SE - Restyled - Plus Plus

A submod for SE - Restyled, a rework of the original SE mods (including fixes for 3.2), enabling clothing (or lack thereof) not found in the Plus setting.

Users of SE - Restyled may find SE - Asset Repackage useful as it saves loading over 100mb of duplicate textures compared to SE - Human - Modest, SE - Humanoid and SE - Humanoid - DLC1: Humanoid Hives.

SE - Restyled is currently in alpha, and contains placeholders for planned clothing that doesn't exist in the originals. See screenshot for example of new clothing.

Yes, it is now possible to play as sexy rogue servitor maids (with the right mods).

Users and modders can request support for SE - Restyled, including:

  • Bug reports (e.g. crashes, wrong clothing, visual errors)
  • Additional settings submods (e.g. if they feel Plus Plus doesn't go far enough)
  • Adding support for jobs/civics/authorities in the Portrait Trigger Pack for their mods (or help in using the pack for your own portrait mods)

Extract the contents of the zip file into your mod folder.

Hi @Arcess,
so I downloaded the Zip-File and opened it - is there no .mod Base File for the Mod-Folder that gets unpacked in the Mod Folder for Stellaris? (I hope you understand my Question :) ) - or does these Files go somewhere else?
Also the Folder-structure in the .zip File got 2 times a a "portraits" Folder... is this correct?!
Just asking, still quiet new to these things - LOL

Sorry, used to uploading/downloading to/from Steam Workshop.

Yes, the path inside is correct.

EDIT: Okay, amended zip file up, includes .mod file and folder and should work if you just unzip it into your mod folder.

This is a very nice addition to the SE portraits. Your prepackaged assets and portrait trigger pack is a very clever idea.

At this stage of the Alpha, have you added many additional features? Or is it mostly reorganized code and 3.2 compatibility. I'm wondering if I should scrap my version of SE portraits in favor of your efforts. I understand you're probably going to be adding more clothing in the future?

This is the mod where I've posted my patches. The two main thing that I think you're missing is Job support for the LoversLab mods (Lustful Void, Kinky Void, LV Additional Things, Etc) and a fully nude option. From my initial understanding it seems that your plus-plus patch enables nude clothing but doesn't allow for an all nude empire (I haven't had time to rummage through the code of all your mods yet).

EDIT: Are you the same author as the Steam workshop uploads (droid.with.googly.eyes) or are you just uploading this on their behalf?

Much of the work went on under-the-hood stuff. It's largely rewritten or refactored code that does much the same as the original, but designed to be more flexible from the ground up. Updating to 3.2 while I was at it.

Originally I wanted to see if I could play as rogue servitor maids, took a look at the asset selectors and differences between them, and decided I might as well rewrite the whole thing.

The way I see it the original SE mods upset people at opposite ends of the spectrum. Users here, for making it difficult to have nudity though it's there in the textures. And those who want conservative clothing, as the asset selectors weren't consistent in their delivery of what was promised in the Soft setting. That's before noting that Human - Modest was missing an asset selector which resulted in nudity.

My personal interest mostly stops at fixing hair and making new clothes to fill placeholders. However, I have also made it easy (for me at least) to add things other people want.

I don't know what sort of work went into your patches but I hope that basing work on my mods makes your job easier in the future.

For example, in the case of a fully nude option, you could make your own by copying one of the clothing option mods (the obvious one being Plus Plus since it's already here) and simply setting the clothes selectors to "no_texture". Funnily enough, users on Steam have requested the opposite, a setting that includes ALL the clothes (both Soft and Plus).

Job support can be a bit trickier and will require a bit of cooperation from me. If you open up the core mod for the trigger pack, you'll find a big pile of triggers representing job categories. If all the jobs to be added fit in one of those, then great! Make your own version of a trigger pack submod, add the jobs to formatted triggers, and send me the names of the stubs to add to the main mod. Then users can just throw in your trigger pack submod and away they go.

If there's a new category, that requires more discussion about what the conditions are and what sort of clothes to use so I can slot it into the templates.

