Can anyone tell me what's going on with this weird main menu?

Half the time when I boot up Skyrim I almost immediately get a CTD. The other half of the time I get this bizarre main menu screen:

Pirated Russian copy of the game?

wrong mod?

A mod tries to use a Font that your game can't display.

Either you use a Skyrim main menu replacer in a for your setup foreign language or you installed a mod that effects game Font.

 

Any mods with Asian characters or Cyrillic font installed lately?

I would guess main menu replacer using Cyrillic script but the menu looks much the same as the regular menu.

You really need to do some reading up on how to mod Skyrim.

 

Just a couple of the more obvious.

Install USLEEP

You only need one of these:

NoNakedCommentsAll.esp
NoNakedCommentsFemale.esp
NoNakedCommentsMale.esp

Actually, not to further prove your point, but I think I might have posted the wrong load order. I currently have USLEEP installed.

It looks like the string files for your set language are missing or have an invalid encoding. Have you let Steam check your files?

So after trying everything I could think of, I just said "fuck it," disabled all my mods, and re-enabled most of them. Now my game's working about as well as you can expect from a heavily-modded Bethesda game. The weird squares replacing the text characters do show up, occasionally. I THINK it's my Bakafactory Bikini Quest mod, but I'm not sure. Regardless, it's working now! Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. ScreenShot2.bmp
