I have just solved my problem with skse. I have installed some mods and the game opens to the startup menu and then goes out. Suggestions?

While I agree with @Gukahn, as far as it goes, the most common causes of your problem, in no particular order, are:

 

1) missing a master (thus the request for your load order) - your mod manager should point this out

2) using LE mods in your SE setup (or vice versa if your post is in the wrong forum), and

3) animation issues of various sorts including having more animations than your version of FNIS can handle

Depends on your Modmanager. Should be easy to google,

for Vortex it would be C:\Users\NotGonnaCopyMyName\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition
