Problems of Survivor v. 1.4.4 Voiced

I created this as a companion to DSHV's  mod Problems of Survivor The download link is here. This mod adds audio voices for the female player and all hominid NPC's.  Animals and creatures other than Supermutants will still be silent.

 

I created two versions. The original mod is required for BOTH VERSIONS. One contains a plugin that replaces the original mod's esp.  If you want that one, Click the file labeled "replacer" and download as a standard download.  The zip file should be able to be installed with your mod manager like normal.  Just remove the original mod's esp. from your data folder or override using your mod manager. I didn't make any edits to dialogue or the quests. I only added voice tags to the NPCs. 

 

BE SURE TO CHECK THE DOWNLOAD FOR MISSING VOICE FIXES. 

**This will be in a regular state of update until the missing files are all accounted for or until I give up trying.**

If they are in the folder, then you need them.  I'll remove them when I update the full mod.

 

The other version is an override plugin that only includes the edited NPCs.  If you just want to install that and override with your mod manager, it should work fine.  

 

I'm still testing this mod myself, so I'd appreciate any bugs, problems, or feedback. This is the first mod I've published, and I'm by no means an expert at using XVA Synth.

12/5/22 - New version of the mod is available on Mega.  I included some missing male player voice lines for two quests. 

Added a separate download in the download tab (and to Mega) for all male player voice lines (for people who want to play this mod as a male player for whatever reason. You do you.)

It will take some time to compress the updated version including the missing male voice files to the Mega link.  Until I post another update, use the original Mega file you want and also the missing voice file above this post.

All download links have been updated to v.1.0.1.  Both the Override version and the Replacer version now include the missing male voice files for two quests.  An optional download on the Mega Link and in the download tab on this page will give you Male Voiced Files for all quests. 

 

Enjoy, and please report any bugs or problems.  Understand that XVA Synth is not perfect, and tweaking individual voice lines is apparently possible but currently beyond my skill set. I may update this mod more as I learn more.  If DSHV releases an update to his mod, I'll update this one accordingly.

Looks like some of the voices didn't transfer.  Known Quests so far are Triumph of Justice.  I'll upload a fix when I have it ready.

 

***UPDATE*** For whatever reason, Creation Kit isn't applying all the dialogue to the proper NPC's in some quests. For now, I am aware that the first scene in Problems of Survivor, the player is unvoiced, and in the very next quest, Triumph of Justice, the Prosecutor and the Advocate are unvoiced. I'm at a loss as to why. If I can figure it out, I will update.

yo I'm talking to Brutus rn, me and him are voiceless still. I have tried both versions of the mod

 

this mod is really promissing, dude. Didn't work for me YET but I'm already thankful for you doing it

Thanks for the heads up.  I'm working my way through the quests now.  My experience is that most (ie more than 50%) of the written dialogue has translated to the voiced mod.  I can't say how much yet.  I went through the original plugin to see if I could figure out why some of the quest dialogue just didn't translate through the creation kit into the format that it should have.  Real life is going to slow down my progress, but the current version of the mod works "well enough" to justify its continued use in the current state.  If I can find the trick to getting all dialogue voiced, I'll probably release entirely new versions. And I'll probably load the voice files into .ba2 format to hopefully cut down the file size from over a GB.

 If the spouse synths have voices, then I can make them an appearance that completely copies the appearance created from the beginning of the game. I think it's better to add such patch here than to my mod. It seems logical.

nice, I use this mod here to convert all my elegible mods into BA2. It's pretty much a bat script, very easy and fast, way better than Bethesda's Archive2 imo. Not sure if it also works with voice files though, but you (/anyone reading this) can use it in your own modlist

 

ALSO Mod Manager is not setting the Data folder properly bc of the way your mod was packed. Right now MO2 is considering Data/Data/Sound/Voice/ProblemsOfSurvivor etc. Meaning there are TWO data folders, I changed it rn (cutting and pasting the sound/... folder into the original FO4 Data folder and my character has voice now, but Brutus still doesn't. I'll try the .esp Replacer version now to see if I get a different result

Works for me.  I can create the voice files no problem.  The issue I've run into is that the Creation Kit isn't pulling all the dialogue from the quests.   Triumph of Justice, for example. The Judge and the three jurors work fine, but the Prosecutor and the Advocate don't.  CK sees the aliases for those two NPCs. It registers the Voice Types I chose for those two NPCs. But it doesn't export them... I'm stumped. ?‍♂️

Thanks for the heads up about the file structure. 

Wait... Did you download from Mega as standard or as a zip? Because the files in mega are already zipped, so you should just download as standard.

I managed to fix the missing voices from Triumph of Justice. I had to manually create the template that XVA Synth uses to synthesize the voice files.  Just tested them and now the prosecutor and advocate are voiced along with the rest of the characters.  This fix will work if I can identify all unvoiced dialogue. But it'll take awhile...

Can you do me a favor and test this fix? 

 

I think Brutus and the player should be voiced now, but I'm not at that point in my testing to check it myself. Let me know if it works.

 

It should work through your mod manager, otherwise extract and move the files to here: Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Sound\Voice\problemsofsurvivor.esp

I also did some testing and I can say that it's working, even without the "Brutus Fix" files

 

When your first meet Brutus in jail, with a clean save, he's voiced for me, but in my original savefile (700H into the game), I already have max-affinity with him and he's still unvoiced. I'm pretty sure it's related to some other mod changing his voice type (Original is AAANoVoice and your mod uses DLC03MaleMaineAccent)

 

I tried many things on FO4edit (changing the OG mod's esp to make his voice the MaineAccent one, using AFT to change his voice) and nothing works. All of Nora's voices are OK when talking to him, it's only Brutus himself, his mouth doesn't even move while talking. But don't stress about it dude, it's something on my end, I'll run more tests later and I'll tell you if I find something

 

Everything else is working perfectly so far (I tested all of Goodneighbor)

 

also I never tried the Maxim Dickson storyline (the mod's main plot), but I'll give it a try with these voices. Some characters not having voices is ok for me, as long as Nora is voiced most of the time this is still gonna be nice

 

 

 

EDIT: if you know how to check/change a character's current VoiceType IN-GAME via console commands or Resaver it would really help me in the investigation lmao

So far the player starts the Maxim Dickson story unvoiced, but only for the first couple of dialogue stages. Her voice kicks in right before Triumph starts.  I have no idea why.

This is really a whole new try for me as I had never installed a voice enhancement mod. So what all I required to do is just unzip the replacer and replace the original .esp in PoS1.4.4 right? Just ask for insurance.

It should just be that easy.  The zip contains an .esl plugin and a .ba2 archive. So both should go in your Data folder with the rest of your plugins. Your mod organizer of choice should have no problem installing it.

Does this voice pack work with the latest Problems of Survivor which is dated 31/1/2023, especially as the old esp of this voice pack will be overwriting the newer esp?

It should work for any quest that wasn't changed by the update. I'm working on a full update for the latest version, but you'd be surprised how time consuming creating voiced files can be.
