ChancellorKremlin Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 OK, so I'm in the process of doing somewhat of a revamp/re-write of many of Sexout's installation instructions, FAQ's, and so forth, and a conversation I recently had with Bruce Wayne got me thinking. We discussed how sort of "sterile" a lot of the information regarding Sexout actually is, in the sense of it lacking any visual "pizzazz" of any kind, like a logo, or screenshots (dedicated to the relevant threads) or even a short trailer of the type DoctaSax made for his "FleshedOut" plugin, which I thought was a really nice addition. So, with that in mind, I decided to start work on drafting a few new threads, guides, and other miscellaneous, which include a few screenies and maybe a trailer too. The only thing I don't possess the skills to do, and would like to recruit your help to do so, is for an actual logo for Sexout. I originally had in mind Commander Tak's style and font, which closely resembles the Fallout New Vegas design, for Interior Lighting Overhaul, which I think looks pretty neat and would make a good visual impression: So basically I'd like to recruit the help of someone with the skills (and the interest and willingness, obviously) to make something similar or along those lines for Sexout. I know we have a great deal of talented people here on LL with a variety of skills, so if yours happens to be visual design or graphical overlays of the type above and this is something you'd be interested in lending a hand in, please leave a comment here or drop me a PM. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. CK

Sexout NG would be perfect, though if you nail a common theme that you can reapply in the future, we could eventually use the same font/style for things like FAQ, Installation Instructions, or any other thread title. ChancellorKremlin Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Spectrum Warrior, I like your "sketch" - it is bey good, and I say "sketch" because if that's just a sketch I can't wait for the finished product. As I've said elsewhere, don't worry too much about the neon and the parallelogram in the background, I'm more attracted to the metal finish and the sort of industrial style to the letters and the text than anything else. Hmm, I wonder what would be the best images to get Sexout across...? I'm thinking a render of an on-stage sex show at the Brimstone Club for the "Please Stand By" screen.

If those are meshes, you might want to check your normals again around the s, x and the o, they seem to be facing in the wrong direction and causing those dark blobs. Or I could be mistaken and it's just the way the light works in those pictures. Anyway, keep up the nice work.

Used letters and extruded them in a way that they are like shells (empty inside , didn't wanted too much triangles so i did not made them as full objects) and smooth-ed them as editable poly-s , that way they are more rounded , but less uniform . There is little influence from texture (although i did not normalized it too deep) and from light . I sort of like it that way , they look like something that would people from NV world be able to make . What i would change is make white surface little dirtier with texture , maybe little cracks in red frame so it is less perfect looking and more real for NV world . This is 1st world object i made successfully , and i am not sure would be i able to repeat . Most problems made girls - they are from Gommorah and when i removed them from building and downzized them they somehow remembered texture from building and when i tried to apply rusty metal pictures as texture they made texture repeat and multiply like brick wall . This is reason they are now separate object , but i (after so much trying with pictures) this time used simple colors as texture . Still need to learn much about world objects . You can see one that i tried on http://www.loverslab.com/topic/17716-need-help-with-textures-nifskope-game/page-2 . It is still not finished . Still need to learn how to make Collision Meshes . BruceWayne Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Lol, I might be new to this, but I know that meshes are hollow shells and not solid. As for the textures, you most likely need to unwrap the girls again. I'm not sure how this works in 3dmax, but in Blender you just select them in edit-mode and hit unwrap. You can place seams pretty easy with Alt-right clicking on edge loops, where the seams would go and press CTRL+E->mark seam for better results. If you're happy with the seams just select all and unwrap again.

In my case here they are even more hollow (missing one page) for example letter o looks like kuglof mold . With girls i made mistake and merged them with rest before unwrapping UVW and that applied their material to rest (should be oposite) .
BruceWayne Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Ah okay, now I know what you mean, you removed the backside of the mesh. The one that isn't visible. I think you can unwrap the UVs pretty much every step of the way, no matter when you added them. It might even be more desirable to do it for the complete construct, as to not have several textures for the same object.

In 3D Studio when you convert letters in mesh or poly they become one polygon (but not triangle , they have more vertex-es) . If i wanted to make (simulated) full 3d object out of them i should split that polygon to more triangles , but it is OK way i made it . About girls , when you merging two objects that have applied material 3D Studio ask you something like "do you want to apply ID to material or material to ID ?" and i do not know what is for what . In this case only girls had material (and in meshes there ware informations about material for whole building) so 3D studio automatic aplied theyr material for whole object . Because they ware much bigger before (you know how big Gommorah is) and i made texture from pictures 1024 or 2048 pixels , my computer froze , and when i find out to make it without freezing i got texture with many template pictures like brick wall on Gommorah . I still learning , it is only 1 month since i started . I know that on Nexus people can find better clothes than my , but all i do is free resource , people do not need even to mention me , and i will through playing learn working in 3D Studio .
