? Generally, they're just the information slavetats uses to find and place the tattoos and not something a player needs to adjust. They can be tweaked a little (see my previous post where I include a .pdf on how to add select colors for a tattoo). 

If you're wanting to create a tattoo pack I believe there are one or more tutorials in the slavetats support thread.

I saw rape tats pack. 

And author linked Jason files for them. I don't know where to put them

Got it. The folder with the images and the corresponding .json file go in:

Special Edition\Data\textures\Actors\Character\slavetats\

 

I'm surprised the .json file wasn't with the pack you're using, but stuff happens. To make it easier to install with your mod manager you might consider adding it to the pack's archive file so it's easier to install/uninstall later.

If they linked a JSON file specifically for RapeTats, it may also have been a RapeTats config file, rather than the tattoo definition file - I know the mod pages for some of Alpia's tattoo packs for example included replacement settings.json files for RapeTats. In that case, it would go in:
<Your home directory>/Documents/My Games/Skyrim Special Edition/JCUser/rTats/settings.json

Be aware though that if you've done any RapeTats tattoo configuration yourself via the MCM, overwriting that settings.json file will also overwrite any MCM changes you've made. If you check the "Configuring tattoo groups" section of the RapeTats mod page, there's some additional information there.

 

That said, it's hard to tell exactly what you mean without some more specifics - if you link the mod in question, we can give you a definitive answer.

Ive been having a problem where the tattoo config shows up and saves fine, and I can apply any of them manually using both SlaveTats and the Rape Tats menus, but it seems the script for rape tats is not running at the end of scenes or using the debug keys. It doesnt show any kind of message about not being able to find a valid tattoo or any sort of indicator that anything is working at all, and I only know that the debug keys are supposed to work because I looked through the logs and saw that when I pressed the button it tried to call a function but it seems to fail every time. Im not sure what would be causing this but I included the papyrus logs so hopefully that helps.

That... looks really broken - the main RapeTats script read the MCM for whatever reason. I can see that the MCM quest is starting though (and presumably if you can see the MCM, it's there, but something's preventing it from populating in the main RapeTats quest). Things I'd check:

  • Make sure you have all of the correct dependencies installed
  • Check that you have nothing overwriting RapeTats
  • Open up xEdit and check if anything else is modifying any of the RapeTats quests
  • Verify whether you still see the issue on a completely new game
  • Try seeing if there's a mod incompatibility. As far as I'm aware there shouldn't be any real incompatibilities unless something else is messing with RapeTats directly. I'd probably try stripping out the bulk of your adult mods from the load order, keeping RapeTats & its dependencies, then starting a new game. If it works, try re-adding mods until you identify the issue. If not, then I'm out of suggestions to be honest - this is (or should be) basic Papyrus property-filling - I don't see how it would break like that unless something is overwriting RapeTats or messing with the ESP.

Thanks for the quick response! Turns out its most likely a save issue, and it sucks because I truly dont know what broke it. I went back to my earliest save on that character and it was broken even then, and ReSaver couldnt fix it either. I dont think I installed this mod mid save, and I hadnt uninstalled anything by the first save either, so Im really not sure how it broke. 

 

EDIT: Right after posting this I had a final idea for fixing it, and it worked. I disabled Rape Tats and saved on my current character, and cleaned that save, and then enabled Rape Tats again. Now it works. Really not sure what broke it, but I managed to get it working again at least

You need to assign them a location:  upper back, lower belly, etc. That way only 1 tattoo per category, er location, will be added and avoid tattoos being applied on top of each other in the same spot. For tattoos you want to be considered no matter what, select "unassigned" - any number of tattoos can be used at one time from the "unassigned" pool. I usually mark my fullbody tats as "unassigned".

having an issue i think with rape tats. when using debug to add tattoos, i set the number to 20 and hit N. it added 8 and skipped the rest. when pressed again, it added none. then i cleared all the tattoos and tried again. it again only added 8 saying it filtered out all the rest. it was the same 8.

i tried using the setting files from both alpia and no overlap. both showed the same behavior. i also had one time where it said it applied 19, but only 3 were visible, and slave tats and fade tats both only registered 3 aswell.

 

loaded mods:

slave tats SE v1.3.9 (not NG for the moment)

rape tats continued v2.0.3

fade tats continued v2.1.0
