Veta Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I do not plan on even buying teso because TES has always been a single player franchise and I don't feel strong about cash ins , but for anyone interested here is a video of the first 20 minutes http://youtu.be/lg4Oawl7TVQ templar class for TES what more is there to say
canderes Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 If this is one of those choose a class play as that class only then it really isn't anything like Elder Scrolls is it? That would pretty much ruin it for me from the beginning. I wouldn't want to be restricted to being a mage, archer, or melee fighter only; they have Guild Wars and WoW for that stuff. I've never been much of an mmo player. I think it would be cooler to have an ES game with coop rather than an mmo with the ES stamp on it. A fallout mmo would of made more sense, rather than have it being that every player is dragonborn, the chosen one or whatever. With fallout it would be easy no retcon and all you would have to say is that each player is from a different vault or something.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Managed to watch 12 minutes before I gave up. Hate the use of an XP system, and while it's nice to see Hammerfell, everything looks and feels like Skyrim than anything else. Even that fucking minimalist HUD is back. I hope this crashes and burns.
GreyElf Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Some possibly helpful info here too, from the Tamriel Foundry folks (part 1 and 2): Some of the info seems a little dated of course, one thing I noticed is what they say about 1st person view being limited in part 2 is no longer the case: the devs decided to develop it fully due to high demand from players, and it'll have all the animations and so forth from that perspective that people are accustomed to. Seems like a decent starting point for those with an interest though.
Veta Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Those are by the developers , Alien : CM looked cool at the trailers too .
GreyElf Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Those are by the developers , Alien : CM looked cool at the trailers too . I believe they are by a fansite, that's what Tamriel Foundry is to my knowledge.
Morra Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 The only good news about this game is that we will have the possibility to strip it of armors and weapons models and import them to skyrim.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Once again, I'll just wait until this goes free to play in about, oh, half a year after launch.
HanPL Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Few new screens Maybe it's just me but I don't feel the TES "vibe " at all. This game looks more like Age of Conan than TES Online.
thedoctor38 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Damn late again as it seems the leaked beta gameplay vid was taken down.
Ark of Truth Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 That game is going to die within weeks of it's launch.
Emily Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Oh.. if it is the first era then the dwemer and ayleid are still around.
Queen Bee Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I'm not saying people aren't entitled to their own opinions, but I seriously can't understand the doomsayers in this thread. I for one hope this succeeds. I hope it's the best MMO ever and crushes WoW into the ground. I hope it changes the landscape of gaming. Yes, it might crash and burn. And if it did, would that make you happy? Would you feel justified in having railed against it on forum threads? Would you feel superior to all those who took a chance and hoped for the best, instead of joining you in bitter resentment and negativity? Jeez. Sometimes I think I hope this game succeeds just to piss you people off.

Sometimes I think I hope this game succeeds just to piss you people off. Look what happened to the Warcraft RTS franchise when World of Warcraft got successful. If this MMO takes off it could kill single player TES. I hope it crashes and burns for that reason alone. Zenimax may greenlight more single player TES games if TESO is successful, but I'd rather see this thing die than risk that. Sorry if that's cold.
Astaroth-Lite Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Back in '97 people had the common decency to shit-talk about Battlespire after playing it for themselves. Look what happened to the Warcraft RTS franchise when World of Warcraft got successful. If this MMO takes off it could kill single player TES. >using Blizzard as an example They develop a new game what, once every seven or eight years and they have how many franchises now? Not to mention the fact that they're making stuff other than WoW currently. That's really not an apt comparison, especially since Bethesda isn't actually in the development seat for TESO.

Sometimes I think I hope this game succeeds just to piss you people off. The reason we hope it crashes is because TES has been around for over a decade and the idea of an MMO was out of question yet at the sight of the success of skyrim they are trying to milk the franchise dry, if you like to give your money to zenimax feel free to do so . But know that the only reason the video it was taken down is because of the many comment dissing how bad and un-original the game looked like .
Mana Yakushima Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 That first video doesn't particularly show TESO in a good light, but whoever that was made a terrible video! That's definitely the wrong thing to be basing your opinions on. As long as the combat isn't like wow and the lore is there I think it'll do fine, especially if it has all of the continents.

Ark of Truth Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 You guys do know TESO is slowly going PvP based with little PvE gameplay. Not only that but in TESO unlike single player TES you cannot learn or master every skill. Also it has already been confirmed that Elder Scrolls Online will be PAY TO PLAY when it first launches and then after some time go Free to Play, however that could be from a few months to a few years, depending on how popular the game becomes. If people keep paying the subscription then thoughts of a Free to Play model might just get abandoned completely.

I don't mind pay to play but If it does go to PVP rather than PVE then there is no chance I'll ever get it.
Veta Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 I don't see why pay to play when there are great options for pay once like guild wars 2 Video Review by AJ

To my knowledge, they have not announced anything about payment model yet (at least not regarding sub vs no sub). All we know is it won't be totally free. If you have more news about this, feel free to share, that's pretty big news.
Jexsam Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Holy Negativity, Batman! Some of you guys are just spiteful. People like you is why we can't have nice things. You guys do know TESO is slowly going PvP based with little PvE gameplay. Not only that but in TESO unlike single player TES you cannot learn or master every skill. If people keep paying the subscription then thoughts of a Free to Play model might just get abandoned completely. Are you sure? Because everything I've heard until now states that starting class is basically like classes were an all the pre-Skyrim TES games, a guideline first and foremost rather than a hard decision; and furhtermore that you can master every skill in the game even if it's not your main skill. P2P I expected, but I doubt that'll last more than two years. Pay games are failing hard (with the exceptions being uber-niche EVE and the God-King of Statistical Outliers, WoW), F2P is the way to go. I only pray they'll look at Star Trek Online's F2P model when they make that choice...

Not to mention the fact that they're making stuff other than WoW currently. That's really not an apt comparison, especially since Bethesda isn't actually in the development seat for TESO. World of Warcraft was always planned to "finish that universe." Blizzard planned for players to kill Sargeras at the end of the MMO cycle, not much hope for a Warcraft 4 if all evil has been vanquished. And whether or not Bethesda is making the franchise or not is not the issue, its whether or not the publisher (Zenimax) will want to continue with single player TES if the MMO is making more money than Skyrim. It may be fine, Zenimax may have some decency and allow the single player to continue, but I am also against the whole "Call of Duty" generation and the tacking on of multiplayer to EVERYTHING. There is a huge population of the gaming community that finds gaming with others repulsive, myself included. People on the whole are loud obnoxious and spiteful when anonymity is involved. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part I find multiplayer ruins the gaming experience. I guess I am simply fearful of this thing taking over and TES VI getting either cancelled, or having its budget cut to the point where it is an inferior product. It bothers me when devs decide to do this kind of thing because I don't know what their endgame is. Are they looking to go after a completely different audience now, and leave their old consumers by the wayside? The secrecy of this industry breeds paranoia in its consumers, I guess that why I am lashing out
