busymonster Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 So, apparently my character thinks she's William Tell, and if you're wondering, she shoots her shot in exactly the direction you'd think from this: https://i.imgur.com/zpp5R90.png However, in third person, all is normal: https://i.imgur.com/hLw2PmZ.png I just went through all the mods loaded in MO2, and disabled them in batches of 50%, and I... have absolutely no idea. Nothing removed this behavior, so it's got to be somewhere in FNIS, or elsewhere in loaded, which is my next 50% batch to attempt, but that's much more daunting. So I thought, before untaking that adventure, I'd ask here. A few things that have my concern: I have a *lot* of animations, just shy of 10K, so I am thinking of disabling some of the anim packs to see if maybe it's an animation overload issue that's causing it to flake. That said, I don't see how too many animations would cause this-- the ability is animated, it's just... I'm playing William Tell if I'm in the first person. I've thought about trying a bow animation change, but that just seems like a recipe for disaster (patch the house of sand with more sand, so I can patch the house of sand later with even more sand: or, the story of whenever I mod a game. Mod it till you break it and mod it some more to fix it). Admittedly, I did try that, hoping that Archery Gameplay Overhaul would address it (it didn't, or I'd not be coming here) Any assistance on where to look that might be causing this? Or am I at the point (since I'm getting an initial install up and running) of "Nuke it from orbit and just restart the whole clusterfuck again." Thanks, and please, take pity on this busymonster (Just don't remember the rest of that line from the poem ) Ed. for the solution, if my travails assist anyone: Per Just Don't, it was either a problem with my install of the XPMSE skeleton or a problem with FNIS not having the skeleton arm fix. Once I reinstalled XPMSE, deleted all of my FNIS, re-generated FNIS with XPMSE at the very bottom of my load order in MO2, the problem is fixed, no more William Tell'ing.
karlpaws Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 From the first picture, it looks like your character's head is inside the bowstring. That might be a problem with the bow model itself, so you might try a couple other bows or see if a weapon replacer is causing issues. I believe the offsets for shooting (whether you shoot high or low from the crosshair) are handled in INI files, but the arrow projectile object has a gravity stat that also determines how fast it falls and how high above your target you need to aim. That should also be in a weapon replacer.
Just Don't Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Skeleton problem or you're missing the arm fix patch in FNIS. For the skeleton you should use XPMSE and nothing else for humanoid actors at least, the arm fix is one of the first patches you see below the buttons when you open FNIS, enable it and run FNIS again.
busymonster Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 Gives me somewhere to look, so thanks. I have XPMSE, I do believe I might have screwed up on a fnis run early on, but I've had that checked more often than not since (have now tried disabling all the overwrite created mods, re-generating FNIS, and then trying again (to no avail, thus far)). Nothing is overwriting XPMSE, the only thing overwriting FNIS was Archery Gameplay Overhaul (I was using the AGO patch for FNIS,)-- I just tried disabling AGO, disabling the previous FNIS run, rerunning FNIS without AGO patch, and while my resting animation for the bow is now basegame, in first person, it still holds the animation wonkily. (One hour later- please forgive any hopping around this post has, I've literally written this over the last hour or two.) This and another search (first person archery bug- I swear to god I searched, just apparently not that specific phrase... I blame frustration last night after spending a few hours trying to fix it) put me on the right track! Apparently I messed something up, somewhere, not sure where, in installing XPMSE. Either I had XPMSE too high in my order in installed mods, so SOS and Bakafactory ABC were over it in the left side of my MO2 (so even though the XPMSE.esp was below those files in my ESP load order, SOS and ABC were overwriting it on the other side) or I just did something wrong installing it, which is always a possibility, once I deleted XPMSE, completely reinstalled it, and have it now both at the bottom of my load order in the .esp order and with absolutely zero things overwriting XPMSE... It works Now to see: what else, where, did I break other things. 'Cause I'm damned sure this ain't gonna be the only thing I've broken.

SOS doesn't matter but the batting order should be XPMSE - MNC - ABC.

nemocdt Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Which first person camera mod are you using?
