Ahhh.....small problem occured.

When I checked BA and saved the game' date=' volume of save file was 700kb.

But when I unchecked BA and saved the game, volume of save file was 2200 kb.[/quote']

I'm not following...when you enable Break Armor, your saves are smaller? Or did you mean something else?

Oh, sorry there is some misprints.

'When I disable BA and saved the game, volume of save file was 700kb.'

But when I enable BA and saved the game, volume of save file was 2200 kb.

In same place, same time, same character, same items, same runningtime.

Also, I overwrited your latest test fix patch(1.10b test patch) but it didn't work.

Savetime is still too long(over 10 second) and volume of savefile is too big when I checked BA.esp.

I'm not using old Breakundie system and BreakUndies_stock.ini. I only use breakarmor 1.10a and Vanilla Break armor.

Well that's disappointing. First off, let me thank you for the bug reports. They are always appreciated.

I've just tested several configurations and variations in an attempt to replicate the error you are describing, but I'm not having much luck.

Test1: New Character, clean Oblivion Install. BreakArmor.esp and alternate start are the only non-vanilla mods.

a. BA not active First test in city isle, save size 830 kb.

b. BA active, test after running around the island for 5 minutes, roughly 10 bandits encountered including several with breakarmor meshes. save size 838 kb.

c. BA active, test after another 5 minutes with ~20 more bandits, 3 more dungeons, save size 851 kb.

Size differences that I am getting are consistent with standard temporary exploration bloat.

Anyways, I've gone ahead and put together another patch. I've added an extra entry to disable and delete the removed temporary inventory references. They should be getting purged automatically, but they are the last possible source of save bloat that I can come up with.

Hopefully this will resolve your issue. Note: this won't resolve pre-existing save bloat, only prevent new bloat. Use Wrye Bash's save cleaning feature to remove bloat from an existing save.

What other mods are you running in addition to BreakArmor? I'm wondering if there is some strange interaction between Break Armor and something else.(although there really shouldn't be)

o.o o.o o.o o.o :dodgy::dodgy::dodgy::dodgy:

I forgot to check associated obse file size. wooops.

But thanks to 6 different streamsave files, I figure that obse file size has increased to 3,700kb from 2,600kb after I entered a dungeon and engaged some enemies.

I don't see no hard proof of save bloating at the moment.

Ah, I don't know that you still need my game environment,

anyway this is my current information.

I'm running OBSE 0021b , and I use breakarmor 1.10 and that's ini.(Break_Armor.ini)

I didn't use old BU system and that's ini, also BreakUndies_stock.ini too now.

I used BreakUndies_stock.ini when the BA version was 1.08, but after you fixed CTD, I remove 1.08 and updated to 1.09, and deleted that ini.

Now, I'm using 1.10a + your latest fix.

Anyway, thanks again!

A small problem occured. I think it is not critical bug, just little getting on my nerves.

If I repaired half-break(35%) armor which is wearing to 100%,

Armor health restore ordinarily, but armor texture did not change. Its texture was still half-broken armor texture.

I saved the game, and armor automatically reequipped, but nothing happened. Armor texture was still half-broken armor texture.

But when I loaded that save file, then the armor reequipped and the texture replaced full-restored armor.

Not exactly, but I saw this(or very similar) problem on old version of BA before ver1.10b too.....

Ahhh....I wonder if you can understand what I say, because of my poor english. Sorry.

Hmm. The last time I checked, armor swaps were occurring normally after repair, but that was a couple of versions ago. I don't actually get to spend much time actually playing the game. I'll see if I can replicate the problem.

Let me be certain that I understand.

1. Armor is damaged, mesh swap occurs, and you have broken armor

2. You repair that armor using a repair hammer (so you have the repair menu open)

3. No mesh swap occurs, and the broken mesh remains.

Saving the game triggers an unequip/re-equip, but no mesh swap, but loading the game triggers the normal mesh swap?

OK, I'll see if I can replicate this. It's possible that my data purging was a bit overzealous and that I am discarding a piece of data too quickly.

