Right now how do people get notified when there's a new version of a mod they use?

They read the description page of the mod and when they find the button which says 'Follow' they click on it and make their selection. When the mod is updated the user receives a notification on their cunningly named 'Notifications' icon at the top of the page.

This procedure works for any page on LL, not just mod updates.

Haha. Fair enough. Do you get a notification for all posts in the thread? Or just when the actual mod itself is updated?

Hi all! I made a little site for tracking adult game updates:

https://gameupdatenotifier.com/

I'm wondering if something like this currently exists for mods? Or if I should branch out and add support for mods as well?

Right now how do people get notified when there's a new version of a mod they use?

Cheers,

Dan

For games in this section? I simply open a tab on all the new posts for each topic in this forum. As ALOT of the mods shared in this forum, are not uploaded here. So using the follow feature doesn't work. As most mods are offsite or just uploaded into the post when a creator posts them. (Using the attach file functionality.)

Real world example right now. I have 16 open tabs on firefox for topics in this subforum. A few examples include Horizon Zero Dawn, Ninja Gaiden Master collection, Fatal Frame Black Maiden, Bloodyspell, Dragon Ball FighterZ. I do this every time I visit this forum. I start on page 1 of the Adult gaming section, and literally click on each topic that has an update. Read the topic, and if any new mods are listed, download them. Then move on to the next topic.

I assume the "follow" button someone else mentioned is for pages such as this https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/20653-sword-art-online-fatal-bullet-lewd-battle-jacket-f/ (where the modder uploaded the mod to LL's file system. Not in the actual topic.) As this does have a follow option. So does each topic including this one. But at least for me, it's just easier to keep track of each game I'm interested in, in my head, instead of clicking the "follow button."

But a one stop shop for updates in a curated list, would make my life easier. No freaking clue how you'd program it as, like I said, not all creators use the file system for Lover's lab. They mostly just directly attach mods using the attach functionality at the bottom of each post or link offsite to Nexus Mods, or a cyber locker such as Mediafire, google, and mega.co.nz. At least in this forum. For Skyrim? your tool/website would work perfectly. As most modders actually use LL's filesystem.

The mod description page and the support thread are two different things. Both have the option of being followed.

Yeah I did something similar for games before I built my site. Lots of manually checking dozens of different websites every week or so. I feel your pain :)

Ok yeah I read through the Ninja Gaiden Master collection thread, and I see what you mean about it being difficult to program. There's a lot of good stuff there, but trying to figure out which new posts and links to notify about would be tough.

A simple approach would be whenever a NEW NexusMods/Mediafire/etc link is posted in a specific thread, you count that as a "new" mod and send out an email.

But you'd wind up with a lot of false positives where links are posted that aren't really new mods. And it might just be easier to follow the thread itself?

For full adult games, it's much easier as there are more orderly sources of truth like Patreon, Steam, Itch, etc.

Ok thanks that is very good to know! So for files that are hosted on LL's file system it sounds like update notifications are a solved problem. That's great!
