D_ManXX2 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Some mods seem to need this ini especially if you use those tattoo mods, but where exactly does this file need to be placed in ?? i checked and there seem to be misinformation regarding it. some say it needs to be placed skyrim\Data\ others say skyrim\Data\SKSE\plugins\ and third one says skyrim\Data\SKSE\ Witch one is the correct folder ??
PsychoMachina Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Definitely SKSE.ini in DATA > SKSE is needed for skse to work with hi-res textures. I highly doubt it needs to be in the Skyrim folder and I'm not sure about SKSE > PLUGINS folder unless a particular mod states it is needed in that location.
Aleanne Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 PsychoMachina is right. In Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\SKSE
terrorofmorrowind Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 thanks for the clarification. i was also lost lol.
winny257 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 PsychoMachina is right. In Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\SKSE this path is not correct! so must SKSE be installed: Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ skyrim \ SKSE! in the SKSE folder is a folder containing the DATA in the Skyrim \ DATA folder "heard"! Unfortunately, only a German video with the instructions.
TnTTnT Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 this path is not correct! so must SKSE be installed: Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ skyrim \ SKSE! Sorry, my SKSE folder are also under DATA not vice versa like your statement.
winny257 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 winny257 tactical_facepalm.jpg I'm sorry, unfortunately I can not understand what is on this picture? the translator translated no picture! hahaha edit: here is the English video (instructions) Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) : Installing and running on Skyrim 1.6 or later
PsychoMachina Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 SKSE Installation Instruction (you can verify by reading "readme.txt" included with the SKSE archive) (1) These files are installed in the SKYRIM folder. skse_1_9_32.dll skse_loader.exe skse_steam_loader.dll (2) Copy/Paste the included DATA folder to SKYRIM > DATA to install the scripts (Skyrim > Data > Scripts) (3) The SKSE folder (Skyrim > Data) is not included and you need to create the folder yourself, unless a mod already comes with one (example: I added one with the Elins main package). Go to SKYRIM > DATA and create the SKSE folder. (4) The SKSE.ini file (Skyrim > Data > SKSE) is not included with the SKSE archive and you need to create the file yourself, again, unless a mod already comes with one. Go to SKYRIM > DATA > SKSE and create a "SKSE.txt" file. Rename the file "SKSE.ini". If you can't see the file's extension, you will need to "unhide" file extensions in order to do this. Go to "Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options. A window will appear. Click on VIEW tab. Under "ADVANCED SETTINGS" look for "Hide Extensions for Known File Types". Uncheck the box next to "Hide Extensions for Known File Types". Click "OK" and exit from Control Panel. Now all files will show their extensions.
Ailsa Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 PsychoMachina has it exactly right according to Gopher's video - I watched that so often whilst trying to sort some things out
Disney Is Evil Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 i am trying to start skyrim skse, it wont work. when i try to start it a window appers where it stands, (Coulden´t find TES_.exe. you have custemised the runtime name via, SKSE´s .ine file, and that file dosent exist. This can ussaly be fixed by removing the tuntimename the .ine file). I dont understand what to do, fist time modding. Help would be welcome.......
Guest corespore Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 There's more than one way to skin a Horker. You can add the needed info directly to the SKSE.ini or create a custom file-path. It depends on how you prefer to setup your mods. Since i only use the SKSE.ini for tattoo mods when i'm using those mods i packaged the .ini file itself within the mod so it gets un-installed with the mod itself instead of me having to go into my skyrim data and manually having to change it everytime. Also , you can give the .ini it's own separate filepath as stated above, usually (Program files (86), Steam, SteamApps, Common, Skyrim, Data, SKSE), then drop the new .ini inside. If you don't have the appropriate filepath you can just make the files instead. Then create you own .ini named SKSE.ini and add whatever resolution you need for the overlay (tattoo) mod to work correctly. I use 2K resolution tatts so my .ini looks like this. [Display] iTintTextureResolution=2048
