Club 503

 

So here's the nightclub lot I mentioned I wanted to upload. I Recently went over it and updated it to look much better than it used to, I believe. Unlike the orgy nightclub lot from the first page, this is actually a complete lot and a functional one at that. 

 

I built the lot quite some time ago, originally in Newcrest, then had it in San Myshuno, then recently moved it to Del Sol on the Studio PBP lot. I think it fits in well enough there, I imagine it could be a repurposed old film set or soundstage maybe. I chose the name "in honor" of the many times I've been plagued by 503 errors while trying to upload files and pictures to this site, it also kind of sounds like a real nightclub name, so that's a plus I guess.

 

This one doesn't have as much CC as the house I uploaded last page, but I did give it a custom lot trait, the "Bouncer" trait from Basemental drugs (not included), which will spawn a bouncer who'll walk around and occassionally check sims to see if they are where they should be, if you have Get Famous the door to the VIP room in the second floor should also be manned by a bouncer (in that case a base game, not Basemental, bouncer).  

 

Here's some pictures I took. Keep in mind these are all posed, and you probably shouldn't have this many sims on one lot if you think performance is generally a good thing

Update: For those interested here's an alternate version of 503's VIP room that I just put together, which is a bit more optimized for WW, the CC sofas used were slightly taller than normal sofas, and I've experienced crashes with the long table by the wall, I also replaced the sofa by the window with two arm chairs, which gives access to the window, again in the interest of having more WW sex positions available.

Appealing name inspiration, I like it. Unrelated topic, I have a question for you: when you first started creating your Sims did you go through same face/Sim syndrome?

@WickedLoveXxx Thank you! I'm not quite sure what you mean by same face/Sim syndrome, but it sounds like you're talking about the tendency that I think pretty much everyone has to make the same sorts of faces when left to their own devices. If that's what you're thinking of, then I have to say that's still an issue I have, and not one you can easily rid yourself of I find, the solution for me is to try to be aware of my own tendencies and be self-critical of my own sims and try to see if they look like others I have already made (when that happens I often end up putting an in progress sim aside for a while and return to them later to try to change them up, especially if there were elements of them that I liked). I also always use reference pictures when making my sims, I don't really care that much about getting an exact likeness, but it's always good to use a face of some kind (real or fictional) as a starting point as that will help you create sims with more varied and natural features. 

 

And to everyone who's replied so far over the past weeks: Thank you, I really appreciate getting feedback and seeing that people appreciate my efforts. Also a request from me, and don't let this deter any you from posting, but if you are going to quote the download description posts at least take out any pictures or text that isn't strictly related to your question or comment

@mrrakkonn You're more than welcome as well as appreciated for your work and taking the time to reply. My bad about the unrelated quote I'm still not used to operating feedback replies on here. The reason for my question is I'm trying to use the generator to create a family from just one sim. While I don't mind them looking alike (it's a bunch of females, just different ages), I don't want them to be exact copies of one another if that makes sense.

I also began working on a makeover of sorts of the Caliente household (and Don Lothario, since he's part of that household in Sims 4), though really it's perhaps more of a re-imagining. I'm basing it mostly on stuff I've read on the fan wiki and picking and choosing, and most of what I chose were the Sims 2 bits and parts of the appearance from a console game I didn't know existed way back. So I'm going back to the Caliente sisters being the children of Flamenco and Nighat Caliente and of Spanish(?) and Arab descent, so my re-imagining kind of leaves out their mother Katrina from the Sims 4 version, I'm also going to leave out them being aliens/hybrids, because that's not really my kind of deal. 

 

  

 

    

 

It's still pretty tentative and they definitely need more work before I think I am done, though often as not putting my finger on exactly what requires a of time and then coming back to them. Still a good enough start I believe. 

Also, though I didn't make the Caliente sisters off their genetics, I did put together their parents in case I felt like I needed to (both kind of cobbled together from some sims I wasn't currently using). By the Sims 2 narrative, which I mostly based these on, they are supposed to be dead it seems, but in my version of the family I guess they might be alive, or not, I'll cross that bridge when I get there

  

 

@WickedLoveXxx Well, the best advice I can give you is to find reference pictures to create your sims off. Either just look around and see if you can stumble across someone whose face you think might be interesting to base a sim off or be more deliberate and think of how you want your sims to look and then go looking. For the best results you want both a shot from the front, preferably with a somewhat neutral expression as well as a side shot (this really helps to get the nose and chin right).

 

When you start off making your sim, begin by selecting the presets (face structure, nose, eyes, mouth, etc.) which best approximate your reference picture before you do any sculpting. Then all you really need is a bit of patience, and don't worry about not making a sim that looks very much like your reference picture in the end, often the most interesting and unique results come from failed attempts at making a sim version of someone (and the most interesting of those often comes from a sim based on numerous different "failed attempts" at different faces). 

Oh! Didn't realize you were talking about generating sims using genetics. I find this to be quite a useful tool at times because it helps you retain a resemblance for sims who are supposed to be related, I pretty much never use the generated results "raw" though, I always edit them a bit here and there for a while until I've got something that I like. But I try to keep, or at least not alter too much, the generated features as much as I am able to, in order to retain that family resemblance.

Tony and Aminah

 

A new sim in this one actually. Tony Azim is an old sim of mine who I made some time back when I wanted to have more sims in my world, over time he's kind of ended up in the role of being Jason's friend, which I've often set up ahead of time in the games I've played, also used to have him occupy the spare room in Jason's house from the first page of this thread. His sister Aminah is a recent sim I made using genetics off Tony and the result was one I was very happy with, especially once I got her skin details and hair chosen. Tony is a tech student (same as Jason) and Aminah is a makeup artist.

