Permissions are the same as Devious Devices mod:

  • You can NOT post this mod or any of its parts (including any derived works) outsides of LL without my explicit permission.
  • You can NOT incorporate any of my code in any for-profit project (Donations/Patreons are fine as long as they are strictly voluntary and don't offer the donor any tangible advantage over non-donors)
  • You can NOT incorporate any of my code in mod that's going to be uploaded to Bethesda.Net and/or made available for consoles in any other way.
  • You can NOT use any of my code in a closed source project. No exceptions, ever. No need to ask for permission either. I won't give it. Even in my wildest dreams I can't think of a good reason not to publish a mod's source code.
  • You can NOT publish a fork of this mod without my permission. That includes porting it to other platforms/games.
  • You CAN otherwise use my code for your own projects as long as you include all source code with your distribution and allow others to use your own code in a similar fashion. And give proper credit where it's due. All above rules still apply!

I am just getting ready to start a new play through of Fallout 4 and this looks fantastic.  Definitely adding this to my mod list.

There seems to be something wrong with the image files. For some reason, I can't open anything in Gimp, and naturally I have the DDS plugin. No dice. Are you using some codec nothing recognizes, save for the game engine? I believe BC3/DXT5 is the best one for exporting DDS files with. Well, whatever the problem is, I can't open the files.

Could you download the file and try to open it' see if you get it working? Maybe try reuploading the file?

The Gimp is not capable of reading/writing some of the DDS compression modes. You're better off using Paint.Net for reading and writing DDS files (for example, open DDS with Paint.Net and save as PNG, open PNG with The Gimp and make whatever advanced edits you want then save, open edited PNG with Paint.Net and copy the image content, pasting it over top the content in the DDS then save so that the original image options are retained).

Thanks for the advice. I had a preconceived notion that paint.net was no longer in service since I heard about paint.net before when troubleshooting the issue on really old forums; when I went to enter the url 'paint.net', I got nothing. Perhaps at one point it was there, but not anymore. You telling me of paint.net shattered the precedence that it was old software that wasn't around anymore. I tried googling paint.net this time and found it that way.

My hat off to you. Where everything else failed, paint.net... actually succeeded. I was actually able to open the file. Best of all, I can resave the DDS in the BC3/DXT5 format and open it in GIMP. GIMP has the Hue blend mode that makes a color another color but keeps saturation and luminosity in tact. It's easy to get green from red, but paint.net doesn't have blend mode 'Hue' as it is.

Yes, I do almost no actual image editing with Paint.Net, I basically use it for reading and writing DDS files as described above, and do all actual editing in The Gimp due to its superior UI and featureset.

Regarding the claim that it could work out of the box for Skyrim. That simply wasn't true. The texture paths are different between Skyrim and Fallout 4. Not to worry, fellas for I have moved all of the textures where they need to be in order to patch Skyrim's Devious Devices. Here's what I've got. I even put in the extra effort to recompile the DDS files into BC3/DXT5 format so then can be opened in GIMP.

Credit goes to Alcater for generating these textures for us.

This is fine RC8, I am guessing.

I've been using it with DD RC8 for about a year and it's worked fine for me.
