Game is not launching, command line appears for a second then disapears

Recommended Posts

Just did a fresh install of skyrim and skse, installed a bunch of mods through MO2 and used loot to sort my load order, yet when I try to launch the game all that happens is a quick pop up of a command line then then nothing. I'm not missing any dependencies (or at least mo2 and loot don't say so)

Your load order isn't quite right.

Warning: if you have it please load XP32/XPMSE before MNC. Do not let there skeletons overwrite MNC or your game may crash or have floating dick problems, MNCv12 is using nodes not found in these skeleton mods.

Ps: As i tend to get things wrong even if i read stuff again before i post it, it may or may not help with your crashing. (after the second or third time getting schooled by someone who knows better then me, i just want to add this xD

Despite that fact, that your load order is all over the place (just another example that LOOT is total crap for LL mods imo), I'm gonna take a wild guess and say, the "not launching" is probably something else.

  1. First, fix your load order as Gukahn suggested. You should probably re-read all install instructions of the LL mods you installed, especially the MNC Install guide already linked above. I know, thats a lot of work, but it can really save you a lot of trouble later on.
  2. A console appearing and nothing happening is probably SKSE running into a problem and exiting. Please post the Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SKSE/skse.log
  3. You can also look into other logs in that directory, if any and search for errors or warnings.

Also, please use the spoiler tag when posting logs or load orders, like this:

There are some people on this forum (like everywhere else) who tend to get very aggressive whenever someone tries to help but makes a geniuine mistake. Don't let that get to you. In my book, everyone who wants to help is greatly appreciated, even if they're wrong. Life is, in a nutshell, all about learning and sharing experiences. :)

I tried moving xpmse right above morenastycreatures, it doesn't seem to have done anything, I'll try disable all my creature related mods for a  sec and see if it will launch

Did the game start before you loaded all those mods?

Disable your mods and try the base game.

Could be too many animations.

Try this

yes, I loaded the base game beforehand, I'll try remove some of the animation packs and run-fnis again

When have you ever seen LOOT put XPMSE at the end of a load order? Or UIExtensions for that matter. People are always accusing LOOT for having problems with LL mods yet I have yet to hear an explanation as to how LL mods differ from any other mods.

I don't really know why it did that, either way, I tried removing some animations and installing this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/100672?tab=description

The Load Order Optimisation Tool  To optimize the Load order .  Other than that anyway, you don't install 112 mods and then worry about the problems. So everything becomes more difficult

After installing the various animation mods, did you use FNIS with patch GENDER and SKELETON actives?

Disable mods (do not uninstall them), enable Skyrim, Updates and only DLCs  , launch the game , when you have control of the character, open the console with the key Tilde, insert this string: coc qasmoke . you will be catapulted into an exclusive test room . If everything is normal, exit the game and activate Skyrim, Update, DLC and Master files (ESM) one at a time. The first will be SexLab and Creature Framework , test the game .

Most likely, you have made some mistakes in the installations and, it is not enough to move a plugin to fix

The fact that SKSE has loaded plugins does not mean that they have been installed in the correct order

Conglomerate

Yeah, totally right. Check the link.

You should probably take Lestat1627's suggestion at this point and start over step-by-step.

In MO2, you want to look at the left panel, your installation order as well. MO2 tells you when there are conflicts, i.e. mods overwriting files from others. Check that there are no mistakes.

Good luck ?

Do you have the game installed in Steam Default location?

If so try to move it out of it, and make sure that your MO2 is Portable installation.

I have it in steamapps\skyrim if that's what you mean. It's not in program files though, it's on my D drive D:\ steam\steamapp\common\skyrim

2 Longshots and the last things i could come up with.

Are you really Sure you found the only SSE mod you have installed?

And the suggestion: open steams diagnostic option and search for missing files, let it do its thing. After that launch vanilla launcher for a sec til startmenu, close it and then start it with Skse like you would normally do.