You may want to create a single trigger pack submod for each mod you plan to support to avoid spamming error.log with complaints about missing jobs from mods not present. Original SE filled the log with thousands upon thousands of errors and nobody liked it.

Anyone who wants to make a portrait mod that supports jobs from those mods can simply copy the structure from my templates, fill in their own images and tell their users to add the trigger pack to their playset, including your triggers.

Hi @Arcess,
so I downloaded the new Zip-File and it seems to work fine now, thanks for the Fix.
My main "Problem" right now is in the Game... almost all of my Females are shown with the "Placeholder" as Dress, only rarely I get any other looking Female.
Is there a way to exclude these "Clothes" for now as long as you updated the necessary Clothes in the Mod?! It really does not look nice and is disturbing the experance right now as it is.

Anyway, thanks for this awesome Mod! :)

I do mention that this is currently in alpha and to expect placeholders. They are made obvious so that they are easy to spot in a full release. If you are subscribed to the main mod via Steam, you will see them slowly go away as I fill them.

Seeing a placeholder in Plus Plus means only Soft or Modest versions of the intended clothing were available, and that's probably what you would've gotten in the original SE. That also meant Soft users of the original SE getting upset at seeing more skin than they would like. I can only compromise and make everybody (temporarily) equally unhappy. ?

Though the numbers include repeats, a quick code check reveals Plus Plus users getting more placeholders than any other, with 321 (176 from Plus) for females x2 sizes. I can say though that filling most of those will involve taking the eraser tool to the existing textures. See the screenshot for an example of eraser vs servant clothing.

This is the sort of thing that will eventually replace the placeholders. Original SE body texture underneath to make transparency obvious.

Rebuilt female clothing asset selectors and added some Plus Plus hive clothing for them (see attached pic in previous post).

See my comment on the main mod page on steam for detailed changes, but one of the biggest changes is the placeholders becoming much less obvious.

Turns out I only have to edit another 454 clothing textures all up for females...

In case anyone missed it, the description in the main mod page on steam now has links to new submods for removing baldness/caps for gestalts and horns for elves.

Also a link to tools for anyone that wants to make their own set of selectors with different clothing/hair choices (like adding clothing from mods here ?) or whole new portrait mods on a similar scale to SE if they have the art for it.

We’re you planning on adding more nude clothing? Just curious. I think a lot of us over here would definitely appreciate some more variety.

In order to make both Soft and Plus Plus users happy, appropriate clothing that doesn't exist has been given a placeholder that will eventually be filled. More can be discussed after I'm done with the bare minimum I'm happy with.

Placeholder Counts: (at the time of this post, I can reliably count them now)

Male Soft: 13

Male Plus: 60 (full chest exposure and just open shirts are currently lumped together, let me know if you think this needs changing)

Other versions use either or both sets

Female Soft: 126

Modest: 2

Plus: 112

Plus Plus: 200

Female clothing textures have 2 versions so halve those numbers for a given body type

Placeholders Filled or Clothing Fixed:

Male Soft: 1

Female Soft: 12 (4 of them aren't released yet)

Female Plus: 4

Female Plus Plus: 22 (one of those shown above)

I'm more or less done with converting asset selectors to be built with my tools (scripts and templates under source control) so I'm back to filling placeholders. Also fixing if I notice issues with the originals. Can't...unsee...shoulders clipping out of clothing...

Samples of the unreleased ones for comparison, original on left, edited on right (note the far shoulder), Plus and Plus Plus versions to be made next. Just have to figure out how to make them...not fugly.

I consider sheer clothing as part of Plus Plus and fulfilling the bare (?) minimum requirements for at least 1 texture shown for each setting. Still have to do the other size, but here's what I mean (from left - original, Soft, Plus, Plus Plus).

Took an age and resulted in scrapping and restarting work multiple times, but managed to fix clipping and a jacket that could poke an eye out. And Plus Plus versions. ?

The best part is being able to reuse pieces for oligarchic (to be done next).

I didn't really like the tie in the original clothing. Threw in extra colour options while I was at it.

Never ceases to impress. These are great.

Time for some scope creep. Existing suit jackets will also get proper collars and neckties/jabots (undershirt optional).
