CTD In Certain Spot in Starting Quest

Hello there! I am experiencing a crash in the beginning quest of the vanilla storyline while following Hadvar. I am running Special Edition, the latest version off of Steam.

 

It is the area where he says "C'mon, let's see where this goes," with the creekbed and the small cave. I can only advance so far. I run down the stream, the dragon roars overhead, the screen starts to shake, and then the game CTDs. There were no signs of instability or other oddness in the preceding gameplay. It happens in the same way every time - where I am standing and what I am doing when that sound effect and graphical effect start seem to make no difference.

SKSE64 Ver. 2.0.19, FNIS 7_6, Skyrim Engine Fixes, and Unofficial Special Edition Patch 4.24b. I believe those are the core plugins - let me know if I need to say others.

I remember that something like that was asked a while ago at Nexus or Reddit.

Vanilla start don't like scripted Mods. If you want to play it again you would have do disable at least most of your scripted mods. 

That's one of the reasons alternative start mods are so popular. Pretty sure there are Users out there who can play it with mods but i am not one of them. 

But i am surprised you got so far. My Vanilla start crashes the Moment Alduin lands.

My advice, just role the Camping in the Wilds start, its close to helgen and you can just start the Main Quest.

Papyrus log wont help here. Papyrus log notes down known errors and only those that its able to handle. An unhandled exception causes CTDs and those arent printed on the log

You mean the Dragon Roar at the very beginning when you go into the Storage Room with the 2 Stormcloak Soldiers? 

In that moment the game spawns those Stones that drop down, do you see them? Do you have mods that edit them? 

 

If you dont, go back into the game, open the console and type "tfc". Thats the command for free camera and as far as Im aware using that one doesnt cause trigger boxes to fire so you can freely move around in that location. If you still get a CTD then its something persisent thats loaded there. Like those Stormcloak Soldiers, if you dont get a CTD, its probably the Event that fires, bringing us back to the falling rocks and the ground thats breaking together

Are you talking about the spot where you're running into the larger cave where the bear is and Hadvar asks if you want to shoot it or sneak by?

 

With all of your creature mods, I wonder if you have a bad mesh there causing your crash when you get close.  I'd try disabling them one at a time, starting with SL Aroused Creatures and see what happens.

Yeah... as an example... as I recall from trying out the SL Beastess mod about a year ago,  there are (or at least *were) some issues with spiders and SL (or with the animations themselves, can't remember). If the OP checks the Creature Framework and/or Beastess support threads, I believe there's a patch offered in one of the posts to fix the spider problem (if my memory is serving me today, that is), in case that's the underlying fault.
