vexily Posted November 14, 2025 Posted November 14, 2025 so something i am having trouble wrapping my head around, if you dont have "worn items safe" checked, and have the random option checked, is EVERYTHING just a mimic time bomb? like if i find a helmet, equip it and it doesn't roll as a mimic will it just keep rolling a dice every x ingame hours and when it rolls "positive" it transforms? or is there a way that the mod marks stuff as mimics? Â [what follows is based on a grand total of 0 experience with mod writing so it may well be impossible to do lol]-if its the former, and its not possible to truly track the armor pieces through equips unequips and inventory changes, could the mod in any way say intercept a looted item swapping it out for a clone of said item that is marked and trackable as an active mimic? eg you loot a hide helmet, mod checks to see if the item rolled as a mimic, then instead of giving you the hide helmet in your inventory, it drops in the mods version of a hide helmet that it can track through itemid as a mimic hide helmet? of course the downside would probably be that the item would no longer stack in your inventory giving itself away i guess? it also i guess would make it much much less compatible with armor/clothing mods as dmc would then need patches to give it clones of all the added items... Â Â i don't know... just rambling, gonna end on a question if anyone ends up reading this even since its been months since anything was posted here... if you use this mod, whats your prefered settings?Â

More or less. The random event rolls its chance, not an item, and tries to transform a randomly chosen, valid piece of the currently worn equipment. If you've looted a hide helmet but you don't wear it at that moment, it won't trigger. Mimics won't jump out of your bag, you always have to wear them or at least try to remove them.  It still respects other blocking conditions though, eg enchanted items still are safe if you set it to be, and the No Trigger Chest works as well.  On 11/14/2025 at 3:05 AM, vexily said: is there a way that the mod marks stuff as mimics? I don't know any way to track a specific item within an inventory without using SKSE, and I have no idea how to create a plugin for that, or even if SKSE would be capable of that. It might be possible to cast an enchantment to an item when adding it to player's inventory. That would circumvent restrictions with mod added stuff, but I haven't tried this yet and I assume it would 1) add some lag while looting, which is undesirable and 2) cause the item to not stack anymore, like you said, giving itself away as mimic Edited November 16, 2025 by Mister X

Okey there's a non-zero chance that this is happening because DMC uses an OnGameReload() event instead of the OnPlayerLoadGame() event to detect optional mod integrations. See if you save and load your game, the greyed out options will become available?

I already tried it, since i take some time to mess around on the mods config i do some saves and reloads to keep my configs or if i messed up i can go back to a previous config, even so it never become available to mess on the debug checks. So i'm just on a loss.
