Disconnect npcs from follower/outfit manager

Are there ways to stop letting mods handle the armors on my followers? I use aft and simple npc outfit manager, I think the latter is the one that keep putting assigned outfits back to my follower, I did disable and enable the npc, resetAI, killing and resurrect, pickpocket and the same armors keep going back, is there a way to stop this?

Actually, the underlying perp is likely to be the vanilla game. It is for this reason that when I made my follower mods I started them out in the buff. That way, the vanilla game did not have a default outfit that it kept trying to put them into. With outfits I have found this to be the best and it gives the greatest flexibility.

Yes it is, but the mod basiclly ties whatever outfit to the npc and I'm trying to escape from that

Then, unless you want to go into the CK, find your "usual" followers and eliminate their default outfits, I'm not aware of anything that will help.

I use AFT but don't manage clothing. I simply distribute clothing and armor to the followers and they choose. That's both those who came with clothes and those who didn't. When those who idle long enough (for instance, if I leave them to their own devices at a player home for several game weeks), they usually revert at some point to their default outfits (or lack thereof), but as soon as I re-follow them, they swap into their favorite "battle armor" and we go on about business.

A couple of them not only swap out as noted above, but they swap various bits of armor seemingly at will and sometimes, seemingly at random. (their inventories are dominated by weapons and armor choices. I carry my own crap)

Yeah I think the game switch from inventory outfit to default when npcs aren't with you for performance reason, aft probably would try to delete the default if you let it manage which is why I go with simple manager, but as beautiful as that mod works it legit suppress the inventory and I'm kinda having problem with that now

Skyrim have it's own Outfit Manager and that's the biggest issue with the outfit managers on the mods.

The native outfit manager of Skyrim can't be disabled and handle the outfits of all the NPC's specially the Followers because on the followers also try to equip the best armor based on the actor skills.

Can't be disabled but can be controlled (more or less).

For example:

The most common issue is with those items that always find a way to get equipped even if you try to equip something else the permanent item will stay equipped. That's because the function to equip items allow you to set the item as no-strippable and that keep the item equipped even if you try to equip another item of the same type.

The solution for that is unequip the item without remove it from the actor inventory but probably is not the only item on that situation because seems to be a list for the actor and each time one item is equiped as no-strippable is automatically added to that list so if you unequip the item it gets removed from the list but the next one on the list will take it's place and you will have to unequip it too. Also the items stay on the list even after being removed from the inventory so will be equipped if is placed on the inventory again.

Other issue common issue is with the items of the Default Outfit that are hidden on the Followers inventory. You probably noticed that the first time you see your Followers they are dressed but when you check the inventory that dress or armor isn't there. In fact is right there on the inventory but you can't see it because is hidden from the interface but still you can ask for it on the console and the issue is that every time you set a leveled or enchanted version of the that armor on the inventory you have big chance of get the hidden armor equipped instead of the one enchanted. That makes you think that something is wrong with the enchanted item when in fact the only issue is that you have the hidden item equipped instead of the one with the enchantments.

The solution for that is set a Empty Outfit as the Default Outfit of the actor and that way nothing will be hidden on the actor inventory but this is just for the Followers and be careful because change the Default Outfit also remove any related items from the actor inventory even those items leveled or enchanted.

By the way all that can be done with the console or with this Mod:
