Newb can't install animation packs

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I'm having a bit of a problem in adding animation packs to SL. I feel that I'm missing something basic, but I can't figure out what it is.

SL was working fine with only the included animations, so I don't feel it's an SL install problem.

My process was as follows:

1. Download and install the packs using NMM

2. Run FNIS (the new animations showed)

3. Make sure NMM is using the new FNIS information

I note that when running the game, the number of animations in the MCM is the same as before I installed the packs, even after I update the animation registry.

Can someone give me a hand and let me know what the problem might be?

Assuming you have SLAL installed, Register the animations.

If you don't have SLAL installed, then there's your problem.

Well, I do have SLAL installed, and I updated the animation registry in SL (I assume that's what you mean by registering the animations) and that hasn't fixed the issue sadly.

Did you enable the animations?  Does the SLAL count animations show a valid number and is that the same number as what Sexlab itself shows?

SLAL has an MCM. You need to go there, enable the animations you want (it has an "enable all" butten on the main page, but it won't recognize it if you go above the SL limit which is 500 for humans and 500 for creatures, so use careful), then register them, via the SLAL MCM. Not the SL MCM. Then you should be good to go, no further action needed, especially do NOT update the animation registry in SL. I can't remember rn if it would remove them again, but it's unecessary at least.

As for every mod you install, it might take a while until an MCM appears. What always works for me is: Start the game, wait a bit, open any MCM and close it, save, load, , possibly open any MCM again and close it, then wait. Still may take a while, but after 5 minutes or so the new MCM should appear.

Ugh... I knew it was something basic. That's found two of the four packs I installed. Would it take a few minutes for the others to load into the SLAL MCM menu?

Hmmm... i'm not entirely sure, SLAL is always in my load order and never the first thing i check so it might be, another reason might be that you accidently installed a resource instead of a SLAL pack or something like a poser mod which is unrelated to SLAL.

Well, one of the two offending packs was Leito's which is mostly in SL anyway and I suspect the other one needed the Creatures Pack, which I wasn't interested in.

I've got another pack working as well now, so I think I should be vaguely OK from hereon in.

Thanks!
