I'm getting out of my mind with modding skyrim (the usual, really) and after nearly a decade playing this game, I somehow manage to find new issues. So, this time my problem is the typical taking-forever-to-make-a-save - But the issue here, is that the save is completely and entirely New. And the best part? The same modlist but with an increased ammount of mods, worked well enough until recently. That being said taking 5-10 seconds at the very beggining to save is too much of a bad sign. So what did I do? ->Mods are Cleaned ->XP skeleton has the non specific animations disabled. ->I checked the save bloat, but the SKSE is less than 30KB, doubt its linked to that. I do have a lot of mods, so I wouldn't be surprised if I had some incompatibilities I had never heard about but at this point, I don't know. I'm not quite knowledgeable with what sort of maintenance would help with skyrim though, i'd assume a computer wipe?

I was starting to experiencing the same issue recently. I have literally looked everywhere for a solution could not find a solutions. The only thing that sort of helped was restarting my pc before playing and also restarting new characters save and see how long it takes. I repeated this till it saves immediately. It is not a save bloat issue since there are no save when you start the game. So yeah we are in the same boat.

You can try emptying your temp files folders, uninstalling whatever programs you are not using to have all the free disk space that you can, checking what programs could be running in the background without you noticing consuming RAM. If you are someone that works with different fonts and you have a lot installed, try disabling some on them. And yes, restart your pc when you done with the cleaning.

Restarting didn't do much for me sadly BUT if it helps, disabling Guard dialogues Overhaul saved me 3-4 secs out of the 8 sec saving time. I saved the game then used the "resaver tool" on that save. Eventho there are no errors in the save I still cleaned it. Then I resaved over the old file. When I loaded the new save every save after was quick from there onward.

I really don't get the issue...Still I suppose its not that bad, i can just restart my computer before playing...It is just rather frustrating

Hello, thank you for your answer; - Quick Saves, Auto Saves and Manual saves all have the issue, and take the same time. - I did use it yes, sadly there was no difference whatsoever. - I confirm the issue is only in skyrim. - C Drive currently has 16GB of free space, E drive (where skyrim is installed) has 25.

Regardless, tried to remove Havok, no changes in term of saves. I also started a new game in the SSE version and tried to disable every mods save for alternate start and its requirement (USSEP) - Still having the same problem. While I could do a clean reinstall I would really rather not lose my current playthrough.

Logic suggests, to me, that the problem lies either in the mods or in the way you have one of the stability tools configured. In other words, it is either before or after vanilla Skyrim. You should keep in mind that some things get backed into saves, this is why starting a new game is usually recommended when trouble-shooting.

This is dangerously close to nothing, especially if you have 1TB drives. Remember Windows needs also space for virtual memory. I highly recommend to make space to be sure that doesn't relates to your issue. It gets even worse if you never performed a defragmentation on your drives. Make space, test again and if the issue persists it makes sense to check the mods.

If not, one got stuck and might slow down everything For LE: I would rather see you LO, but it appears you have enough mods installed that you will need Crash Fixes v12 to remove the vanilla 65k savegame string limit Make sure all mods are properly loaded and you did 2 save/load cycles before doing anything in Skyrim. DD needs 1 save/load to update itself and Estrus+ needs to register it's animations. That can take up to 2 min depending on how you start your game.
