uguu123 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 face and hair combined into 1 mesh, so you have to regenerate it (ctrl-f4 in CK) after changing hair or you will get grey face bug
NBIemand Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hmm I remember seeing those files somewhere, but came to the conclusion that the female body wasn't being used. Might have to take another look at that, probably just overlooked something there...x.x EDIT: from what I can see in the CK, the default vanilla game just uses a single body for both male and female. The NakedTorsoChild object in the CK uses the same mesh for male and female, both located at: meshes\actors\character\character assets\childbody.nif this also does not contain a head/hands/feet mesh. I made some texture edits to the basic texture to confirm that the same body was used, using the UV map from the female body as a refference. I marked some area's, and once in game, those marked areas did not line up with where they should be on the female body. When I did the same with the UV map of the male body, it did line up tho, which confirms that the female child uses the male body mesh, just with a different texture on it (whereas the female body was seemingly included, but not used in game).
kisscool1234 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Is it only me or Shlongs of Skyrim is not working with COTS boys ? I got CTD when boys get naked. Is there a mesh for an "erect" cots boy somewhere ?
Time Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I think I'm going to have to give up with this mod. I've read both threads twice. In the week I've had skyrim I have learnt a lot, but I'm not sure this mod is worth it; I have not seen anyone post they have it stable, perhaps those people don't bother to post. On my last try I was under the floor of the wagon on the way into the game - but I left it in case it was indicative of the first person camera fix working - but the game now crashes the moment the guy tries to cut my hands free in the first keep! So I would have to delete everything I have wrt skyrim...well, I think I have to do that anyway now. But will I try and get this mod working after the installing the script extender and all the rest...perhaps not. After no face, no arms, brown face, brown feet, just teeth and hair, very tall, strange eyes etc I'm not sure I have it in me to try again. Dame shame as it looks good for the 5% of the time it's worked for me.
Guest Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hmm .. i just did a new install of Skyrim. I used NMM with CotS before and an installer screen poppep up. Now it doesn't work anymore. Did i use a differrent version before ?
payes Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Is it only me or Shlongs of Skyrim is not working with COTS boys ? I got CTD when boys get naked. Is there a mesh for an "erect" cots boy somewhere ? Yeah I tried doing the same thing. The issue is that the... unit is technically not part of the mesh. And that it needs to be attached to the Race file via CK. Unfortunately, the SOS tutorial for accomplishing this is not up-to-date. I tried several similar CK tutorials, but was unsuccessful. Probably a user error. I also think their is some compatibility problems with the x117 skeleton, but I am not sure.
chan Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Strange, I'm sure I did this and nothing changed...I did use the NMM version, should I uninstall, delete the hair files from the zip, then reinstall, perhaps? EDIT: wow, I've uninstalled, edited the zip to not contain the hair files, and I STILL get the hair...o.0 I have no idea what the heck is happening anymore rofl Are the files I need the ones in: 00 Required\meshes\actors\character\Character Assets\hair or are there some more files elsewhere I missed? When you say that you're trying to get rid of the hairstyles, do you mean on yourself or on other children? If it's on other children, then the short answer is that you really can't... xvision's children requires apachii hair to load at all, and CotS depends on the xvision mod, so... yeah. If you want different choices for yourself, then probably the best option is to install another hair mod, and use those hairs instead. Also install the racemenu precache killer, found at http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33226//? Apachii isn't a requirement anymore. The hair and breton face bug was explained earlier in the thread I think. I would just delete those files from the COTS mod. I think I'm going to have to give up with this mod. I use custom textures and edited files and other mods with it and it runs fine. Sounds like your load order is the problem, there is no problem with this mod. Hmm .. i just did a new install of Skyrim. I used NMM with CotS before and an installer screen poppep up. Now it doesn't work anymore. neogrin Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Hello, My main question is, are there any Stockings that work with this Children of the Sky without major clipping? (looking for black and/or white nylons..with or without a garter belt). I have searched for the last 3 days for stocking that might fit the x117 skeleton or maybe even the UNP Skinny body using keywords like "loli" or "x117". I've even gone to a number of russun and japaneses sites (thank god for google translator). I see a ton of dresses or armor that have stockings, but either the stockings are connected to the armor or they assume you know were to find the stockings that will go with their awsome new dress. Very frustrating. I have tried the stockings in DIMONIZED UNP clothing resources and UNP Undies because I read that UNP seems to work well with this mod. But stocking from boh mods show allot of clipping. The funny thing is that if I add the shirts from the Dimonized UNP resource, the clipping goes away (and the whole character's body changes just a bit) Unfortunatly, I don't want to use those shirts, but that got me thinking. I am not very knowlegable about how meshes and skeletons work, but I think I understand that when you wear something, it sometimes uses it's own body mesh (which is why sometimes a shirt or dress makes you look like you have bigger or smaller breasts then you are supposed to have). So, since the items were made for the UNP body, I thought I would take the female mesh/nif files from my CotS install and replace them with the corresponding files from the UNP Base body mod (I'm not going to mind the minor changes to my character's body). That did not work, I still got the clipping with the stockings. I assume it has something to do with the x117 skeleton but I don't know what. So, at this point, I haven't been able to find any stocking that say they were made for this mod (or even for the x117 skeleton) and I have no idea how I would go about either changing my character's body to fit the stockings or how to change the stocking to fit the character (I'm just a player, not a modder). Thank you for reading and any help you can provide would be most appreciated.
neogrin Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 One other question. While going through the CotS files I figured out how to open the Texture/dds files and when I opened the Female Body file I noticed this: This is the area below the belly and right above the naughty bits. You will notice that there is black pubic stubble?!? (it's like this in both the Default Female Texture Set and the Optional - 2cnd Female Texture Set) Now, while I admit that I plan to play my CotS charater more as a Halfling than as a child (I mean look at the proportions of the girl in the pictures in my last post. Aside from the face, she looks more like a, slightly scrawny, shrunk down adult then a child) but the intent of this mod, as I understand it, is for these to be children of around 8 to 12 years old. So why do they have stubble?
chan Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Use the UNP meshes for the body, then all UNP armor will fit correctly.
MidbossVyers Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 This mod only affects the bodies of child NPCs and the player character when playing a loli, correct? In other words, it shouldn't affect any other NPCs nor the player character if playing as a vanilla race, right?
neogrin Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Use the UNP meshes for the body, then all UNP armor will fit correctly. Do you mean that I should replace all the female body meshes, in my CotS folder, with the body meshes from the DIMONIZED UNP female body mod ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6709//? )? If so, I have already tried that, it didn't work. Also, the female body mesh files in CotS and the UNP female mesh files are exactly the same. In the below picture, the left window is my CotS Mesh folder and the window on the right is the mesh folder from DIMONIZED UNP female body mod. You will notice that all the corresponding file have the exact same Date Modified time and exact same file Size.
rebeccamt Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Hello, I love the mod! However, the Mesh for Swimming seems... off. While swimming, my COTS looks like her back is broken... very unsightly, I think it is due to the default swim animation messing with the Mesh of COTS. Maybe a new animation is needed, like the awesome custom walk and run animations, those work great ==
WelkinDust Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 First off, jiitek, you are a god among men. Really, I need to thank you so much for this amazing mod. The Children of the Sky are so cute! My adorable new MC, Paige, thanks you too. How is R3 coming along? No rush, even though I can't wait! Just one question in general... Is Enhanced Character Edit 1.0+ compatible with CotS? The first time I installed CotS on my old computer last year, I seem to recall a conflict with the old version of ECE which really messed up the faces, to the point where I think I had to completely reinstall. Now that I'm getting back into Skyrim I just have to have my cute loli character... But then the fugly faces of all the "adult" NPCs really bug me. I'm hesitant to turn on ECE if it's just going to mess up all the faces again. And if it's not compatible, are there any mods that can upgrade the other races' looks without messing with CotS?
Skyrim Superior Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Hello. [iNCOMPATIBILITY] Incompatible with any mod that modifies the children. I know you said that, but does it really incompatible with ALL children related mods? Even with Non-Essential Children with Inventory Tweaks? Because I thought your mod only alter the children's appearances right? The N-ECwIT only alter the essentiality and inventory item of the childrens, it'll still considered to be incompatible with your mod? Well, I've tried your mod + N-ECwIT and seems like it changed the children back to being invincible (meaning that they can't be killed). If your mod really is incompatible with other children related mods, would you please be so kind as to include your own killable children as optional files? Thanks.

