Luckily I still had my offline installer files so I could revert to 1.6.659 (one of the reasons why I absolutely LOVE the DRM-free GOG version).

THAT is the word of true wisdom.

The main -or only - advantage of GOG : the DRM-free files. Download them for once and keep a copy under your pillow. No matter what people say, I always kept my good old v359 and v659 in the fridge. And reactivate them at anytime when something crashes. Blah-blah, you're no owner of anything, you just get a right of using whatever daily shit version we provide to you, blah-blah. F*ck off all this and keep you beloved game FOREVER.

So I said, and did.

Last advice, use immoderately 'Curation Club' to remove the most catatrophic CC content which eats your memory, encumbers your graphic files and degrades your playing quality . It's quite incredible how the game works better WITHOUT.

To extend your game experience, trust real modders, not the commercial staff.

Well this made me decide to buy it on steam instead rofl. Kinda sad nobody supports the GOG version. I like the fact that bethesda cannot force an update on you in GOG. Meanwhile in steam you get forced to update.

I'm running GOG 1179. Not sure what won't run on it now. Even Estrus has been sorted out.

This. So much this. Using the newest GOG version.

Came here looking for guidance when I reinstalled after a two-year hiatus. Ignored most of what I found and installed everything I wanted anyway. I've openly used things where it says they don't think it will support GOG/is awaiting an update without issue - just don't use massive changes (IE sexlab P+) that don't and you'll be fine.

45 hours in to my new playthrough and I've crashed maybe 5 or six times, had animation issues at the start (which running Pandora AFTER FNIS fixed) and that's it, really.

That wasn't bad for purely vanilla Skyrim back in the day and I'm running 1365 plugins. Most things like Address Library now work across versions. Just read. Take  your time putting your list together and familiarise yourself with the directory structure - all things I would have said almost ten years ago when I started modding Skyrim.

I run SL P÷ 1179 and it's smooth.

There are a few modders that will doggedly refuse to update for 1179, even while releasing for 1170 and older. But I make do without. Only harm is their rep.