That is only a fix i know when the game doesn't launch at all tho (and i am on SSE so there isn't much i can think of.), i can't promise that it would even make sense to do it in your situation but there is no real harm in it. Worst case after that you just have to edit your Ini. File again (I think?)

and yes, my MO2 installation is portable

Go into Documents/my games/Skyrim , open Skyrim.ini and active Papyrus

[Papyrus]
bEnableLogging=1
bEnableTrace=1
bLoadDebugInformation=1
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=500.0

Launch the game and when you have CTD , go into Documents/my games/Skyrim /Logs/Script . You found the TXT Papyrus 0 ,1 2, 3

Insert here Papyrus Log 0 and 1

1. He's using MO so that is not where the ini files are.

2. Papyrus logs are buffered so they are virtually useless for CTD trouble shooting.

1. Right

2. It is only useless to people who cannot read it or who cannot think in context. So actually - it's very useful and that's why it's officially recommended here on LL.

If you say so. I said it was virtually useless not totally useless.

Yet another post from you where you offer nothing useful for the OP but instead use it to have snipe at me.

Dude, seriously, take the best advice in this thread so far, from Lestat1627 and start over step by step.

I know, it will be a lot of work, but trust me, it's absolutely worth it and will get rid of more hidden problems (that have not surfaced yet but may cause issues later on).

Here is a small heads-up on how I did it about a year ago when I switched from Windump to Linux.

You should (at least!) check after every point (but probably more often) if your game still runs and performs well. If not, you've found a culprit/problem.

  1. Disable all mods and make sure vanilla Skyrim launches and performs well.
  2. STEP guide and/or Conglomerate. You want to install all recommended SKSE plugins at this point, enb and make sure your .inis are correctly set-up.
  3. Start with graphics mods. HD Textures, Better meshes (i.e. SMIM) and Climate mods.
  4. UI-related mods. SkyUI, ImmersiveHUD, etc...
  5. Landscape changes (if any) and new worlds.
  6. Race menu, Bodies, BodySlide.
  7. Gameplay overhauls or gameplay-related mods.
  8. Creatures
  9. NPCs
  10. Physics and Animations (FNIS, HDT)
  11. Weapons and Armors (don't forget to run BodySlide)
  12. Sounds
  13. SexLab Framework
  14. Any other SL Framework mod (Creature Framework, Schlongs, Devious Devices main mods, etc)
  15. SL Animations (don't forget to run FNIS and test them)
  16. SL Mods
  17. Devious Devices Mods (FNIS and BodySLide again)
  18. Priority Mods, Merged Patches, Overwrites, final fixes.

   99. Generated stuff from running FNIS, BodySlide and Lodgen (you should run them sooner obviously, but place them at the very bottom)

This list is also (roughly) how my MO2 left panel is sorted.

If anyone feels like there is something amiss or wrong, please by all means, feel free to correct me. This is all from my personal experience and research and I'm absolutely not perfect :P

Also, make sure you've set-up MO correctly. Here is and (old but very excellent) guide for this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4ZQpzf_iAE&list=PLE7DlYarj-DcLS9LyjEqOJwFUQIIQewcK

Its for old MO1 but still very good. The most important parts for you to watch are 7, 8 and 10. But don't skip the others :P

Here is what you should do to test if the game works:

  1. Use "coc qasmoke" from the main menu to bypass the intro and get to the testing cell. Fool around for a time.
  2. Afterwards, port to various other locations as well to test everything works, the most problematic cells have always been the following (according to my experience, LL and steam crash reports):
    1. coc Riverwood
    2. coc WhiterunExterior01
    3. coc Whiterun
    4. coc MarkarthExterior01
    5. coc MarkarthOrigin
    6. coc SolitudeExterior01
    7. coc Solitude
    8. You may also want to enter and exit some interiors at these locations.
  3. If you really want to go mad, use the console to speed-up your character and stress-test the game:
    1. player.forceav stamina 9999
    2. player.forceav speedmult 1200
    3. tcl
    4. tgm
  4. Test the mods you installed

Again, good luck.
