Sorry - New To Modding and Having Issues - HELP please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

For the first time I have finally tried modding my Skyrim SE (not played it for years but noticed the 10yr anniversary was coming up).  Sadly - I seem to be having a few conflicts ... any help would be super appreciated:

  • The main problem is I keep getting an in-game error message saying SKSE is not installed ... I've checked and all the files are there.
  • In Inventory and Map - There are a load of ???? where the letters should be that tell you what to press for what
  • There is no quit option on the system page
  • I get a nasty graphics crash if I put on the revealing leather armor - but it is fine on NPCs
  • When I ask a Flower Maiden (I think) for sex we both get naked but she spawns into the same space as me (I am a female character).  The sound happens but we both just stand there.  I have clicked the 'female assume male position box in the options menu'.  This is really annoying !!!
  • Question - when I approach non-flower maidens for sex, we get to the 'this place is perfect' and I tell them what to do - then that is it - should there be any animation here??

HUGE THANK YOU  - for any help and advise and sorry for being such a NOOB.  (Mod list below)

Obvious thing is to make sure all your mods, for SE and not LE.

Nope but your best two options (assuming it doesn't say on the description page) are :

Look in XEdit for the cell she is in,

or probably easier an better in the long term, install 'Are You There'. I assume it is available for SE.

SKSE is not just a file that needs to go into the data folder like regular mods. After installing SKSE you have to launch Skyrim through the skse64_loader.exe and not start it via steam. If you have the default installation path the loader should be at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\skse64_loader.exe".
This could also be the cause of all the other issues.

Did you run FNIS after installing Flower Maiden so that the animations got registered? If you don't know what that means you probably didn't.

Huge thanks.  Yes - I knew about launching via Skyrim from SKSE Launcher ... I'd just forgotten it (D'oh).  That has solved a lot of the problems.  In addition - I now understand about 'running' FNIS.  I have now set it to 'Run FNIS on deployment event'.  It seems to be taking a long time to update animations FNIS (more than 10 mins so far - is that normal?) but I am assuming that will make a lot of difference in-game.  I'll keep you posted.

I've also started reading through the (v1.1.3) Mod Organizer 2 & Other tools - From zero to "Hey Sexlab is working!" Guide.  Is MO2 better than Vortex or just different.  So far, Vortex seems to be easy to use and quite professional.

Have fun and much appreciated.

Check out this guide if you are looking for an MO themed installation, it has all the core requirements, tweaks and touches upon every area of mods to have a beautifully modded skyrim. Let me know if it helps or if you need more help.

I usually prefer to skip 'OR' questions due to many reasons, there will be many who might be using it happily without issues. However, instead of saying that I recommend/ prefer one over the other, I use MO2 and any help from me will be limited to it. To leave no doubt, it wasn't without reason that my entire guide was themed specifically on it. There you go!

OMG - That is a 'Getting Into Modding BIBLE' !!   That must have taken a long time writing, it really is appreciated - looks like i've got a lot to get my head into.

THANKS AGAIN
