If YOU were a Sim, list your 5 traits

A lot of the other modded game sections have fun 'community' posts. I thought I'd start one myself. No rules really other than your traits must be from the EA default available - all EP's and other content from EA is acceptable - no KW/etc.

I myself started to ponder once I chose a couple. Obviously there are traits missing which I feel would pertain to me, but this is just for fun, so I'll start.

If you need a reminder - https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Trait_(The_Sims_3)

As a Sim, my traits would be:  1) Commitment Issues

                                                2) Good

                                                3) Artistic

                                                4) Loner

                                                5) Couch Potato

20 Years ago most of these would have been vastly different, but I'm trying to be honest with myself as of right now.

I think it's interesting to be self aware, and trying to be accurate within reason. Plus when making Sims, this kind of info can be useful in making a town more fun to play.

Damn. Only 5? Party pooper on not allowing those mods that allow 4 times as many.  But, sheesh. 25 (as the limit I have for YAE set to) would be impossible to list.

Definitely these three:

#1 Computer whiz

#2 Loner

#3 Shy

#4 Genius (as per this statement:  "Geniuses prefer watching the history channel on the television.")

Not so sure about which one of these best fits:

Over-emotional
Good

Handy

Perfectionist

Dislikes children (which is odd, since I don't mind playing households that have children)

Dammit, @landess that "only 5" limit is hard!  We'll say #5 is Perfectionist, since it kinda explains why I'm struggling over this list so much.

Also, damn EA for adding Wii-only traits. :(  Uttered "WTF is that trait a few too many times looking at that list you linked to".  There's a few I saw in that list that I'd like to have in my game.  ?

5 is from the default without mods or University 'master' Jock/Rebel/Nerd additions. I think it also makes one focus on the bigger picture. I found it interesting certain 'traits' were also given as 'lifetime rewards' once a particular KW goal/limit was reached.

hmm,i would go with

1) Bookworm ( I read every Book  and Comic i can get my Hands on,don´t care how boring it is)

2)Shy ( I need time to befriend someone)

3)Loner ( I had some Girlfriends but it ends always in a Disaster. So I give up and tend to be alone

4) Genius ( read to much, and some keeps in my Brain, mostly Nerd Wisdom and Facts)

5)Socially Awkward ( because Paranoid is not a Trait. I never use a Smartphone, don´t buy Games on Steam,Origin,Whatever, and don´t use Social Media.I don´t trust them and i´m a Human ,not a Dumb Sheep who sells her Soul for Advertising. My Life is not for Data Mining)

This is fun. Let's get on with it.

1) Brooding

Contemplative as default state of mind. Always pondering the existential questions and intriuged by mysteries. Philosophy is a great hobby of mine.

2) Genius

I am a genius according to sims-logic in the sense that I savour the pursuit of the mind. Always striving to obtain knowledge. Living an emotionally detached life that normatively as well descriptively operates accoridng to the principles of objectivity and rationality.

3) Loner

Introvert. Enough said.

4) Night Owl

During weekends one stays up late in the morning. Finding the best time during the day is the comfort and silence of the dark.

5) Inapproperiate

This ought to be self-explainatory. I dress the way I want with little regard of social pressures. My speech often come across as uncaring and blunt. Rarely if ever apologies when hurting other people.

Since I have university degree I will allow myself an additonal trait,

6) Bookworm

I try to read as much literature as possible. In 2019 I read 14 books, as for 2020 4 down thus far. The overtly prefered literature is non-fiction, however also read occasional fiction such as gothic, poetry and fairytales.

EDIT: Corrected spelling mistakes

Perhaps Someone at Maxis took a course in psychology, Since the few variations are enough to be able self-profile somewhat.

Absolutely, just look at how socializing and personalities works in SIms 4. While not having played the game myself, from what I've seen from Let's Play on YouTube and heard from a friend. Moods and emotions are even more complex.

This artcile is a very interesting read.

"Listening to Ingebretson describe the ins and outs of The Sims 4 AI feels like a blunt lesson in human psychology. At its most basic, the AI works with the interplay between two mechanics: commodities and utility curves. Commodities represent a Sim's internal state while a utility curve dictates an avatar's desire to fulfill a commodity. Every interaction opens up a series of possible improvements. "For instance, if a Sim drinks a cup of coffee, their energy will go up but their bladder will go down," Ingebretson says. Just as in the real world, everything's a trade-off. So, when making every decision, a Sim considers all possible actions, analyzes their outcomes, references the utility curve, and selects the best one. However, these actions are somewhat randomized by design so the AI doesn't start to feel predictable. "

Also, from another intriuging article.

