Steam workshop mirrors.

Just a heads up if you are mirroring links, please put the name of the mod author next to the mod, usually when I find a good mod by a user they usually have a good number of others

Also gives good promotion to the author as well.

The best mods from workshop IMO are :

Pit Fighters and it's travel add-on

Quest:Sorcery

And this collection .

But I'm already subscribed to them so unless anyone else asks for them no need to upload them .

I agree about thoses mods, Thirteen oranges work is totally worth it.

Could someone upload some of his amazing quest mods (unfortunately removed from the nexus)?

More specificaly :

- Sea of Ghosts

-No Mercy

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=13666

-Sorcery

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=95716389

By the way, thanks for the mirror for Pit Faction!

I would love to try another steam mod : Tailoring (Dragonborn edition) by Buckles.

Here's the link : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=130121445&searchtext=tailoring

Thanks in advance guys!

*snip*

I completely agree, Athstai.

Normally this wouldn't be any of my business, but I think this is crossing a line here, with sharing mods of other people without their consent.

After all, it is not the mod authors task to come here and ask for removal. it is your task to ask him if it is okay to upload their mods on this site. How can we expect other to respect our decisions regarding sharing and we ourselves don't care one bit. We don't exist in a vacuum, where we can cherrypick, which authors decisions we're going to accept and respect and whose we're going to neglect.

Maybe something to think over. I will follow this thread with great interest.

I don't get this argument , none of the authors specified that their work was not to be uploaded here and you can't expect every modder to go out of is way to find every community , forum , site that is related to modding  skyrim and upload it to all of them.

So unless a modder says in the description 'do not upload to other sites' why are we making such an unnecessary argument ?

You're not saying to every person you meet in real life "Please don't rob me" either, but you kind of expect them not to. It's just common courtesy. Not to mention that the authors probably never heard of LL and thus maybe don't want their mods with their names appear on an adult modding forum.

Your arguments are completely illogical, The modders gets absolutely nothing out of these mods besides a pat on the back and complaints by those whom are unsatisfied and the mods being placed on a mostly adult website they are more likely to attract positive feedback and therefore continue there work... If i was anyone of these mods I would be absolutely flattered that someone took the time to spread my mod around

But that was my point also, you can't expect everyone to try and find every modding community for skyrim to share their work there as well . But I guess out opinions differ , what could be done however is after the mod has been uploaded to send a PM to the author asking him whether he doesn't want his mod to remain uploaded here .  ( the reason I specify after is because you can't expect Ark to wait an answer that may even take days, weeks or even months)

I have placed the Steam Workshop links in the OP as well. Users should take note that if a new version is released it WILL NOT be mirrored until 7 days after the release. You will have to either wait or use the Steam Workshop link.

Thank you for assisting those whom truthfully appreciate this

Guys, enough talking about whether this "should" or "should not" be allowed, unless you are a mod author whose mod has been posted here and you wish it to be removed.  In that case simply PM Ark and he will remove the mod.

Thank you.

I'm not blind, Ark, so your flippancy isn't welcome.

You'd be surprised, but moderators are allowed to disagree on things too you know.

I still have to ask though, if you're all so adamant that you're not doing anything wrong, then why are you all so reticent about contacting the authors to ask if they want their stuff to be shared here? Why? I mean surely they'll be flattered, happy that their player base is being expanded, right?

That wasn't meant to be towards you. I was just quoting it across from the other page.

MY personal perspective on the issue is that contacting the author would be a rather tedious task especially if there located on multiple sites, If this case is true as i previously stated then getting a hold of said author would require some researching as to there primary site just to get a quick response.... and if said author has no primary location and does not check said sites daily it would take some time to get the word from them....

All words aside and to stop my rambling... I guess my issue is based on efficiency and my lack of patience when I'm stroking my dragonborn ego over the new content i want to experience

Bottom line is this:

Both CK and Greg are right. As Greg says, the site has no rules about where a mod can come from, nor will we, it is not feasible for us to moderate every detail of every download that comes through here, we will however certainly respect any author's wishes without question should they make them known to us. With that however, CK is also right, it's hugely disrespectful and poor ethics to take somebodies mod without permission. Regardless of your personal feelings on mod distribution/mirroring as a mod maker, it's not right to assume everybody should share that view, because they don't.

I've been on many sides of this for as long as I can remember. As a modder, in manga scanlation, as a creator, as a content host, as somebody not wanting mirrors, and as somebody who didn't give a fuck who reused my content. During precisely none of those situations however, would I have ever presumed my opinion on the matter was shared by everybody. For that reason I find this thread to be unquestionably in poor taste.

Even if a mod doesn't expressly state one way or another, about permission before repackaging or mirroring a mod elsewhere, it's your ethical duty to seek out the permission and respect that modders decision one way or another. Certainly there are cases where you are unable to contact them or you get no response, and a decision has to be made by oneself, but effort should be made regardless. In the case of steam, contacting them in some manner is easy, or should at least reveal if they are even active anymore. Above all else though is credit, unless an author says otherwise, not crediting them is the biggest slap in the face you could give a content creator.

OK, the current requests are ready they just need to be uploaded. They will be uploaded when the weather calms down here and my internet becomes stable again.

Thank you for this. On one hand I can understand the discomfort, but on the other I despise the Steam Workshop not only for being steam, but also beacuse its unwieldy and difficult to use.

This thread not only means that there is a back-up of the good mods, but also serves as a form of 'quality' assurance. The better mods are getting backed up, and i've never seen many of them before.

Steam has many unique files that nexus does not have, like some new locations(oakwood) etc.

I appreciate the mirrors and i definitely agree others would appreciate, but i have these files subscribed already. Still, thanks.
