Since i have tried the device i can confirm that it is that good. You REALLY have the feeling of physically being inside the environment And yes i can confirm that the Skyrim game will have NON- OFFICIAL support of the device. In matter of fact i have hacked drivers already installed on my computer with distorted image, head rolling, pitching working and etc. Only thing that are not working correctly are the shadows and thus you have to disable them. The hacker who created the driver has now abondoned the project because he got hired by virtual headset developers. But good news is that the drivers are available as an open source and there are already people adding new games support. So ladies and gentlemen. THis is it. Skyrim will be the first game in world which will be a virtual sex simulator. All your fantasies, you had to tolerate the fact that you look them trough 2D flat surface. But not anymore. This device will enable you to be with them in the same room. ANd i do not give out any names or suggestions how to get the device, find drivers and install them. If VR motivates you enough you will easily find all the info yourself trough google. So load up your favourite player home and your favourite ladies (or monsters, rabbits, or whatever the crazy stuff your into) and have fun.

Trust me ,people who developed Kinect , motion controls and other stuff ,would bring that to you a long time ago Sony ,Microsoft & others also would tear each other throats for this money making gadget.Since people are limited in thinking i'll give you an example - not every single human has an 170 IQ and phenomenal mind as an physicist or mathematician,musician or artist. Cause human organism is limited. And i don't see John Carmack has sold millions of his VR As long as there will be stupid people ,there's always will be profit.

Oh i see you are an armchair critic I have been VR enthusiast my whole life and tried out countless of headsets. The old 90 crappy ones and not so old sony hmd with 45 fov of field. ---- VR sex industry rant --- for those who are interested in subject. The reason why VR might work this time is that now we have cheap and good technology to do VR headsets. This is all thanks to mobile phone industry. All the trackers, gyros, screens are cheap and very good quality. The biggest skeptics have tried out and said that this might be the thing. But i cant tell you because this is a thing you just have to try out yourself. Now all comes down to the content because VR headset cannot be successful without software. Hence the developers kit on the kickstarter. There are many projects already in works. This is your chance to get rich. If you are software developer then i assure you that the adult content on the headset will be the most best selled software and in early days where there are very little competition you can make some pretty good money out of it. And i can prove it. Just google a word "Sinful Robot" <---- this is a game studio that announced that they will make erotic games for the VR device. Bare in mind that these people have nothing to show. Their website is empty, the owners of the studio are unkonw and on the website they are still rearching for 3d artists and developers. And still. They only had to release ONE press release a 30 minute job and the whole internet is full of the news about Sinful Robot. A studio with nothing to show got even more press attention that the headset itself. That just shows how badly people want VR adult content. And now they have investors backing and etc.. Easy stupid money just for releasing a press release that took 30 minutes to write. I am true believer. When i tried to VR goggles with Doom. A 8 year old game. It was still so realistic and impressive. My only thought was Skyrim + Boobies. How much better experience it will be. Skyrim is only a starting point. I guess that we will start to see freaky thngs from Japan Hope that will give you a few ideas.

Just look at all the high names in the industry who have put their reputation on line and said "this is the real thing". And it does not make more harm than staring a regular screen. If fact it is even better for your eyes because the distorted image + correction lens will let your eye focus indefinitely. You can easily focus on object on foreground and background. (This is the reason why you would not need to have depth of field effects in VR game.) Eye strain comes from focusing on single point for a long period of time. You focus to position where your 2d flat screen is. In VR there is no such problem and your eyes wont get strained in the long run. Currently the only broblem is motion sickness and smart people are looking at the ways to reduce it too. Motion sickness comes from the brain when it gets confused. Like you run around but your body is sitting still in a chair. That can cause you not feeling so well but it depens from person to person. Thats why its not a good idea to play "twitch" fast paced game in VR. But its perfect when you sit in a chair and let virtual characters do "stuff" around you. Skyrim has that possibility and it will be great in VR. The projector tehcnique you showed is total crap because they are just 2d objects projected on a wall. There are techniques to make them seem as a 3D but its still not the same as being iside the environment.

But this article is almost 3 years old and lot has happened between now and then. I think that we are talking about different things. I am talking about a certain VR headset that is not crap like all the others. A headset that really works and immerses you into reality. You are talking about the VR industry in general and why it will never work. This headset that i am talkng about is the first one that will start to overcome these problems. And it will only get better. If done right we very well might see another VR industry growing and thriving because the timing is right. 1) games Right now more than 10k developers kit are being shipped out to developers. Most of them are indie but there are few big AAA studios working with it aswell. The consumer version is still 1- 2 years down the road and the headset developers have openly stated that there has to be content before they start selling consumer version. Hence the developer kit. 2) Prices Thanks to mobile and tablet industry the pricer have reduced dramatically. The headset is going to cost around 300 dollars. You can order a developer kit right now only for 300 bucks. If people invest hundreds of dollars into videocards then it normal that they invest 300 dollars on a device that will immerse them into a game. 3) No big players. It is good that ther is no big players. For some reason big players lack the innovation these days and only thinking about getting rich. VR for big players might not be attractive enough because it will not generate them billions of dollards. They just wanna release next call of duty that sells well. Only Sony created a similar thing a "portable overpriced TV headset" that is not very good for gaming. And the PS4 presentation was awful. I wanted to cry. Its just same old with graphics that we as PC gamers already have. 4) Lack of support The author talks about VR desktop and having OS support for it. I do not think that VR would be good for desktop replacement. I would like to work with a 2d flat screen and with keyboard and mouse. VR works better with entertainment multimedia where you can immerse yourself into a virtual world. 5)Lack of professional applications Applications will come sooner or later. But first thing first. We have to get games right. And there is already 10k developers signed up with who are eager to start producing content on it. Thanks to several popular game engine integration the VR content will not be that hard to produce. So this is perfect starting point. The VR is not going to take over the world but it will give us alot better experience that we got 5-20 years back. 6) Lack of standards Why would i need standards if i there is only one headset in the market. They have their SDK and everyone uses that. If they help along to grow the VR industry and there will be other devices in market then there needs to be a standard. But we are not there yet. 7) Too much snake oil Yes there is. And this snake oil is reson no.1 why so many people are dissing this device. I was one of them. I hate general 3D TV and i was huge skeptic when i first wen to try it out. Coming out from the VR made me another person. It really exceeded my expectations and i really felt like i was in the world. 8) Cyber sicknkess cyber sickness mainly came from that everyone and their mother played quake or any other fast paces FPS shooter in VR. Of course you will get motion sickness. You are making movements that you are unable to do in real life. VR is not meant for twitch fps game. VR is meant for slow paced immersed exploration games where you pay attention to details. 9) Tech does not improve Yes it does. It comes cheaper mostly due to the mobile phone technology. Thats why we thos VR goggles are priced at 300 dollars. And the screen covers your field of view entirely and your head is tracked inside the environment. Not like a Sony HMD 45 degree fov TV screen that sits in a darkness and you cant move your head because the screen move along with it and make you feel sick. 10) your eyes never get out of fashion. Of course they dont. But your eyes cannot make you do or visit places where you never had been before. You cannot visit Skyrim by just using your eyes And author talks about medical thing where you see infomration about bones and stuff that would help surgeons to do their work. The author is talking about augmented reality and confusing it with virtual reality. And about the projector picture you posted. Its very nice and all but this costs you 10k dollar to set up and take a lot of room. Also there is no 3D and no sense of depth. So your eyes still understand that you are watching 2d screen and your brain is not getting fooled that you are inside the world. The vr helmet joke picture you posted was pretty good. Most of them were also very skeptical before they tried it out. I only had a chance to try doom3 which is 8 years old game and it was still pretty good. Too bad i did not have a chance to look at UDK demo. <--- for anyone who is more interested in this i suggest watching this panel. They authors are not bullshiting anyone around and are going into pretty details about the problem of VR industry and how they see and try to better them.

hornydevil Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Alrright... now some time has been passed and i recieved my dev unit on Friday (just after GDC) and i have played an entire weekend with it. So naturally the first thing i did was loading up the Skyrim with modded drivers. So i am going to write about my experience to whoever might be interested in VR + Skyrim. The experience was... a bit weird (in a very ... very good way). I was truly inside of a game and my brain just went crazy because i was in unnatural world. The first thing i did was just sitting down on a bench on my Asteria home and i almost spent 2 hours just watching the time pass by. Then i realised that there is so much to try out. First of all the experience was not perfect because Skyrim is not meant for VR. For instance GUI really got on my way. Luckily i could remove the entire gui with the mods. Secondly some objects seem to be out of scale a little bit. When looking trough the monitor the details like book, bread and etc... seem pretty normal. But when you are in VR and surrounded by the world then the real scale issue pops out. The details are little bit big and they seem odd. The most beautiful experience is when you step outside and just look around. Those huge mountains are REALLY REALLY huge 8 hours later of modding and tinkering with different settings in order to get better VR experience i was finally ready to start playing around with an adult mods. Out of curiosity the Estrus mod was the first one i tried out. The experience was very unpleasant (atleast for me). The tentacles are really not my kind of thing and it was really distrurbing to watch my follower lady in mercy of these things. Especially i freaked out when i stepped too close to the tentacles and got a feeling that i am going to get hit on a head by them. So overall i did not like it but it is a matter of taste and experience might be different to others. So then came the next scenario. I loaded up the mod where you can make random npc having sex with each other. That was when something clicked on me. I was sitting on Asteria with my 12 lady followers and you cannot even imagine how exiting is to see them to have an orgy with each other. Its exiting to see this on screen but in VR ist a WHOLE ANOTHER story. You are there. You are with them. It feels like you can reach out and touch them. (of course you cant, you cannot even see your hands which is weird) I tried to have them to have sex with my character but it did not feel right. The camera was positioned weird and the woman was humping an empty air in front of me. So this was the experience i got. One funny thing is that now i cannot stand to play this game normally again. I despise to look at the 2d screen when i know that i have a device that puts me inside the game. To me the Skyrim on 2D screen is looking dull and boring now. Like a game in 80-ties. The VR had a miserable failure in past but thanks to cheap electronics in mobile devices i really think that this one could be success at last. We are there now and it can only get better from now on. I dont care what the next "i am the smartest idiot in a room and i say that VR is dead and sucks" says. This is one thing you have to try to believe. I doubt it will get into mass market right now but atleast the first right steps towards immerisive VR has been taken and in 4-5 years we might have an entire new home VR gaming category. Of course there is a downside to it. And it is addiction. I am a developer and i should use my kit to produce content for VR but i just cannot tear myself out of the Skyrim world. Bare in mind that i do not play the game, i just experience the environment and adult actions inside it. Its a beautiful place to escape from everyday dull gray life Now exucuse me i have an orgy to attent/scpectate.

It would be really fucking cool to get this to work with a 3d modeling application not even just games. I would drop money on this if I had any understanding of drivers/w32/sys64.

Also there have been rumours that there has been talks with Autodesk to have an official support but i dont see this happen anytime soon. The dev virtual kit is also too low rez for 3D modelling. But consumer version will support HD.

That said it would certainly be interesting to play some of the adult mods out there with them. It sure would make rape "money shots" a lot more fun or frightening depending on the player ..And now i want a Oculus headset and a first person group oral sex mod.