"To understand the appeal of The Sims, it helps to understand a bit about Will Wright, the game's creator and co-founder of the game company Maxis. Wright is widely known as the philosopher king of the computer-game world, equally at home in the library as in the arcade. His games may be mass-market hits, but they're based on some very brainy theories about behavior, economics and humanistic psychology."

"Wright boned up on psychologist Abraham Maslow's Motivation and Personality, including his famous theory of the hierarchy of needs. Maslow argued in the '40s and '50s that human behavior could best be explained as a quest to satisfy primal needs such as hunger and safety before addressing demands such as love or self-actualization. The Sims are programmed this way, which is why they seem so true to life. For example, your Sim won't enjoy a movie if she's hungry. Aesthetic appreciation of a movie is a higher-order pleasure—and she can't do it if her stomach is growling."

@Rendas

Your post makes me miss the Sims 2 with the 'negative traits' each had to deal with, as well as the Sims Medieval, with the fatal flaws...  I just can't get past the true open world and CAS/CAST of the Sims 3 to play any other versions ATM.

Interesting read on Will Wright - it seems I sense a pattern here. Intelligent people create a concept. It gets refined over the next few iterations, while gaining popularity. Then the popularity gains the attention of corporate interest, in which the concept begins to lose what made it popular in the first place....

As for the Sims 4, if it wasn't for having to use Origin, and the return to the 'closed world' concept (and somewhat cartoon look), I definitely would have tried it out, although I'm not crazy about spending ANOTHER $500+ on EP's again x2.

I almost write top 5 traits I frequently choose for my Sims ?

1. Cat Person ?

Pretty sure I'm the one who loves cat so much. I have two cats, both female.

One calico and one ginger. They're actually mother and daughter. The calico one is the mama cat.

Also, I'm usually feeding street cats who pass through my house. Cats for life ?

2. Shy ?

I'm totally introverted. Like really really introverted.

Glad to know that I still have close friends.

Barely hanging out and prefer staying at home with my gadgets ?

3. Supernatural Fan ?

I'm very lucky considering myself as a supernatural fan.

I love creatures like Vampire and Mermaid/Merman.

I also literally consider myself as a Witch )O(

4. Hopeless Romantic ?

Too bad I've never had a boyfriend. I'm a sucker of romantic things.

Even little thing like holding hands and embracing my boyfriend would be a gift to me.

I actually only need a good man who can't live without me ?

5. Lucky ?

Last but not least. Don't know. This would be the best part I love so much about me.

I'm not born as a genius but gratefully my life is surrounded by people who love me.

I hope to always light those who care about me ?

1.  Genius - Bright, broad knowledge of a great many areas in soft sciences, hard sciences, and business, but nothing really super in depth.  In S3 University Life, Genius applies to all degree majors.  I do like Chess, but not really excellent at it, in fact, been a long time since I played it.

2.  Shy - Pretty much as in TS3, I only really open up to my few friends and will really not engage with people I don't know well.

3.  Eco-Friendly - Have been environmentally concerned since I was a kid (one could blame Captain Planet for that), given the preference, I would choose something more sustainable over increased costs.

4.  Computer Whiz - Been with computers since I was 6 or so.

5.  This one is tough.  My latest TS3 incarnation has Eccentric, but that doesn't really fit me.

5a:  Possibly Brooding over the future and philosophical questions.  I tend to be a bit moody.
5b:  Possibly Cat Person.  Been with cats my whole life and seem to have an easy time being able to pet a strange cat if it's not totally feral.
5c:  Possibly Night Owl, I definitely prefer night to day.

5d:  Possibly Bookworm, if I'm not on the computer in my free time, I'm probably (re-)reading a book.  And I know how often I have to stop bookworms from reading books.

This one is tough.

I think 5 is a number which helps Sims react individually given the limited number available to begin with. If there were 100 traits, then maybe 10 would be reasonable.

It's interesting how some traits also have some form of Lifetime Wish associated while others most definitely help Sims in the financial arena. I myself have been trying to use odd traits for custom Sims as I became bored with safe/successful Sims - shit makes me laugh sometimes.

these 5

All the classic traits of a 'Dreamer'. The people whom tend to invent or create. Even jogging can be useful in clearing ones mind of the everyday noise which builds up in our heads. I laughed at the misspelling of 'Loner' - I have to give you credit for that one, it kept my interest. Sorry about the bad 'Bank' puns. Humor is a trait I never mastered.
