I realize this is a 2 year old post.. but it's a  great example as to why you ALWAYS make a save before you install any new mod and hold onto that save till you're confident things are working or have progressed too far in your game to look back.  I'd even recommend making that save a milestone point where you don't do anything else in the game except the mod you want to try out, then when you're satisfied with the mod, delete all the saves associated with it (quicks, Autos included), uninstall the mod and continue from that milestone save.

If you want to boot up a save to play ONLY THIS MOD, then I'd say you can probably have a good time with it, excepting some pretty terrible issues.

First and foremost, it makes vampire attack spawns constant. I'm talking "I need to save every time I go into a city/out of a house" levels of bad. In the day, in the night, it doesn't matter. Something is fucked up on the backend.

Apparently it also breaks random encounters and makes them all just 3 bandit chiefs even if you uninstall the mod. I can't speak to this one however, as I did not experience this. 


I really enjoyed what I was able to play before everything completely broke down, so I really hope this keeps getting updates. It truly has the potential to be one of the best mods on Loverslab, but my god does it need some major bugfixing.


Thanks for the heads up. I played this mod in Oldrim years ago and am curious how it's been improved or what else has been added to it. I think I'll come back after i've done everything there is to do in game and check this out again on a separate save.

I keep getting stuck on the Serving a Little Girl quest where i am supposed to be giving a skooma spiked mead delivery to the brew master of the black-brier meadery but he keeps saying i dont have the bottles and for my boss to punished me does anyone know how to complete the quest or a cheat to skip it; i dont want to skip too far ahead just the delivery also i started the mod through simple slavery so some of the questline is off. i was enjoying the mod with the only glitch being the curser on the map keeps leading me to wrong locations like the dumphouse, the fishery, and the farmhouse when it gets unlocked, but once i got my barings of the place the curser would fix itself if you kept going in the right direction.

Any guide i 've finished the "ambush" then i said we need to come with a plan and dont go willy nilly into random dude house and nothing frabby seem to wait near the stable with a random dude a i cant go any further it seem no quest started at all

I think this mod has compatibility issue with something i'm trying to find what aTID1Falmer Never start.

Some times i get some problem starting or even finishing aTIDBegin so if the mod autor can give at least all the stage of all the quest for now i have aTIDBegin set to 200 and idk if its normal and i tried to manually start aTID1Falmer by setting its stage 10 by 10 but doesnt seem to start and i cant find anything in my papyrus log that seem to be related to Thingd in the dark

And it seem this mod is not very active but it seem to be the case for all mods i use i'm starting to think SL skyrim is not as popular as his fallout4 AAF thing

I found this on Nexus to deal with  the vampire issue, it seems to work on SE as well, the attacks were originally a feature of Dawnguard which got switched off as they were a pain in behind.

This Help a lot but the problem is much more twisted this correct some problems but it seem some essential npc for this mod get killed and also it seem the mod attach script to non scriptable object i never used the creation kit i was digging a bit on how this pile of garbage work to try to fix this mod if i can i'm not familiar with this developement kit ans all the joke i was classifiying as exagerated are underated this is garbage how tf any mods can be made with this tool?

I only did the prequest once. Install for this scene the original TID 2.11 LE and disable the SE Version, after that scene switch back to the SE Version.

SPOILER: After this scene  you awake in Ibn and you are enslaved. So I use "simple slavery plus plus" to get there instantly.

 

PS: I love this mod, one of the best out there. ;)

Hello,

This mod is just a conversion of Things in The dark mod for SE. I ran the mod through CAO and optimized the meshes and textures.

Fixed a few bugs too and tried to make it more stable. I have  tested it for about 8Hrs and no issues so far.

 

About the mod :

It is an extensive quest mod which branches to various main and side quest. It's mostly about Falmer slavery and you experience both 

sides as in being a slave and also the slaver (if you choose to) . Look up the original mods link for further description and credit the

original author for creating an amazing mod.

I found something really strange When you launch the tunneling quest i know why Daithe always make some weird thing the quest marker is set on fishing thing in Ibn Darleth go in then out and teleport to Markarth when she proceed to go to the animonculry by the end of the tunneling quest and gest stuck a the end of the dungeon and cant joint the Ibn side real marker quest.....
This is repeatable i've tested this on a least 3 save from now and this is always de same she teleport and bug AF then you teleport Daithe to the right place and the script catch the présence of Daithe and the quest can continue with the rubble and so on


I'm not sure how the scripting work in Skyrim but there is 2 doors that go to the same place and the marker is set on the door that contain the fishing slave game maybe there some sort of confusion here that completly broke the pathfinding of daithe she know were shee need to go but the first marker is bugged so she randomly decide to go for the second door that is on markarth side?

Azenith Derleth show up murdering every NPC and guard near Markarth, she is also hostile toward MC. She's not only extremely powerful at low level but also marked as essential. Broken?