From the last page: I use ECE. You have to install it after CoT. Don't add the skeleton or extras, and don't let it overwrite the facegen data when asked. It WILL affect your current character, so you will have to go into showracemenu to make the head look correct...it will make sense when you see it.

Ya... but don't you kinda think that CotS is only "mildly" compatible with ECE? i mean.... i use both mods at the same time... but... hardly any of the ECE sliders work with CotS. Although the expanded tint/colour system works with CotS. i'm currently trying out the Monli Young Edition mod, which has the monli face but the CotS body (i thiiiink). Some skin textures have a visible "seam" at the neck.. but for others its not so bad. Plus, all the ECE sliders work with the Monli head/face Still looking forward to R3 though.

You can do the full install with ECE if you want, to make it easier I wouldn't let it replace the CoTs facegen data. Pretty sure you have to manually move some files around from ECE to other directories if you do a full install. I haven't done it in a long time.

It WILL affect your current character, so you will have to go into showracemenu to make the head look correct...it will make sense when you see it. So I tried it today but it acts a little weird. When I first enter the game my character looks like she did before... but if I enter showracemenu and try to move anything like her eyebrows, her head gets scaled much smaller and her nose gets very narrow and pointy. I can change the head scale again with the new settings, but it will NOT let me change the Nose Type, even in the new settings -- if I push the pointer through all of the "Nose type" options, the nose stays the same, pointy and really narrow. Looking at the posts on ECE's Nexus page, it looks like a conflict between ECE and RaceMenu is to blame for the nose thing. Guess I'll leave my character the way she is!
Llama Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Ugh.. You know that thing when stuff on the internet disappears after a while? I can't find the info anywhere anymore, so! ~Where did I go wrong?~ cots female NPC's heads are darker than the rest of em. I know this has been discussed multiple times on the course of the mod, but I guess my net-fu just isn't strong enough and/or I cannot read. It's disturbing to see every time i visit a hold! Was it a problem with the facegen...? or the bodies skintones messing up...? *DERP* All i had to do was to dig into the centerfolds of this thread, hah! But the uggly head problem still persists, either it's the face-colour-tint problem or the weird-adult-face issue if using killablebleble -esp.

Time Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Hi, Well I managed to get it working well, and being new to Skyrim I'm having a blast. And to give back a little to the thread, I thought I'd post my load order in case it may help out anyone trying to get to grips: The five vanilla ones on top Apachii RaceCompatibility ClimatesOfTamriel Unofficial Skyrim Patch USKP Patcher for RaceCompatibility Unofficial Dawnguard Patch Unofficial Hearthfire Patch Unofficial Dragonborn Patch Additional player voices for Skyrim Skyrim Flora Overhaul SkyUI iHUD (immersive HUD) Ritter Armor xvisionchildren YChildren of the Sky SoS - The Dungeons (Sounds of Skyrim) SoS - The Wilds SoS - Civilization Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Dungeons Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Dawnguard Interiors Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Major City Exteriours Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Major City Interiours Realistic Lighting Overhaul - MinorCities and Town Interiors ClimatesOfTamriel FNISspells UFO - the main one UFO - Dawnguard UFO - Heartfire UFO - AllwaysDrawWeapons AshenFollowers YChildren of the Sky - Tia YChildren of the Sky - Yune YChildren of the Sky - Nila CharacterMakingExtender Enhanced Character Edit Purewaters DudestiaOutfitChanger (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11662/? a handy way to change and lock clothes) Show Race Menu Precache killer does not show up in the load order list, but it's an important mod as it allows you to showracemenu in game without a crash http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33526/? As has been mentioned; the thing to be careful of is not overwriting important things as you add these mods; after a few goes I'm finding it much easier to be alert to when I don't want to overwrite. If I'm alerted to a mod about to overwrite a skeleton I take a great deal of notice. I left out all the clothing from the list, but I don't think that matters. Hope it may help someone in the same position I was in a few days back - about to give up. I have one question: I wanted to start another teenage character that's going to need me to install COTS again (diff preferences needed). I was thinking that I could just archive my current saves to load in the future when I come back to the COTS config I'm using now. Does that sound like a good idea to you guys, or am I missing something that's going to bite me?

spexwood Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Im just reporting this in case someone comes on here with a similar issue: If your female NPC children are walking around with white skin, dark faces, and no wrists, AND you have PC Exclusive Animation Path installed, then UNINSTALL PC Exclusive Animation Path. I had CotS running and working perfectly for months (I only use it for NPC children and not my character), and after installing a few new mods, this issue suddenly starting happening. Because I installed multiple new mods and noticed the issue days later, I had to spend about an hour trying to debug the problem. It turns out that one of my newly installed mods, PC Exclusive Animation Path, for whatever reason, causes the faces of the female (ONLY!) children to become dark (Redguard maybe?) and their wrists to disappear. I am not requesting a fix (although it would be nice), but I am just reporting this since so many people come on here requesting help for installation problems, etc. I just ran into another mod that causes this exact same issue: "Make any child your follower" http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23030/? Again, just reporting it.
