ive got all the bethesda games, and tried the big sex mods for each, and probably the best in my opinion animation-wise would be lovers with pk.

now i understand that getting that level of animations and expression just isn't possible in the fallout games, but what i never found out is why. what did they do to the engine between those games that made it so that animation plugins had to downgrade from what lovers is to the "deer caught in headlights" static pose-ish sexout style?

 

keep in mind I'm not bashing sexout, i love it, i just want to know why with the game being newer the plugins actually had to take a step backwards in complexity.

Oblivion was a special case, adding new animations is exceptionally easy compared to others. As a general rule, a more complicated vanilla makes modding more complicated. Take Skyrim for example: Many more vanilla features than Oblivion, but can only take a fraction of the mods before saves start corrupting every dozen or so hours. We even have to run an executable every time we install a new animation mod.

You can't really compare the mods available for Oblivion (released in 2006) with the mods for Fallout 3 (released in 2008) or Fallout New Vegas (released in 2010). Oblivion has 4 full years of modding over Fallout New Vegas. With the engine changes, by the time we caught up with Fallout 3 modding, they released Fallout New Vegas... so everyone moved to it. Luckily, with very little changes, you can use mods fairly interchangeably between the two. Unfortunately, Oblivion was still popular enough to retain its hold on the modders who made Lovers with PK so Fallout adult modding required a new group to step forward. Basically Oblivion has a 4 year head start AND a more advanced modding base. One advantage we have with Sexout though is the ability to design it to be more mod friendly, which it most certainly is compared to Lovers with PK. It's more modular and open and much easier for people to create mods for. One of the main areas we've suffered in as Fallout adult modders has been, in comparison to Oblivion, a severe lack of animators. Another area we've suffered in is that FOSE/NVSE only possess a subset of the features available to OBSE. We simply can't do what Lovers with PK can do from lack of functionality being available. TBH, we've accomplished quite a bit with Sexout given the handicaps currently faced.

Listen to the man - he is wise.

Modders work with assets and techniques developed by others. If there aren't enough compatible assets and experienced modders around to begin with, everything goes a might slower in the beginning. TES games are also more likely to have more input in terms of adult modding because it's easier to infuse them with hentai content. I'm quite happy sexout modding doesn't have a lot of that - it doesn't quite fit the fallout universe - but that also means several adult modders of the likes that got PK off the ground never strayed to our neck of the woods. And the way NVSE limps a few miles behind OBSE is just sad. Very little forward momentum at all there too.

 

Which is why we keep telling people to start modding the stuff they request themselves. Sound harsh, but how else is it all gonna get done?

I always wondered if NVSE being behind OBSE was technical being that the game engine was more friendly to the script extensions or if NVSE was just behind because of the development was just not as active. Does anybody know the answer to that question. Is it just a matter of time before NVSE reaches the current level of OBSE?

Far as I can tell, it's due to interest. NVSE's just not being actively developed; the last upgrade to v3b2 is in fact largely due to prideslayer twisting a few arms iirc.

Everything except permanent clone form is doable.

Just very time consuming and there never was any real push from users to the NVSE team.

I thought that he did most of the upgrades for NVSE from the old version to the new version and they accepted most if not all of the work. Or am I confused with the Extender11?