Are there any of the prioir versions availalbe? For some reason the mod induces high level vampire spawns which are so frequent that they basically depopulate the cities.

It's crazy but install first Things in the dark SE (based on thd 2.11) and then install thd 2.3 (LE version).

 

It sounds crazy but it works very well in Skyrim AE! Far less bugs. Enjoy! I love this mod

I always keep the quest info open just in case I have to setstage, but for the most part like the mods and I have been tring to create a SPID file to distribute the equipment, to other falmer, I just have not been able to get the falmer to gain the weapons, I did add in bandets and it works very well with them, tnough I thing I have to chance to high on some of the weapons and ammo. 

 

The big issue I have is some of the outfits are absurd looking on the size they make the PC/NPC. your PC has lets say a slim build put on the belt and it looks like kim Caucasian, looks horrid to me, I have been looking in on making sliders for the armor, just have not had a lot of time to do it and I want to make sure I know what I am doing before I do it.

 

But I have finnish the mod and I like it, and pairs well with parasite - kynes blessing I think

Well, I played this mod back in LE and loved it (bugs and all), but unfortunately after making the switch to SSE, I got the constant vampire attacks and three bandit chiefs bugs, and that's a deal-breaker for me. I hope someday this mod gets another look, because it's a great mod otherwise with a lot of potential. There just aren't enough mods out there that make you feel truly evil, and this is one of them.

In the LE forum the author said you are supposed to get your items back after you become a servant.

 

I am a servant but never got my stuff back. Does anyone know anything about when/how you get your previous gear back?

 

Also, here is a patch I made for cc survival mode to give hunger values to the food from this mod so you don't starve while in Ibn.

Tried again and followed your advice @nPommes but I cant even get to interrogate about the Derleth family but no dialogue shows. 

 

 

Does anyone know where i can find the setstage codes?

This mod has so much potential.  Would be great if some one would give it some love and make it playable without us having to use console commands on 50% of the quests.

Think I might have solved the 3 bandit world encounter issue. I opened the mod in xEdit and removed the edit to the story branch manager node from Dawnguard. Since then I haven't seen the bandits and had a random encounter with cc zombies which hadn't happened before.

 

Seems like this will probably break the npc prostitution in Ibn but to me thats worth not having every world encounter be 3 bandits.

I know this is an old thread but im hoping i can get an answer i playing the mod so far and apart from a few bugs not been to bad im now a servant and the quest to fint a missing chaurus but i cant find it and have no idea were to even look  the marker tells me to go to the fishery but when i enter the chaurus isnt there and the marker says to go back outside when i do it shows to go back inside so i cant propgress the quest if anyone is still reading this thread and can help that would be great

Old thread I know.  I am playing through TID determined to finish it.  Lot of great qualities to this mod even today, but definitely some challenges.  Thought I would share my experiences so far. 

 

Liberal use of the quest ID list on the mod page to showquestobjectives getstage and setstage as well as prid ref ID / moveto player, player.moveto Ref ID and tcl.  

 

Slave missions went pretty well with exception of Daithe often not responding with expected dialogue or going where she is supposed to go.  

 

Part 1 has worked pretty decent with exception of most markers not working.  That impacts any mission that doesn't specifically tell you where you are going (killing the spy, killing the Azura disciples, locating anyone you haven't seen / or don't recall where they are). 

 

In 1TID2Raider3 the sister Farin is in Whiterun in the Halls of the Dead, not in Winterhold.  The dialogue mentioned Whiterun, but the quest objective said Winterhold.  

 

aTID3Begin had a lot of quest results not working / needing setstage.  Also a section towards the end where I had to stage through due to not knowing where to go and having no clues or marker to get there.  

 

Just lots of borked stuff in the end quests.  aTID4SideQuestNoble - you are told to follow Anezka to your home and she runs to the derelict pumphouse.  Supposed to be the Pym apartment in the Noble House.  Can go there after talking to her, that's your player home. 

 

I'm compiling a list of Ref ID's for some NPC's I had to track down or just wanted to remember to command line travel to:

I basically did finish it.   Was a good role playing experience and the mod's scope is pretty cool.   In some ways it reminds me of Submissive Lola or Fallout 4's Commonwealth Slavers mod.  Both were effective in really immersively taking decision making away from the player temporarily.  Things in the Dark shines when it's forcing the player to adapt and buy in to the Falmer culture and rise through the ranks to serve their god.  Drawbacks aside from the bugs were the running back / forth constantly.   I would have liked to have had more to do with Frabbi once you get into Ibn.  I hope someone takes a crack at a redo with it who appreciates the scope of it.

This was probably one I setstaged through.   It's the marker bug that plagues the mod unfortunately.  Several side missions and core missions have this and setstaging through is needed if you don't know where to go.  The chaurus one is particularly tough to bull through it without a marker as there are literally chaurus everywhere.

I did this and I just got three bandit chiefs. Is there anything else you did or removed?
