netruss1964 Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Is it better to run SSE instead of SAE for full functionality? Should I just go back to SLE? If SSE is better, What is the best way to roll back from AE? I have been away for a bit. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Gukahn Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Grey Cloud is getting another Link for his ever growing List. To keep it short, from the few things I see (I don't follow it regularly) Most things should be fine with AE now. You just need to look out for specific mods that requiere the newer SKSE Version for it. Schlongs and sexlab are two of those examples. If you want to avoid AE like most do https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618
yorpers Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Lots of people are very opinionated on this. Personally I stay on 1.5.97 to use this mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21294 I have found it invaluable to diagnose crashes. There are crash logging tools for AE but they don't come close to how good the one built in to this framework is. I would not recommend LE if you plan on having a large mod list, as it can not handle esl flagged files.

They were almost identical, just to compare the experience. I had about 420 some mods running in both. There are newer mods available now that look good but are only available for the x64 versions. As I am building a new game I could go either way but SSE is smoother and crashes less, I resent the AE and stopped playing as it was being exposed. Thank you for your input. Still looking at it.

Not a single Problem after choosing the full patcher. I can't say for the best of Both. Cause.. It's the Anniversary Edition, there is not a single fucking thing i want from that, especially not their new bugs ?
Yinkle Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 The involuntary CC mods that AE adds without your consent are a bit of a turnoff but apart from that AE seems to work fine for me with my hefty (and growing) load order. Most skse dll plugins have been updated but if important ones for you haven't then revert to SSE. Otherwise it's just about patching correctly.

Maybe one other must have mod, but .Net is at the top. That said, my LE was more stable, probably because I had fewer mods? I wish I could have SE and AE in different directories like LE. The more frustrated I get with SE the more I consider going back to LE. But I did notice a performance increase with SE so maybe I just need to go back to very basics and slowly add again. LE we didn't have ESL flagged mods, but we did have the ability to merge plugins with the merge plugins tool. That enabled me to run about 500 mods and be pretty stable....ish.
anjenthedog Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Quote I wish I could have SE and AE in different directories like LE Can't speak to LE as I never played it, but I agree 100% on the principle. I'd like to check out the new content in Cyrodiil (already have Beyond Skyrim Bruma, and I love it, but it's just that down toward the imperial city things get almost wireframe, and to say its underpopulated in both NPC/Creature content and in events, is an understatement, although understandable considering that it's basically a preview), but I don't want to lose my 1.5.97 game vectors or features in order to do so (Or to spend days or weeks "upgrading" my SE game to AE mode.