Anyway, I don't have anything immediately ready to upload at the moment and not sure about the amount of free time I have over the coming week to put together more (and the way I structure my downloads they take a little while to put together, but I wouldn't have it different, because I feel it's better to do it "right" than just slap it together). 

 

So in that case, I figured I'd ask to see if anyone has any thoughts on what I should focus on adding to this when I get the time to get back to updating it again like last week (when I got quite alot done to be honest). I'll continue wokring towards the goal of getting a save/custom world setup ready here for those who want that, but honestly that just means adding enough sims and lots and working out sort of a picture of their relationships to each other and such. 

 

So I'm thinking to ask if people liked the way I did it last week with some individual sims, some households and a couple of associated lots or if they want me to focus a bit more on one or another of those going forwards? Also how about male sims? Like many others who upload sims here I have more female than male sims, though in the last year I've tried to remedy that a bit by making more male sims (I uploaded a random assortment of male sims from my game about 6 months back) in general and building more households around my sims (which also works to even out the gender balance some usually). 

 

Also how about old versus new sims? One long-term goal of this file is to update all my uploaded households and get everything under one roof, this means going through all my old downloads and getting up updated versions of most of the sims (though some I'm no longer using and therefore I'll likely leave the old version up for those) I've uploaded. However I've also kept on making new sims. Does anyone have a preference for one or the other of those options of focusing more on addign updated versions of old sims or getting new ones added to this file first? I've got a bit of a backlog of new sims, not all of which are completely done. Here's a couple below in the spoiler (some of which are more finished than others, but all of which I'm more or less happy with on a basic level).

For the old sims that have not yet been updated just check my older content, though I'll mention that as regards households I've gotten households for a couple of them now, such as Mikaela from this pack and Maryam from this one. So that's something to consdier as well. 

Sorry for the word dump, but just figured I'd throw this out here to see if anyone has an opinion, because if you have one I'd very much like to have it so I can consider it  (also because I won't be able to update this one again for at least a week I believe, though we'll see how it turns out)

 

EDIT: Forgot to add a question about townie makeovers, though honestly those probably go under "new sims" and whether or not you'd like me to focus on households and such over individual sims. I think typically when I do get to do more townie makeovers is when I have one or more sims I can use to replace some central members of the household to build it around, like with the Goth family which started with a sim I decided could be a replacement for an older Cassandra Goth.

That's a big part of why I'm a fan of your work; you have a work ethic and it shows.  I don't always play the Sims in a serious way, but my mod selection/edits at least prevent random horrible outfits. (At least in terms of CC)  If I do 'allow for random' on a particular mod, I make sure all of the rest of the selections are set up properly for the game to make good choices.  I'm not at all suggesting you do these edits but rather, I get the sense that you think about CC in a similar way.  In the past, (Sims3) I had way too many mods.  I'm doing things different in the Sims4, so I have much fewer, but quality mods which leaves room for mods like yours which exposes my game to the "creme of the crop" for cc selection.  Sabrina Kane, btw, was exceptional.  I could tell her favorite color and that she has excellent taste. Lets just say I notice and appreciate the skill and effort that goes into your archives and they are a pleasure to open.

 

2. I think you should do what you've been doing.  Focus on what you please, when you please.  Don't burn out, you are a rare artist. If you are inspired to do something and you share it, we will most likely love it.

 

3. I don't speak for everyone of course, but I would definitely be interested in everything you listed, individuals, lots, make overs, save game, all good!  Your ratio of male to female is fine. 1) I've actually kind of forgotten to do batch fixes over the last year almost to disallow CC for random, I used to do it, but I guess I kind of just started forgetting. I could definitely try to do it for any future uploads and also go back and fix it for the already uploaded sims as well. Wouldn't be too much work after I've done it the first time. 

 

3) I do have a definite preference for sims with a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, Latin and oftentimes a mixed race look to them I think. This comes in part from my own personal preferences in general and partly from a long-time observing that, in my opinion, there aren't really a whole lot of sims like that around, in the gallery or elsewhere, who aren't really just the "standard white people" (to the extent that most sims even actually look like white people that is) but with differently colored eyes, hair and skin (goes for alot of other ethicities really). 

 

That said I do have sims outside of that mold as well, some blondes and a couple of redheads (yeah, not many redheads looking at it, guess I'm one of those apparently rare people who aren't really hugely into that in general?though like anyone I'll make an exception when it suits me ), and they'll definitely be added to this file at some point. Some are sims I've uploaded in the past and therefore they probably need a bit of updating to fit into this (I also need to think about their personality and stuff a bit and have a look at skills, traits and occupation, like I've done with the sims I've uploaded here, really helps flesh them out I find), others are sims that haven't really made it outside of my tray for whatever reason (typically me not being sure that I'm done making them).

It worked for me when I posted and after reloading the page. It's not working now. Strange. It was a screenshot of Katherine from youtube play through of House Party, which looked like your model base for Casey.

 

Url embed didn't work, Insert Other Media option didn't work. I tried the other attach/choose files option and it looks like it worked this time.

That is indeed the case. I made a number of sims about a year ago based on characters from that game, they've kind of taken on a life of their own since them as I've changed then up along my own lines, but the resemblance should still more or less be there.
