Display Errors in game - SOLVED (SORT OF)

I have a very heavily modded Sims 4 game, although most of it is clothes and build items, or WW related stuff.

However, something (probably a mod???) is interfering with some displays.  I get some moodlets (lower left corner) that just show, for example, "uncomfortable +2" or something like that, and some messages in the upper right that have an icon but no message displayed.

I was trying to find my utility bill on the mailbox pie menu today, and it wasn't labeled.  I clicked on the unlabeled pie menu options and finally got this (the picture below).  It looks like it should be the utility bill, but you can see what I actually got.

Does anyone have any idea specifically what mod may be causing this, or what other non-mod issue is going on?  As I said, I've got a lot of mods and I'm trying to review them for a likely culprit, but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.  I'm not getting any Last Exceptions, and MCC isn't showing anything.

Thanks

Without errors and lots of cc you might have to use the 50/50 mod removal method to find your 'needle'.

I'd also try an Origin Game Repair first in case it's a game problem.

You might also have some cc traits that need updating.

Don't make any new saves when removing mod/cc for testing and delete your localthumbcache frequently.

Any UI mods (like UICheats and whatever else) would be my first guess here, the second guess being any outdated script mod.

On a side note: If you haven't done so already, mod testing is a great opportunity to properly structure your Mods folder with subfolders for major script mods like MCCC and content categories like clothing while you're at it. That'll make future troubleshooting much easier and quicker, since you can then test mods folder by folder. Just remember to not create subfolders within your subfolders, as the game won't read files in there.

My UICheats is and has been up to date, just checked the Patreon page to make sure, so it's not that.  Same with MCCC.

Didn't know there was a repair game function, but unfortunately that didn't help either.

Really not looking forward to the 50/50 method and trying to sort all my stuff as I've got so much of it.  Some of it probably does need to be weeded out though, such as build items that just don't work or I didn't like.

Too bad there's not something like MO2 for the Sims to let you see at a glance where you have conflicts.

Check your WickedInfoLog.log first to make sure you don't have any duplicates if you haven't done so yet.

This is the thing I preach about the most, especially for those that have 10,000 mods/cc ;)

Cleaning up your mods folder is another one of those nasty jobs we tend to put off for too long sometimes.

Organizing your mods/cc by categories or the script mods name saves far more time later on with updates and helps avoid getting more duplicates.

Simple as moving all your makeup into a new folder in mods named makeup.

Mods/Makeup

Mods/Build Buy

Mods/WickedWhims

Mods/Wicked Animations

etc.

Sometimes just doing this alone you can find odd files or dupes.

Now when you want to test for broken mods or cc all you have to do is move one folder to your desktop at a time and retest in game.

Find out what isn't causing the problem and what is.

Narrow it down to one folder and now you can do the 50/50 within that folder.

Split the files into part one and part two folders.

BTW it's not likely clothing, makeup, shoes, skins, body parts, etc.

Typically things that make sims look better don't cause that sort of problem.

However things that add new game play or features are more suspect.

So I finally got it narrowed down and found the culprit

STN_Rev_0_6g.package

I have absolutely no idea what that package file is for, the date on the package is from 2019 (but I don't know when I would have downloaded it).  I wish I had more expertise at Sims modding, if this was Skyrim or another TES game I'd open it in XEdit or Creation Kit and have a look.  I did a Google search for it and only get some images that point towards "Teleport Any Sim" and while I remember looking at that a couple of years ago I don't think I ever downloaded it.  Not to mention that the most recent update of that mod has a completely different naming convention, and has a script file, which this package doesn't.

Anybody have any idea what this mod is?  I guess I'm going to live without it and see if I miss it.

Thanks people for the help.

No, but you've ever downloaded custom sims some have a nasty habit of including mods or bits and pieces of them.

Might be the other half of a script mod.

It's a very, VERY outdated version of this mod: SexyTime Network Custom TV Mod

I remember this particular issue coming up from a while back, as my mod had originally been unnecessarily accused as (one of) the culprits in the topic: Missing University-Related Text

AFAIK, the author of STN fixed this issue in later versions of his mod.

The issue you describing (missing text) is 99% of the cases are from mods that are going lazy, and just include the whole Strings_XXX_XX.package file in their mods, which leads to missing string links once new content is added to the game.

Thank you Peco328!

I actually use Cinerotique too along with the package to put all content onto one channel and love your mod!

Now that I know what it is maybe I can look into updating it and having both on separate channels