***EDIT***

OK, so far I am unable to replicate the error that you are reporting. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I tried the following with several different armors:

1. Equip armor

2. Repeatedly cast damage armor on self to degrade the armor through several break stages

3. Repair the armor using the repair hammer.

Every variation of armor, repair amount, and damage amount that I tried worked exactly as it should.

Please do me a favor and open your Break_Armor.ini file.

Look for the line

set aaBACycle.debugMsg to 0

and change it to

set aaBACycle.debugMsg to 1

Then, next time you encounter the bug, take a look at the console. With debugging level 1 enabled, any time that Break Armor swaps a mesh, it will report the mesh path in the console. Let's see if we can track down the problem that way.

That way we'll at least know if Break Armor is trying to swap the armors, and what it is swapping them to.

Break Clothing appears to be working well.

I've seen just once that my cloths don't back to normal state as my fatigue restores (with 1.10 RC c iirc)

Now I updated to 1.10 and not tested much.

Not important thing but maybe you could make some change on health/fatigue formula.

I havn't played 1.10b at all. Let's see.

Seems like this bug is occasional thing? You said BA handles clothings and armos with exactly same way then these could be the same problem.

And as fas as I remember what situation I was in... yes, I think this... happens.

If we can track down the situations where it occurs (assisted by the console spam from that timeframe), I might be able to come up with some sort of work around.

Here's the challenge. Because more than one actor may be wearing the same armor in a given cell, BreakArmor resets the mesh path to the default mesh immediately after every swap. This means that it is effectively impossible to determine the currently displayed mesh on a given actor.

Instead, I store the last known break state in the actors array and reference that against the health of the item (or actor health/fatigue for clothing).

The only thing that I can think of is that if something crazy happened and the mesh swap failed for some reason, Break Armor might end up with a mesh state in the actor's array that does not match the displayed mesh.

I'll see if I can come up with anything, but this is a problem that is probably impossible to detect without some means of determining the currently displayed mesh. And since every test will simply return the unbroken state mesh, we may be stuck.

The best we can probably hope for is to track down the situations that lead to the problem. If we can do that much, I can probably come up with some ugly kludgy work-around.

They were old massage which appeared few minutes ago.

I saveed the game, but armor mesh wasn't swap again.

And also any console message appeared neither.

But when I turn off the game, restart, and load that save file,

Armor mesh automatically swapped and console message apeared.

Here is the console massage.

Do you experience this only when NPCs repair your armor, or have you also experienced it when you repaired your armor yourself?

I also experienced it when I repaired myself by using repair hammer.

OK. That information was very helpful in narrowing the problem. I think I've figured out the situations that can cause this and I have an idea for a possible solution that might resolve the issue.

I'll post an update once I've gotten the wrinkles out.

*Edit*

OK, I've attached a test update for Break Armor. This adds a check, once per cycle, that removes the state tracking on any items that are no longer equipped.

This means that any time you unequip/re-requip an item, Break Armor should automatically re-initialize the item and perform a mesh swap.

Please let me know if this fixes the issue and if you encounter any other oddities.

the solution sounds logical.

anyway, i guess i get a lot of savegame bloating and maybe mods incompatibility even on fresh characters... i love this mod so much, but at the moment with all those mods isntalled, i can track it down to just one mod and oblivion tended to have those issues even when i played it the very first time, which was vanilla.

i already have some mods installed which supposedly should reduce bloat, but i guess they're rather making it worth in other ways.

if anyone comes out with a biiiiig fix/patch for that problem i guess he/she will get the "Science Nobelpreis" :D

edit:

Please let me know if this fixes the issue and if you encounter any other oddities.

Oh thanks. I'll try it.

But' date=' how can I know this fix works fine?

means it needs even more testing then... too bad.

No program will ever be free of need for test.

And the bugs are getting even harder to find.

@gerra6

I played oblivion a bit today , and I've noticed that my .obse file sizes are growing slowly but continiously.

   SetBody.esp (749 strings)
   MiniMap.esp (121 strings)
   Nudeshy X.esp (45127 strings)
   BreakArmor.esp (4202 strings)

This is my obse log. A few days ago it was about 2800 strings. Not sure if this is problematic or not though.
