Collections or Wabbajack

The idea of installing mod by mod is coming to an end with the invention of collections on the side of vortex or Wabbajack on the side of mod organizer.

Does anyone know of lists of auto-install mods?

That's cool. You're still limited to the premade conception of a modded game made by someone else. There is nothing in there for someone who knows how to install and setup mods.

I Have installed sexlab so many times... , even in vr. But  premade conceptions runs much better that anything have seen or do.

That's on you. Even if you think premade modlists are cool you need to understand they come from the experience of someone who installed mod by mod and manually resolved conflicts for that modlist to work (hopefully, otherwise all you get is a mess). Now imagine being able to do that for any amount of mods instead of a premade modlist/collection. That is not going anywhere. People who currently can't do that and aren't willing to learn and reach that potential will choose the easier alternative. That's all.

So I'm not saying WJ or collections won't have their use. Of course there is a target for these things, otherwise WJ wouldn't have been made or Nexusmods wouldn't have pushed so hard for collections. It's far from being the end of installing mod by mod though.

Premades are great for people who don't want to go through the trouble of building a modlist for whatever reason. But, like anything else prebuilt, they're never gonna be specifically tailored to everything the end user might want, and so there's always going to be people who are willing to build their own mod lists from scratch.

I only can see value for those lists / collections / Wabbajack setups when it comes to frameworks or bootstrap setups and even there one can argument, that you already come across individuality:

The only thing, where it (Wabbajack specifically for this example) could be useful is to automatize the setup of a real basic foundation: MO, SKSE, clean basegame plugins and tools like LOOT or FNIS.

Maybe you also could add a few SKSE bug fix plugins, like SSE Engine Fixes, but everything that goes beyond that already is individual.

Let's take S.T.E.P. as example: you CAN follow the whole list, but you also can only cherry pick what you like and change the rest if you know what you do.

Or maybe SexLab: yes, you have the framework with its requirement tree, but then? Everyone has a different taste, wants different animations, uses another arousal mod, wants to achieve an individual goal. One wants to add romance, others humiliation.

Where do put the line? The framework? But basically an arousal mod is a must have. Which one do you want? SLAX, SLAM, SLA Baka, OSL Aroused?

And most of those big lists are set up in a way, patched and tweaked, that it's A LOT harder to build upon one of them and individualize it than just builing up my own list mod by mod

Ironically, that basic "bootstrap" wabbajack just doeesn't exist, or at least I've never found it. Always too much extra built on top of even the lightest lists, so you have to do some reverse engineering to get going.

i found this wabba name on a mod page and went looking for it, what i was curious about is, it is a good idea only if the pack is soley made by one group of people mods that designed it to be all perfectly working together and they are following really close the changes they make to keep it that way, but still if you look at the base game its a pack on it own, if you want all the same game go for it. but its sad that from what i red, that it also ruined mods for people that wanted their own mod list, just keep it separate somehow plz...

Nope.

Everyone's installation is their own, fashioned by their own interests and enhanced by their knowledge of how to add or customize content with the tools available.
