Lately I've been plagued by chronic Event 41 errors that cause my PC to do a quick BSoD and then reset, causing all my settings to default which is VERY annoying. I've explored all avenues, any fixes I have tried enumerable times, brand new PSU and everything in between but NOTHING works. Fortunately I had the presence of mind to log every reset and discovered it is an Event 41 (LSS the kernel loses power due to a bugcheck I can't find nor narrow down). myuhinny Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 event 41 - the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or list power unexpectedly. Have you tested your components to makes sure none of them are going bad or used something to monitor everything to see if something shows up?
27X Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Repeated kernel-power usually 63/41 is either the northbridge or the PSU failing or one of the components connected to the NB directly thereof failing, usually memory or the memory controller itself, or said PSU overvolting the memory because of failing caps on the memory controller or the PSU simply having a bad rail. The above can also happen because you have the wrong PSU installed. Mobos since around x58 days or so have a very strict list of compatible PSUs that have the right TYPE (stair, sine, stepped) of power which everyone never bothers to check because I AM EXPERT I DOES COMPUTERS MORE GOODER MYSELF, much akin to all the people here that bought 3090s and then paired with CPUs and southbridges that can't run said 3090 for shit, because it has no dedicated scheduler built into it and wonder why they have stutters all to fuck with physics installed and it only gives about 20 more fps in Skyrim more horny edition. Choose the wrong type and your components are more likely to wear out faster, or to be more accurate the controlling chipset or interface on your mobo will wear out faster. If you're using onboard sound or a realtek sound chip, you should also check for crap or multinstalled drivers, which realtek is notorious for allowing, and since about 85% of most motherboards have a realtek sound or network chip (or both)... Also it goes without saying never compromise or skimp on the PSU. ever.

Oh yeah I don't skimp when it comes to a PSU. I've had NOTHING but good results with Seasonic, matter of fact the new PSU is similar to my old one save its the Focus x850 variant. When you skimp on PC parts, the only thing I tell people regarding that is, "prepareth thy tailpipe!" Going cheap is a surefire way of having to replace that part way to early. I did notice on testing the new PSU the Northbridge heatsink wouldn't work. I thought it was just a connection issue, managed to get it running again and just went with that. But now I see that might have been the overall warning; its time to replace this aging mobo. Its an Gigabyte Aorus x570 Elite and I did get it back in 2020. Something tells me this version didn't go live in 2020, might be an older model. Might be high time to retire it. UPDATE: Yup I was right, the first set of Gigabyte Aorus x570 Elite MOBO's went live back in 2019, with some variants going as far back as 2018. For its age it had a good run but like any aging mobo its time to send it to the big nursing home for MOBO's rack.? UPDATE 2: Tried something different with my settings in BIOS. Usually I would let the PCIEx slot stick default settings but this time changed it to Gen 3 profile. So far no Event 41 or any other hiccups. Not sure if this fixed the issue but would appreciate a second opinion nonetheless. Still planning to upgrade mobo though, that's been put off for to long but might be a good idea for others suffering the same issue to check your BIOS settings and make sure the PCIex slot is set to Gen 3 to prevent random Event 41s IF its the culprit. Will keep in the know posted, stable so far.

I just got confirmation that yes, not setting your system BIOS to Gen 3 PCIe slot will make it have random Event 41. What's funny, and also embarrassing, is that a friend told me ahead of time to do just that, but I would forget my own head if it wasn't attached to my neck.?? So far its been 24hrs since I fixed that setting and NO Event 41s, in fact the rig is performing better than it did before. I feel so stupid.?

Still doesn't prevent me from feeling like I cracked open my brain pan and let all the air though.? UPDATE: After still repeated Event 41 errors even after dealing with the config of the old mobo's BIOS I finally got fed up, removed the old Aorus mobo and installed the new TUF Asus x570. So far its running like a dream so 27X was right; after running a test I discovered the Aorus' northbridge heatsink wasn't functioning properly at all. That synced it and is now the, "Dumpster Diving," section of my PC parts. The new mobo is incredible and running nicely only one thing that perturbs me. I'm not sure what to do with this new WI-FI connection it came with. Its interesting, I keep it installed but not sure what to do with it.?
