xBlaBlaBlax Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 A couple of months ago I gave up on modding skyrim after I was unable to fix some persistent CTD issues. I've always had some level of CTD occur, but at that point I was trying to, you know, actually play the game and I was just not able to overcome the issue. I'd like to give it another shot. I remember already installing all the crash fixes and patches and adjusting settings in config files and things... I don't think I can fix this on my own. I would appreciate anyone that can help me. I will attach below my mods and their order. Please let me know if you need any further information to help me.
Psalam Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 7 minutes ago, xBlaBlaBlax said: I'd like to give it another shot. Start by reading and following this guide for the fixes and tools: Then, reduce your load order to no more than 30 total mods (it's usually fairly easy to keep that number straight). See how the game goes and report back if you're still having issues. If not, add mods back in groups of no more than 10 until you have all the mods that you want. Preferably, start a new game every time you add a bunch of mods. Good luck and happy hunting!
Just Don't Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 So... what's up with the crash? when does it happen? when did it start? Anyways, a quick look at your loadorder and YiffyAgeSchlongs.esp has a particular flag (the red triangle with !). Do you see it? It means that plugin is missing a required mod (so its plugin is either not enabled in your loadorder or the mod is not installed at all). MO would also warn you about this with a Notification (same red triangle ! icon) in the button just above the Run button you always use to start the game. Spoiler alert: these things should not be ignored.
xBlaBlaBlax Posted October 26, 2020 Author Posted October 26, 2020 Alright, I guess its best if I start over once again...
xBlaBlaBlax Posted October 26, 2020 Author Posted October 26, 2020 I still need help. Here's what I did: 1. Uninstalled Skyrim 2. Reinstalled Skyrim 3. Created a new ModOrganizer copy 4. Installed a basic smattering of mods - nothing complicated, I have done all of these before and am confident I did it right. See screenshot. 5. Encountered crashes when I start a new game. The crash occurs immediately after the loading screen 6. Went through the guide @Psalam posted above: 6.1 Got TESVEdit and used it to clean all the DLCs 6.2 Got ENBoost and did all the config file changes 6.3 Installed crash fixes and SKSE plugin reloader 6.4 Got and ran Beth INI 7. Reran FNIS and LOOT for good measure 8. Encountered the same crash again 9. Realized I installed the SOS compatibility in XPMSE, but hadn't installed SOS yet 10. Installed SOS 11. Reran FNIS and LOOT again 12. Now I can hear the intro sequence (horses/cart) for a split second before it CTDs Any further suggestions? edit: Oh, and the 2 issues MO shows are: - Potential mod order problem - not sure what I can do here but run loot, this has been here since pretty much the beginning - "There are files in your overwrite mod" - same thing

You read the guide after installing Skyrim and adding mods? ?♀️

I fixed the load order issue. The overwrite files appear to be generated by running FNIS. Moving the files to their respective mods does not fix the CTD. 4 minutes ago, Grey Cloud said: And you did all that in 1 hour? You read the guide after installing Skyrim and adding mods? ?♀️ Yes. This ain't my first rodeo.

xBlaBlaBlax Posted October 26, 2020 Author Posted October 26, 2020 I was able to fix the CTD on New Game by downgrading from XPMSE 3 to XPMSE 2. Onwards.

Sounds like all you did was reinstall a version of XPMSE but this time either you have done it correctly or it has overwritten something.
xBlaBlaBlax Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 I was following the requirements and links here: https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/150-skyrim-sexlab-sex-animation-framework-v162-updated-jun-3rd-2016/ Note that I am posting this here purely for future reference in case anyone encounters the same issue and not to keep a conversation up with you, because you have done about fuck all trying to actually help so far.
Just Don't Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 You shouldn't be using the link labeled as XPMSE 2, that's actually the old XP32 Maximum Skeleton - XPMS, it's obsolete. You should be using XPMSE and verifying no other mod is overwriting the humanoid skeletons from this mod (spoiler: installing or keeping SOS after XPMSE in the left panel of MO is overwriting XPMSE... don't do it, in the SOS install disable the install skeleton options but also make sure it's placed before XPMSE in the left panel). I don't think others will have the exact same issues as you. Which BTW, you never clarified when does the crash happens or since when it started, etc. In the first reply I told you you had a missing master and your sole response was "Alright, I guess its best if I start over once again..." so once again, not clarifying shit nor sharing useful details to attempt to help you. Your issue is mostly not knowing how to use the mod manager you choose. Things like managing your modlist, keeping a clean Overwrite or just noticing the missing master/notification icon should be things you know. Otherwise you'll ungraciously jolt your way towards a buggy mess. There are plenty of resources to learn about it (like entire video series in YT to review every feature). Once you have that covered you should start looking into the mods you need to use and how should you install/place them.

Otherwise you'll ungraciously jolt your way towards a buggy mess. Yeah, I never figured out what caused the original CTD. I figured starting over was easier than trying to fix it - that's where the second CTD issue appeared, which apparently was caused by using the XPMSE version linked in the SL requirements as "XPMSE 3". Going with the one linked "XPMSE 2" worked instead. Right now its stable, but to avoid future I'm going to follow your advice and attempt to redownload & install the newest version. As for the overwrite: I've had stuff in there with only installing the most basic of mods. I don't know if thats normal. I do know that it hadn't caused me any issues for the most part. (I suspect the CTDs I had originally because I just added too many animations, but I don't want to invest the time to figure out.) I'm going to keep it in mind as potential problem when problems arise again. The missing master notification - yeah, thats on me, could have been smarter about that. I do know that the modlist I posted originally was already doctored to hell trying to fix things... but I don't want to make excuses. Now, what I don't appreciate is people being fucking assholes for no reason when they have nothing better to say - not you, you've been constructive and helpful. I mean the other guy. Like... If you don't want to help people dont hang around in a fucking technical support forum. But he has ten thousand posts so I guess that's how things are run here? Idk, my issue has been resolved and I have a solid base to work with now. Whatever. edit: Re-downloaded and -installed the latest version of XPMSE, appears to be stable now.
