Project Brazil part 1 is out!

I haven't yet tried it out myself (still downloading), but the first part of a mod called Project Brazil for FNV is out.

 

Project Brazil tells the story of your player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18, on the night of the last big Vault-Ball game of the season. The consequences of your player’s decision to dodge or tackle Johnny Matheson shapes the rest of their life, playing as an computer Nerd or a popular Athlete. When the war finally reaches the Vault after one prominent figure turns out to be a member of the Enclave, a civil war erupts overnight, forcing the player to pick a side and escape into the wasteland with their rag-tag party of Robots and Friends.

 

It contains nearly 5000 lines of professional quality voice acting recorded in my media studio with friends from the local film, TV, radio & live theatre industries. The First Installment is set in Vault 18, which is a small world unto itself (like an old-school RPG dungeon) and later the San Bernardino Cajun Pass.

 

What audience is this mod aimed at?

People who like Black Ilse style character-driven content in an RPG. I think that market is pretty exclusive these days, since fallout is now a third person shooter rpg. F:PB is focused primarily on character building, NPCs' reactions to your choices, and branching quest structures that affect the way the game is played based on your actions. So this is aimed primarily at our mod community, which likes new characters and quests, and have gone a long time without any new stories to play through.

Combat isn't as heavily emphasized until the second half of the game, but like stated above, we aimed for a compromise, letting players shape their own experience by ignoring or skipping content, and rewarding those that stay around just long enough to investigate that expanded content, while not making it crucial to progress. The extended content adds depth, but it's there to have an emotional reward to the curious, rather than new perks, stat bonuses, or companions, which are within grasp of just a quick play through of a few conversations.

I like the concept, and I don't mind new characters. I usually don't play the role of the courier anyway. 

 

EDIT: Fucking hell. They should give those guys jobs. First thing I'd do if I ran a games development company - comb sites like the Nexus for promising talent. Four years worth of work, an entire playspace the size of the capital wasteland, voice acting, everything built from the ground up. I am impressed. 

 

It's times like these I wish I was filthy rich like Bill Gates (or your average footballer) so that I could make an obscene donation to that mod and basically make everybody's day on that team list.

I think in some cases they actually do. Oscuro from Oscoru's Oblivion Overhaul got hired by Obsidian, for instance. I think I can remember some article mentioning Beth hiring some modders as well.

Well, I've played my way through the Jock track to the exit, and this mod is just begging for a sexout patch. There's loads of sexual tension and at least one companion who joins the team already pregnant depending on choices you make.

I had been a member of their team for a short while but my free time petered out. I'm sad I couldn't continue helping them but I'm glad they've made such great progress.

Check your inbox and you'll know how well THAT little idea floats, my friend. :P I'm an idea guy (Yeah, I know, it's not like we don't have an overabundance of those. At least I have basic GECK knowledge and know what is and isn't possible.)

Sweet balls of jesus, if someone makes a sexout mod for this whole thing, its gonna be fucking amazing.
The mod already has some sexual tension, the first time I played it, I just couldnt stop thinking what it would be with sexout.

 

 

Anyhow, since this topic isnt about "project sexout" hehe, and more about how happy we are that pb got released, I'll give my opinion on this. Well, starting from the beggining this mod is crazy cool, easy installation and all that, havent tried running it with sexout, but I guess there shouldnt be too many major bugs with it, not sure tho. Story is fucking perfect, I wish the second and third installment come out quicker. The whole playthrought of the vault took my like 3 hours, thats a quick one, I havent been exploring too much. There however is one bug I experienced, not sure how it works out for other people, but when ever I take the enclave/vault patriot side it always bugs out on me and switches sides, like before the elevator I kill all the vault dwelers and after im up, I magically appear on the vault dweller side. So that kinda got me and I just replayed the whole thing on the vault side, could say that the vault side is way more fun than the enclave side.

I had difficulty getting the FOMM installer to install it and finally went to manual install with all the extras needed for the DLC's and such.

 

Holly Mother ******. That mod is huge. For the first time I actually feel like I am in a vault. Vaults are suppose to hold 1000 people or so with their children, and all the resources to sustain them for 100's of years. That means HUGE facility. From the beginning I felt like I was in something big. It takes me several minutes to travel from one part of the Vault running to the other part. Several times I got turned around and once even lost. LOL.

 

Dam, somebody liked to type on the project. Dozens of lines of text in the computer not to mention the story behind the writing.  I have found myself using quite a bit of time reading terminals something I rarely did in the Main game.

 

How about that retro consoles that pop up for waiting? That is cool. Feels like FO1 or maybe FO2. I haven't really played those much.

 

Love is in the air. .. well at least the tension is. You are hard pressed not to find someone to talk to that doesn't show some sexual tension.. it is only a speech/charisma check away!

 

As MCmaddawg states above post. This game is ripe for real conquest sex mods. The conversations are already there.. just need the last "spark" to ignite into passionate love making.

 

More is on the way. I tcl through some walls where there was some stuttering in my game. I found an entire family going through their daily activities and waiting by the door to get out. However no witty banter from them though.

 

EDIT. The girl is for the Jock. It seems that if you are a Nerd you don't get a chance to see her until later. However there are some finished rooms in that same floor that you don't have access to. Don't know if they are remnants or something that might be added to later with some revision.

I went the Nerd route... So not sure how Athletic Route plays out yet.

But so far I know you can show interest to Nerd Punk, Jamie(I Think, The pregger lady), and Annie from the Chat room.

I went the Nerd route and from what I saw there's like, no way to get the preggers chick on your side as a Nerd? But the punky babe it seems CAN, with a pretty high (7) Charisma check, so I can DEFINITELY see the possibilities here. AND, the chatroom girl, as the above-poster stated could lead to interesting scenarios. I really hope we get to meet the chat girl IN the game.

So many options just aching for a mod addition. Not even a big one. Just some simple additions. It is so frustrating that I don't know how to mod... :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry:

I know I can practice and get alot of help here.. however I just don't have the time to right now. Perhaps soon but not now. At least I finally got the GECK installed and not crashing on me.

I wish my computer was more optimized for this mod. TTW was 5x easier on my computer than Project Brazil. TTW may have incredibly long loading times, it does not kill performance.

 

Otherwise, these guys need some slaves from Obsidian to help develop this addition.

 

Anyone else get raped by the Enclave Power Armor Troops?

As far as I know, anything you're playing now is not optimized yet. They're still working on the entire mod so you may need to do some optimizations yourself (i.e. reduce dds size, pyffi the meshes, etc.).
